    I ban Ajay, because you live close to aircraft plant. In my town has only one closed plant for tanks, actually only for dome of the tank (other parts of the tank is in the neighboring town) don't know who model is (probably T-72 or T-80). The plant is closed from dissolution of USSR.

    I ban Ice-Warrior because top part of the tank you call "dome" (the one with gun) is called "turret".
    Either way, T-72 and T-80 are similar machines on the outside. Don't exactly know how they differ, I just know that T-80 uses gas turbine engine (like M1 Abrams) and T-72 - diesel. The "newest russian tank in production", T-90 is actually glorified and upgraded T-72. But anyway, from the outside look all russian MBTs (main battle tanks) are similar.
    Yeah, lots of military plants are getting closed after USSR collapse. Bad part is that sometimes even civilian plants and military plants that can be converted into civilian use are getting closed too.
