Hey, Shroud is very fast
And in the speed ships, there are also Cyclone, somebody said about Shooting Star, well, theese and 12 ships more OP said they have exactly the same fast agility I trust more OP's word hehe
Now, a hint: Persephone is Fat, it's larger from front to behind and so easy ship to hit... Lagg is smaller and speedy, and Saracen is fast but better armoured too
There are more ships out there which was never tried by somebody :< to see they are also of the fastest.

if you are looking for style, agility and super fire power -> pink eagle
however, suggested only for pro pilots that have an above average hand eye coordination
-
I've tried many ships but I really like the Coalition Saber, the Shroud, and the Bullpup 3.
But what I really want for Christmas is one of those remote-controlled Ancient Drones.
-
of course... every kids favorite toy -> RC Drones

I've only been playing this mod version since Sunday, but everyone who has played 1.7 will tell you that, if you think about it, there really shouldn't be a "best" ship. For those of you who weren't here during 1.7, most people flew the Lagg because of it's crazy fast turn rate. If you were flying a Lagg and you got into a fight, you were guaranteed to win unless you were a bad pilot or the other pilot simply outclassed you. I don't know if this is still the case (I haven't heard otherwise, but I'm sure that it isn't) but that's a good example of one ship being "Best" for everything, even NPC hunting. That thing could dodge and weave like a hornet, and you could escape most NPC encounters that you couldn't win; so the low hull rating didn't matter.
But I digress. The ships in any mod should be equally capable of taking each other out by equally skilled pilots. PvP is more important than NPC hunting in most mods (including this one in most scenarios) because the fighters available can wipe out almost any NPC opposition that they come across. So in conclusion, there really shouldn't be a "best" ship for anything, because that means that everyone will be flying the same ship(s). And if everyone is flying the same ship(s), what is the point of having all of the other ships available to the players if they are not going to use them?

Having those drones escort and help you is possible
Saw a video on youtube in Freelancer, an item which makes the NPCs arround come with you like a squad
Also, about the NPCs, in CF 1.81 there are new NPCs not so easy to kill
-
I see what you're saying Bugma...
Maybe if players were more encouraged to try different ships we wouldn't be so fixated on getting the BEST ship.
One way to do this might be to have ship prices increase more gradually, until you reach the higher priced ships, which would then be considered the BEST.
Most VHF ships are closely priced at the moment, so there is no need to try one over the other. By having ship prices more evenly distributed, some players may try
ships that are medium priced and work their way up to the more expensive ones...Just a thought...
-
Just don't worry about the 'best' ship, there are 17 best ships with the same agility, and a different cooler model for each eye
-
But only one ship comes with the BEST personality...
the dreaded Pink Eagle...with it's bubble gum paint job
...now if we could only find some lavender colored cannons to go with it...

Finally people start seeing that the 'best' stuff is the one you have next by you
People go to far far away systems to find the 'best' ship, and after a laarge trip they find out the coolest ship is next by X Owned by CFPD There's no fast ship with more than 10.000 hull (OP's plan to make them equilibrated) so, who cares for 600 + or - hull, while the speed is cool and the ship is small and hard to hit Perse is also fast, but too fat... still I like it looks like a house lol -
Now if I could only find a way to fly the RAGARNOK...hmmm
-
Bah...the Shroud is simply the most popular ship on the server because it has decent stats and it's close to home. I've spent the past several hours flying ships in the Altair sector, and there are several designs in that area that can match the Shroud in agility, armor, and weaponry. Styling, however, is another issue altogether. And as for it's hitbox (size) I usually don't have any issues hitting the Shroud with my guns. My personal favorite ship? Well, you'll just have to wait and see. No, it's not the Terror. I'm swapping that out for something else later on this evening.
-
Well, then try hit Lagg, or Cyclone(which are small), Thanatos would be a little fat too, Persephone is FAT on lateral(as it's long), like, twice the Lagg, Raptor is pretty small, Saracen is small/normal and heavy armored but a Bit less agile(as I think), and so etc about 20 ships with similar stats
BTW, how you can say you got a personal favorite ship without flying it yet... hmm, suspect let's see what you choose so we/I see what way you used to choose it
-
I have been trying out the Raptor recently, and I find it has good agility, it is a very tiny (small target + more concentrated fire)... armor is a beat weak, but it is good to train evasive manouvers
Also, it is less common than the shroud! (although shroud really looks great I admit)But so many ships to choose from! Still have to make up my mind for my main character....
Probably easier to try out ships in Open SP though... where you can save before purshasing hihihi-Faaby-

Yep SP makes it all easyer hehe
it's where I explored everything.... everywhere befor ethe server was working -
