Patching every time

    I'm not sure if there has already been a post on this. I have looked, but couldn't find one. But why does it have to patch the files every time I boot up Crossfire? It's rather annoying and time consuming. Isn't there a way to just download the files and keep them? And if not, can we fix it for 1.9??

    You must use launcher to enter game. If you enter game without patching up first, you will be kicked, and whole server can crash.
    So, be patient for 20-30sec.

    Those files need to be updated each time logging on and there is no way to avoid it (in MP anyway), as dynamic economy
    always change.
    (... it does not take that long to update anyway, eh?)


    Not doing so may lead to server crashes or eventually corrupt your account.


    I am thinking updates may be much "heavier" in the future with upcoming CF1.9, as (I believe) dynamic universe may be actived, which
    should contain much more data.


    I am afraid you'll have to do with it if wanting to play online (is this that terrible?)
    Note: I have played online games that are much much worse to update....

    Hmm... If the game needs to be patched before every starting... how it is patching during a long online game? ?(
    I have asked this becouse I may play the game some tines much longer than 3-4 hours... And I don't want to have any technical problems what this may be caused of.

    if you play longer than 24 hours ... then you might run into troubles
    but actually you get disconnected after that time anyways

    unlikely. I have searched this avatar more than a half-year. Only some photoshop works of my friend and few screenshots could help me to make this :(

    I'm not complaining... (Much)
    I was just wondering because me and my friend have our internet disconnected sometimes, kind of annoying, and if it happens during patching, it has to reinstall sometimes.. Plus, we live in Australia, and patching takes a minute to a minute and a half.. Not long, and I love the game and the patching isn't a problem or anything, I was just wondering if there was a way to stop it.

    Perhaps OP can have the launcher check to see if the dynamic files have already been downloaded for the day and not do it over and over again during the 24 hours between server restarts. In most cases, you are downloading the same files everytime you start the launcher during a 24 hour period. Just have it check the date/time stamp on the files and if they match the current files, no download required. If they are old files, then download them.
