  • Inside Crossfire returns this month to tell you more about the most famous community members of SWAT and Crossfire. Let's bring you once more behind the scenes, to show you hidden aspects about the game, the clans and the people. This month I interviewed a guy that made everyone shake in their space suits when they saw him on the radar, the terrible pirate Huor :

Interviewer : Vice-Admiral Sam Thomas (SA_ARROW) of the Silver Arrows.
    Guest : Huor

Thanks for accepting my invitation to answer these questions Huor, let's begin.

Q: Who is the man behind Huor ? What's he like in real life ?
A: The man behind Huor is what most would consider a normal human being. I passed nearly all steps of the youth and teens (elementary school, secondary school, technical high school (main subject - economy) - went nearly a year to the German Army and finally visited a University of Cooperative Education).

I am mostly good humoured, try to see and think positive and forget about the negatives :) Mainly because the negative stuff will make you sick soon. Thats not what i am experienced in my young age of 28 - but i assume thinking positive will make everything a tiny bit easier.
I very often think the other way round - ahm hard to describe - but its if most see a thing common - i am asking and request myself why it must be common, is there any reason... Dunno why i have this bad habit - but its there (e. g. I don't feel very annoyed to loose in fights - thats something that belongs to gaming - but i know that many players will always win and feel annoyed if they don't). And sometimes i am satisfied if i can help others and in the same moment I don't like to get support from others << also bad habbit. I am in no way religious but dont have anything against all that are :)

Q: What jobs did you had in your life ?
A: Related to my relative young age of 28 - i dont had very much jobs meanwhile. And i think thats good ;)
I had some industrial trainings once during my technical highschool phases - nothing realy important, worked also for an advertiser as well. I even managed to collect garbage - not an easy job - but it was good paid :)
Currently i am developing software (as software engineer) for the firm i am working for and may enjoy to come all around the world to visit our customers.

In my spare time and based on my university time i am dealing very willingly with web based stuff - hence my "knowledge" about php, javascript, html and all this stuff. I am not an expert - but i think i dont have the worst knowledge about all this stuff ;)

Q: Does Huor have a dream to realize ?
A:No, I think not what i would understand as "dream". I would feel very comfortable if my family, my friends and me stays well and I can keep on working - just to keep my current level of living (although it may increase and should never decrease :)).

Q: What was your dream when you were a child ?
A: Uff - thats have been a bit ago. I really dont know but I assume i wanted to become a police men. And if that would not have been worked i thought its a good idea to become Superman *lol*

Q: How have you been introduced to Freelancer ?
A: Freelancer. I think it was in the mid of 2006. My brothers were playing the game mostly and loved it. At this time i was at high school and besides learning (what i only did before the exams) i had enough of spare time. So I have seen my brothers playing this game and they introduced me to it. First i didnt knew of any multiplayer possibility and neither about all the features this game had to offer - but that changed soon as i firstly finished the Single Player Campaign. As my brothers were a few steps further advanced into and about this game than me, they even discovered several mods that can be applied to the game and that extents the borders of vanilla freelancer. My first mod that i tried was TNG followed by VOID and then came CROSSFIRE - what has now kept me here since the end of 2006.

Q: When did you joined the SWAT community ?
A: Ahm - i guess it was december 2006. Not sure it could be also november :) In my early times at SWAT i just was a simple buccaneer who had to scrape the deck of someones ship :)
I mainly had to overtake the discussions about rules and such stuff as the founders and previous leaders as well as members did not fully understand the former ServerPolice as well as rules of CF. So i was there to help out to calm down both sides and to get the clan running as well as established. At this time yet not as leader.

Q: Have you played any roles as staff member for the Crossfire series ?
A: Yes. Mainly in this order:
As the founders of TRF (my brothers) had some RL problems that prevented them from playing this game as well as dealing about the clan leading functions i have decided to take over that job. No mainly i have gotten this job from DeathRain. Well i didnt denied and so one thing followed the other. The next step was that WarCmdr - the TRFs former ServerPolice couldnt play any longer also due to RL issues. So i also have taken this job. Mainly because of the less speech barrier that i had - in opposite to the remaining clan members at this time.
It didnt lasted very long as Doppleganger resigned as CSF Leader - and in an ingame meeting I was proposed as CSF leader. I also didnt denied as i wanted to keep the game and this event alive - and i considered this as an job for a ServerPolice member. I didnt had much experience as leader of a whole faction. But i have gotten support from all members - even the ASF ones.
So I had mainly all upper ranks in my responsibility, Clan Leader, CSF Faction Leader, ServerPolice. --> is there any more left that could have been taken (except the ASF leader :))?

