  • and Michael, please...for the love of all that is Holy. make a Battlecruiser (bigger than Battleship...) because a battlecruiser of sheer size would definitely keep my Napoleon Complex quiet for a long time


    I may also have that complex... but there is a limitation.


    Before Disco had something barely similar:
    Both battlestation and battlecruiser ideas (with full set of details like movement limitations, cameras, command/control room, loadouts, etc) have been denied by OP, for too much work or seeing some problem at it I haven't (as I though at/checked FL Engine compatibility), not sure. First was the battlestation one, and much later(not long ago), the battlecruiser one.
    I won't build/help bulding something that won't be used in this mod (which is the only one I help), because it would be the second time I do this.

    - Earning money by killing tough npcs , the tougher the bigger money
    - Tracking the location of the cargo(from where it comes to where it leads)
    - Placing tracking devices on ships
    - Online Server/Clan System Rules Manual
    - Online Clans Stats Manual (What's the full name of the clan , the system , alliances etc.)
    - Command that puts someone in a prison around Sirius for a matter of time (the bigger the penalty , the bigger time) and locks him/her to switch to another character
    - Flying objects with the directions (like those on the streets , city to city etc.) ( I don't think that it's actually for the hook , but still...)

    My point is quite relevant. You give, you get. And I do play almost daily, so I can comment as I see fit, if people aren't participating.


    I appreciate what Huor is trying to do, but we have enough tools we don't use already. Then for him to try new things, that take time to work and perfect, people can't wait and will start complaining that it takes too long.

    I love this idea! If it has some boundaries like a fine/tax cap per levels, and the two hour rule, this would be a great tool to have, and it keeps people from breaking the law/rules.

    Perfect! Achievement type things like on the website! Getting a # of kills, fines, taxes, and victories in events, would be awesome, not trying to push you, just thinking out loud :P

    Can you emphasizes? If you mean a list of possible trade routes? If so it should be limited to containers because like shockwave said, half of the work is to find the routes yourself. If it is an in-game calculator to calculate profits... then yup ^^

    Also if I may ask, is it possible to do the tax/fine thing for mercs? Like let them have a place where they can put a contracts, that the/a merc gets paid per kill? Just asking :), but a great, awesome, amazing job nonetheless!! Thanks Huor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the tax/fine command was proposed to me and in the way it was explained it sounded reasonable, therefore i forwarded it to huor
    you may consider it not necessary but i see it a good addition to the two RP factions which are not supported by the hook yet


    furthermore i see it a good way to get RP done by preventing that people escape RP this way
    these commands are only active in range of a player and that player has 3 options... pay... run... or fight
    how you "convince" your opponent is your own choice


    about the other features i cant say much
    however i share gunnys opinion that we meanwhile have more than enough and that there are more important issues to deal with

    I think the fine/tax would be a good idea, but only if it was done right. I would do it like they can set the player and amount, and it is either accepted or denied by the target player, and the amount is automatically deducted if accepted.


    I like the awards system system, because it would be a good way for people to show off their accomplishments(and maybe get awards/items for certain awards/multiples of awards?)


    Please explain what you mean by trade calculator, I am not exactly sure what you mean.


    The ASF/CSF would be a good thing, mainly for bragging rights in my opinion :p

  • Trade calculator is a tool that ... calculates the trade routes and simply gives you a list of the most profitable routes with all the details on profit, where to buy/sell, etc, making all the "thinking" job in your place.

    So, I don't see any benefit in a cop/pirate fine/tax thing (I have no idea how it could be presented in a reasonable manor that would help RP)


    Awards system....hmm, maybe it could be something that does tie in with many of the things you guys have been implementing/trying


    Trade calculator ...Isn't it the responsability of the trading clans to know the profitable routes? ....and by extension, the pirates to know where to go taxing and the cops to look for such actions as smuggling and piracy?


    Before there was online update of the asf/csf battle progress.....or do you mean the ability to check while ingame?

  • when im reading the suggestions about the new rp-thing, i think of something like, for example, the Junkers do if they want cargo/loot:
    they open a chat, saying that they want something and immediately a window pops up with info about the pilot and what he wants *Commodity X (Amount Y)* with the options whether to give him the cargo or to fight...
    maybe now if this would be possible it can be arranged for the specific rp-type as well. it creates a new type of rp-situation, though if someone tries to flee, then open fire - clearly ^^
    i hope you guys understand what i mean cause my english is terrible now :D im so tired lol

  • Automatic tax/fine where it deducts from my ship/bank credits? Um.....no.
    Reward system? Um.....maybe. Seeing "Rex Nebular won the Great Race today" as one of the server spam messages [until the next server reset] would be cool.
    Trade route calculator? Let's see...we have uber laser weapons, jumpgate technology, instant communication from one side of the galaxy to the other. But my ship is not equipped with an on-board computer that has a searchable database of goods and services on the stations that I've been to? It should. Not saying that just because I'm a smuggler [BMG's are currently static]...it would help newbs out a lot getting started, too.


    Number One question I hear from newbs: "Where's a good trade route to start out with?"

  • I do see Rex's point especially as far as new players go (and, wow really, wouldn't people be able to make choices where to sell stuff with updated info?). And having static trade routes for so long seems odd since I have seen other times when this wasn't the case. TBH I have no idea why dynamic economy hasn't been around so long but it must cause issues that people got tired of? Currently I can look in cargo hold and figure where is best place to take my cargo (rarely happens that I have cargo)....it's called...searched and have mapped^^


    IMO please stop trying to make everything for people that just want an easy trip.......that's not why I ever started playing the CF mod in the first place.

    but i see a good use for the tax and fine commands in an environment where we have more than enough people which simply evade by getting killed

  • @OP&Huor: Basically I am against the trade calculator (if I take its meaning correctly from the above posts), but considering that anyway some people know the routes and the others don't, that calculator could change it for the better, placing everyone in equal conditions.
    Still, would BMG calculations be accessible for all players, or only for smugglers, or not accessible at all? Newbies in NY would be quite frustrated seeing a 41 mil Blueprints route but having no money even to buy a smuggler's license... So maybe it's better to limit BMGs to smugglers. The latter though will be in seventh heaven if they have a BMG calculator which cops and pirates do not have... Which brings us back to unfair advantages. :(


    Bond: to attract tons of people, CF should have some unique features which other mods (or games) can not offer... Or have all those of other servers at once. :verrueckt:
    For me the reasons for CF were graphics, widescreen, mod's size (!), later the vast atmoshperic universe and of course Inner Core sector! I have no idea why people need something else...


    P.S. The other three features are ok for me, if my opinion has any significance.

    It was proposed not represented (not the same thing), and of course, if you want to change something you go to the leaders, not to the members. As if asking the kids in a school class so that their teacher puts them better marks, instead of asking the teacher himself.

    That would be an good idea indeed! But think its not that easy to make.
