the launch music fits perfect (thats why it was choosen)
and there will be no option to remove itthe other music is not your business
-
Oh yea speaking of music, to pimp out some of one of my fellow clanmate's awesome mixes...
Check out some of Ensign Petite Mokoto's, (callsign FRAISE) work.

Right, not my business. No actually it is my business. I have full rights to know what exactly is on my pc when using "YOUR" mod. Regardless if you paid for any of the music or not, i'm pretty sure you don't have a license to redistribute audio tracks. Regardless of what ever copy right you may have, that's an obligation -YOU- as a mod author are required to follow.
I think you already understand the legal ramifications of that if you don't provide that information when requested.
-
Ohhhh brother...
-
LOL, so i am sure you also have to right to know whats inside cola that you drink - because you actually have the full right to know what you eat or drink
M8 there are several levels of copyright. OP has always ensured he has the right to use the stuff he has add to the mod. Thus it must not mean everyone has the right to know whats inside. Even not if the one of clauses of the copyright might be not to share its source. If you have problems - then ask Microsoft if they tell you whats on your PC - because on one side you use their OS and on the other side Freelancer is also from them :=)

Yes i'm sure everyone has taken the proper precautions to cover their asses. This is just a simple request and I do have a right to know what music is included in this mod. I don't care where it came from or how he got it. There are other people however who might be interested on how -I- got it. So that information is rather important. So if you don't mind. Send it to me in a pM or something. Artist and song title. That's all. The fact you're all so up tight about it wreaks of being guilty about something. Whether you are or not isn't my concern.

My good man, coming to a forum of which basically is the Crossfire mod author's online "home" and demanding to know the names of the music titles in the mod is about tantamount to like coming to my house and demanding to know exactly what is in my closet. Plain and simple, it's none of your frakkin' business! Considering the fact Microsoft has some of the highest paid lawyers on the face of the planet, I'm sure OP has taken every precaution to have everything legal and OK'ed on this mod before it's ever loaded up on a server, PERIOD.
OP-R8R or anyone else here at SWAT for that matter don't have to do a damn thing for you with the condescending attitude you've shown here. Uptight you say? Hahaha... The only person who seems like they got a piece of coal lumped up their rear orifice here is YOU, Mr. NeXus. Good day to you sir and don't let the door bite you in the ass on the way out.

Man - Nexus - you are so damn wrong. You dont have a single right to know whats inside this mod. Just saying this you would - means you could also have a right to ask whats inside cola - sure you have the right to ask - but you dont have a right to know it. And why should others want to know where you got something from - its neither one of theirs businesses where you got your stuff from, isnt it. I mean - have you asked Microsoft yet where they got their music from that they have put in this game?
The launch to space music is not always the same, its changing as far as i know.If you want to know whats inside this mod why you simply dont open your installation and look for what you are looking for? I mean everything is there infront of you.

Why is the names of some songs such a big deal? Look at your posts. I have a right to know whats being put on my computer, PERIOD. Just like you would have a right to know if a mechanic installed the wrong parts to your car. Or if someone had spyware on your cell phone. My computer is my property, so you can't tell me "no, its not my business" because it is my business. Or do you not get that? I'm not here to start a flame war. So why don't you kids grow up for two seconds?
I have looked but that isn't a full list of everything used. Some of the audio in this mod is in a different format. I can't check everything. Artist or even a real name for a song. That simple.. thats all I am asking. If that is really such a big deal then why not just say so in the first place? Just some freaking music.
So sorry I bothered to ask.

You don't have to download the mod PERIOD
-
Just going to request a moderator close the thread. No point in this continuing. I could argue with every person who posts into this subject. Pointless. Despite non of this being helpful at all thank you all for your wonderful feedback.
Enjoy your evenings/morning.

Guy you don't understand and its not about flaming or anything. You indeed have a right to know whats stored on your PC. You have any right to look at the files that are delivered -you can also ask about it. But you don't have a right to know more as over that is obvious. Because you have no right to change or touch anything that is put in this mod - thats the license agreement that comes with this mod. As some of the music is stored in some files that cannot be used easily does not change anything on this fact. That would namely also mean you have a right to know how this software is written. Mostly that is considered reengineering and with that mostly a break of copyright. What Op has put in the files he created on his own is copyrighted by him. And finally this mod is his property - he has to ensure he has permission to use it, thats his business. But he don't have to tell you what and from whom stuff is put in this mod because it not a free software (e. g. GPL licensed).
In first place its your attitude to demand stuff and to state to have a right to know whats inside the files - you don't, sorry that's a fact. And if the author denies any info on that should be respected - not more not less.
-
No I understand perfectly well thank you. I'm dropping the issue, forget i asked. You can close the thread.
-
Well sorry if you are dissappointed. The thread must be closed by OP - its only him who has this right
Unless someone knows the sounds by heart - its also only OP who knows what has been put inside. As he said he wont say who and what - we cannot help you any further.Sorry again. Normally we tend to help if we can help. Guess the thread developed into something different than you initially wanted. I leave it to OP to shed some light on this and have a final statement about copyright and such things. I am not a lawyer
-
damn
I missed this discussion... its too late... actually not1. if i recall right you have created your tiny ship (where you requested info on another thread) in order to use it with other mods including... speaking about copyrights and proper use of software from your side is ridiculous (in case of Crossfire you have clearly broken the CF licence agreement)
2. which agreements, licences or rights I have regarding any material being used in my mod is for sure not your business; the only important thing is that it is allowed to be used in combination with the Crossfire mod.
3. when you talk about "rights" you probably mean "permission" because "rights" is something you dont have regarding my work; You have the permission to play the mod AS PROVIDED.
Rights have to be earned and i cant remember that you did something to earn a right4. that i have to credit everyone and everything is not true;
e.g.
- if it is not wanted or needed by agreement or licence
- if it falls under a special licence type
- or if there is a special copyright free agreement between me and the original author5. if you are worried about the software on your HDD then delete it or even better dont download something
6. in the entire Freelancer community you not find another person which has taken care more about copyright issues as i did; afterall i am preaching the correct use of it for almost a decade
-
Never touched crossfire with modding. My ship went into a vanilla install of freelancer, so I haven't broken the license agreement in anyway. Just the same client side downloads a patch every time its run so modifying Crossfire is redundant.
And I do have a right to freedom of speech. Which gives me the right to request any information I want. Doesn't mean I always get it. That is a right everyone has, and its not something I take lightly. Doesn't make me entitled or even right about everything.
You can keep "your" bits of code and pixels.
-
You have the right until you don't hurt other people. And by threatening others with prosecution and therefor blackmailing them is not the way to go... +OP already told you that it was none of your business... You are a bit overdosed with this "freedom of speech" and liberalist things, sure you can ask for OP to show his ass, even you can demand it but don't be suprised when other people won't be kind with you...