I also was a SiteModerator for the SWAT forum once, have tried to help OP in the site building (web based stuff), have created a 2nd Community Bar as well as build the basic layout of the Crossfire Homepage.
As far as i know OP considered to apply me also as Admin - but that never were any topic since the latest quarrels about me, my clan TRF in december last year.

I really have spent much time in game and on the server as well as forum at this time. I was happy to serve the community and mainly loved to do this job.
Mainly because there were also times where i found it stressful - mostly as players have turned their behaviour and insulted each other. Well you don't have much power to control this - only to appeal on the common sense. Thats what is also valid nowadays and will remain valid anytime in every game.

Q: What is your best moment in Crossfire ?
A: Thats hard to point out. There were numerous. I loved to follow my pirate role and do pirating all around. I didn't had many moments as i had all leading positions on the server - but those were the most funny and enjoyable moments. And also very important if others have also played there role. Not only by shooting each other - but also by writing in role play manner with each other. Thats something that would elicit a laugh nowadays too.

Q: TRF was not supposed to be pirates initially, right ? What made you decide to become pirates ?
A: Yes TRF was supposed to follow the police role play. That was the initial idea of the founders (WarCmdr and DeathRain). I was not very involved at this time but as far as i remember Crossfire had enough police or law enforcing clans at this time. So that TRF would also do policing was not very welcome. And we also wanted to become ASF at this time. What was initially denied. Both facts has lead us to change our role play and now do pirating. Considering the nature of the TRF members at this time - it wasn't the worst idea ;)
The Fallen-Clan had supported us very much at this time - so we developed some real life friendships between some (MiniMouse and her friend - damn i cant remember his name - ahm Catdog maybe?).

Q: Is the TRF ban a sensitive subject ? Can you tell us why they disappeared ?
A: Oh its at least not a nonsensitive topic ;) The TRF ban was based on mistrust of many of my members towards the server and SWAT_OP-R8R, insults directed towards him, and the overall situation in December last year. I have justified that OP has banned those who insulted him and damaged the community (from his point of view). That was and is alone his decision. He is the admin and his decisions are final. First as I was banned nearly all of my members were banned as well (could be also the other way round) - except a few.
Well my ban was based on mistrust and lies (from OPs point of view). And the situation got worst with every day in December. The initial reason for all this were the quarrels about the ServerPolice team. I tried to defend all members and argued and argued. A few tried to calm me down - and shortly had success. But i have seen the situation getting worst (due to some final statements from OP, his recent announcement of his resignation, the shutdown of the server and and and - i couldn't stay quite and calmed and with that the situation played up to a point of no return :))

So one thing followed the other and so TRF was banned.

Q: Is TRF still lurking in the shadows, waiting for their ban to be lift up ?
A: TRF is still existent - with less players than before. We had a short revive this year as 5 members returned form a long term absence. Now they don't play regular anyway. I can understand that and with that I respect their decision in all ways. Due to this i am no friend of reminding them to play a game that they do not really like anymore.

I don't think that TRF will be returning to Crossfire - mainly due to the fact that OP was/is very annoyed about a few of my members, their insults and their problems they have caused for SWAT. They are not interested to play on Crossfire any longer - at least most of them.

I would gladly close this topic and leave this part of myself, SWAT and Crossfire behind and remain it as history. It wont help to reveal everything that happened - and mostly it would be too complex for all players who weren't involved into everything like i was. Period now.

Q: Any advice you'd give to beginner clan leaders that hope to take their own place amongst the top clans ?
A: I am not sure if you should follow my advices. I am not the best leader anyway. TRF never had the strength like CFPD, LP and PX for example. I consider Daywalker and Gunny one of the most experienced leaders in relation to leading a clan. At least from my experience. I assume OP is doing this good too - but i never have seen him leading BG in public - but i guess he has attached the strings behind the scene ;)

Nowadays i consider it important for a clan leader to have good relations to all other leaders. Be an idol for the players - not only those of your own clan. Take care about your clan members and show presence as well as that you take care of problems. And make decision and weight all odds and advantages. Stay calmed and don't be shy to ask about anything where you feel stuck. Because that wont help neither your nor your clan and also not the server. Thats all not easy and will consume many time - but as soon you feel more and more experienced those jobs will get easier and you will love to do it.

That was much interesting Huor, thank you.

    Thanks Arrow.

  • 2 minor comments:

    1. Ive lead BG long time ago and handed over the leadership to Arv (actually to wavey but he had to leave) -> he is leading the clan (i am way too busy leading this portal which by my subjective feeling is the harder job as ive lead several pretty good clans before)
if i would return to active duty in BG i would follow his orders

    2. the TRF members which requested to return were accepted back (without being punished or something like that)

just a few comments ... not more... not less

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • I liked the sincerity he gave and the interview itself ^^

Gratz to both guest and interviewer :D
