I tried the eye-candy update when it was released and it really was blurry and did hurt my eyes.
You can disable it... but... well...Official release of the game is end of January so I will wait to start a new game.

Just a small update.
Subnautica is going to be released next week (January 23rd).
So its pretty much the last chance to get the early access version now (which I expect to be cheaper than the final product). -

ive just installed it again.

Likewise, finally a survival game with an actual goal and ending. Dont know what they will do in the future about it, but, either way this game is a gem.
-
Are there actually more than 1 ending ?
-
i think there is just one
but i can tell for sure when I get close to it.So far ive only spent a few hours in survival mode trying to build a halfway working base.
Ive played the game multiple times before in early access (as far this was possible) but now I had to realize that alot has changed.
Items are not where I would expect them to be and many resource nodes do no longer exist. I really have to search for everything again.
But at least I got myself out of the biggest troubles.
I have the rough layout for my base. I have plenty of storage (eventhough I could swear that lockers where smaller in early access. Back then I was able to place 4 of them on a wall of a multipurpose room... now its only 3. I have food growing in my base and providing enough water, I have a bit of energy (not really much but enough for what I consume). I have a battery charger so the energy problem for devices is also solved. And I meanwhile have a seamoth. I dont have a charger for energy cells yet but I simply recharge the seamoth via the moonpool.
So actually I have reached the point where the essential needs are covered.Everything else is just fine tuning and story progression.
Thats going to be the rough layout:
I need ALOT more glass to get the fine tuning done

And done. I have just finished the game and it was a very nice ride.
Here is a walk through my final main base (I have two other small bases in the caves of the unterwater river and the lava zone).
The vid also contains the missile launch sequence of my BFR (take that Elon Musk ;)).
The game is great and this certainly has not been my last playthrough.
It looks great, has an lovely soundtrack, very nice and interesting storyline, good gameplay and really motivates to keep playing and going deeper and deeper.
The only problem I currently see with this game is that even now after the 1.0 release there are many small bugs and a big performance problem.
I started the game with 170-200 FPS. Now I have less than 30FPS when I am close to my main base. There are microstutters and terrain pop-ins.
All that is not a hardware problem since the game does not even make use of that much hardware resources. My average CPU load is around 37%, my GPU load is at ~35%, max 40% of the video memory is used and only 2GB RAM usage. Its not possible to say that there is a hardware bottleneck somewhere. Somewhere in the game must be serious bug causing performance problems. I hope that future patches will fix that.
The game started with a 91% metacritic rating (the best game rating in 2018 so far) and currently is at 87%. For an early access game thats very good. For a game that isnt about pew pew pew its even better. I would blame the performance at the end of the game for the slight drop in the rating.
It is great to have interesting games that can be solved in non-violent ways and provide a storyline with emotional moments while at the same time also have a game environment that is beautiful but sometimes frightening.
The best thing about diving down 1.5km, surrounded by metal, rock, water and darkness is when you manage to reach the surface again.

it at least causes sleepless nights in the nearby crew quarters
