DC - I respect what u did last night in Dublin and Hyperion. You were on your own and you certainly got me thinking about what was going on - any my next actions.

As IOC, I dont think we could PVP against police - maybe we could hire mercs in secret to take you out?

At one point I considered offering you something to look the other way but thought otherwise as you could take offence.

Although this RP is difficult as you were on your own - I certainly thought you did a good job and would like to encourage you in this.

You got me thinking about RP and that was good.

By the way - the Junkers were also using that cargo command thing yesterday - are they pirates or police?

Well mate - maybe those Mollies and Corsairs (hiss boo) should spend the amount of time I have trading and killing to get the best equipment money can buy.

But they cant as the equipment is all over the place and are there any NPCs willing to go into Hiruga for the Champ Shield? NPCs will have to be able to be at least nuetral with other factions to get the latest equip and sometimes if your a Corsair, that will never happen.

Maybe some NPCs can be fitted with PPCs or something and they go by the name of Elite Guard Corsair or Ninja Dragon Bloodguard? Rogue Leader?

    Good idea Ghost.

I am getting my Drake tonight and will see how difficult the NPCs are. Hubris is right, once you get all the equipment the NPCs are like flies and you just ignore them.

we could do with more invasions by Dks into the core systems - I remem ber seeing them in X303 and Rheinland - we could increase the chances of them appearing.

No offence to 'OO' but let me share this. The guy kindly aged to help me with a transfer in Casius and whilst we were talking he got killed by NPCs and got transported all the way back to Dublin as he hadnot docked anywhere.

Obviously the NPCs are tougher in Casius.

    FAO The Crow

There are many many trading routes out there, a lot dont even involve the new systems.

There are also other ways to make money. One of my characters has 79 hours on this server and the only new systems I have had a good look at is Casius (Clan System) and Neophobos (Free system at the moment.)

Try taking prisoners to Stuttgart or something - that is well known trade route.

Those pirates were loitering in Manchester again accosting anyone in their path.

One poor sole was flying a Humpback or something - urgently flying through space ASAP - his level was 40+ though, but not fast enough for the pirate who promptly asked for tax.

What I found out is that even pirates have a heart and a code of honour as after hearing this guy's sad story, the pirate offered to lend him some cash!!!

It seems that this guy is 6 Trillion dollars in debt to two different clans and rather than disappearing and starting again (as I would) he does the honourable thing and tries to pay his dues.

I meet the poor trader in Sol later that day and he asks me for a loan. I dont have enough myself to buy either a train etc but I offer him some advice. He should not take another loan to pay of his other two - that would be a disaster. Maybe he should talk to the clans he owes money to and they may let him trade in their systems - which could be quicker.

He agrees to give them a call and continues his dangerous, long distance trade routes, to earn enough to pay his debts.

A few days later I meet him again and this time he is more confident and has loads of money. He has paid of at least one of the debts and is working through the other.

All I can say is respect - Amigo, well done mate. Shame on those lone sharks though for hassling him during those troubling days,

Shouldn't someone write a piece on the dangers of loans for new players?

Well, I spotted the UACheat? thing ages ago and mentioned it at the time to the chap in question and another UAC.

This is a bit of roleplaying right?

Sorry guys - you misunderstood what I was saying.

I know that LPs help newer players as it was you, Tanatos, that gave me advice on PVP when I first started here which I appreciated.

What I was trying to say is that it is better when the name of a clan reflects what it does or what it is, or has a nuetral tag.

As I said, the other KRT I have met have been very nice and very helpful. It is a shame this guy has tarnished there reputation.

I will shut up now and sit down at the back of the class.

I was in Sol when this Knight went off.

I took a screen shot but wont post it as that would be totally offensive and obscene.

My opinion, and it is only that, I am a newish player, is that if someone can say such things, again and again, he should be banned.

I have met other KRTs in space and they have been very friendly and civil as their introductional piece in the forum makes them out to be.

KRT is a distinguished clan name and it would be wrong for its members to act the total opposite to their charter.

Server Police - pirating and killing.
    Pirates helping people around.

    Chaos

The XF files are supposed to be protected and FLstat should not work with them - may be you are looking at an older version and the stats for new and old ships have been updated.

Although I have been told that the Shroud, and others are VHF, the databse itself refers to it as light fighter mounnted with VHF equip.

    Shroud
    Class: Fighter
    Sub-Class: Light Fighter
    Guns: 6/0
    Armor: 9700
    Cargo Holds: 130
    Max Batteries/NanoBots: 65/65
    Optimal Weapon Class: 8
    Max. Weapon Class: 10
    Additional Equipment: M, CM, CD/T
    Price: 8,224,380
    Location Planet Prophecy
Notes Local scientists have found the plans of several historical ships. One of these Ships was the light fighter Shroud. It was not possible to decode all information about the historical weapons, engines and thrusters because somehow parts of these plans got lost. Therefore some engineers came with the idea to mount modern VHF equipment on this ship. The result is a very agile and deadly fighter

Some ships have been classified as very light fighter or just as light and maybe you should try them.

I am interested in your post and wonder if the same ship with level 10 armour fought itself with no armour would the extra manuerverability on the lighter ship give it a chance against double armour?

Let me test this theory in training.

You are talking about the lovely system - Custodian - so close but try and touch .... it is a clan system.

The good BG guys are very helpful clan and will allow upto level 40 characters through their system if you ask.

That is a kindness on their behalf and we should appreciate it. Try the mod for some time and you genuinely wont even mind not have accessing it when you advance above level 40.

There are other ways there and part of the fun is finding that.

    Hey Poo,

I hope you give it another go.

There are rules for some systems simply because people pay for them and without that there would not even be a server.

I have played for ages and not having access to some systems is not a problem - when there are loads more to explore - its like not agreeing to play if you cant have the ball all the time.

There are rules, loads of them, and it is not always easy to stop and read them before you play - as you want to fly your ship right?

There is at least one smuggling clan online so talk to them or do it your way - but it can be done.

Actually - the rules are well thought out and hopefully been developd over time and if you take the time, you will see they make sense.

    Best wishes.

I think I saw you online the other day and it would be good to see you again.

If there isn't any official rules - maybe we should write them?

    Let me see . ..

In PVP, where both parties agree, these should be no use of Nanos etc

Freighters should be able to use Nanos in fights versus VHF, howver this probably wont be an agreed PVP as who in their right mind would take on a VHF in a freighter?

New players/low level players should be able to use Nans when attacked and overwhelmed by superior firepower and can also reserve the right to post a disparaging post on the forum about their killer but note its dangerous out there and they could be killed.

In terms of what is honourable or not - that would be difficult to get census on I think and we have to acknowledge some killing will not be done honourably.

As for smuglers, well they are smugglers anyway so we cant expect them to follow any honourable rules right?

    Hey finisher - interesting point.

I also made the decision to use Adv. Debilitators with my PPCS but was adivsed by wiser, more experienced, (and lets say much older) player to use Tizonas - and I will give it a go - if I dont like combo I will go back to Adv. Debilitators.

I am interested in PVP and would obviously like to be the best I can be without spoiling the fun I have on Xfire.

For those interested, I spent about 2 hours in Arena last night - after at one point taking on 5 DK Gunbats myself in X303 until the others decided to show up.

I was told a few things and even (due to practice) managed to LEARN something new.

Go on Az, press that, move the mouse this way, can you feel the drift? Go on, now your getting it etc

So thanks to Argos, Maniac, Eclipsya and UAC Doppleganger for letting me use them as shooting practice - much appreciated and I definately feel I have learned a new skill which I managed to use as the PVPs went on.

    Very interesting read.

Used bots and nanos when the Angel of Death was hunting me all over the place when I first joined this community.

Used them again in my first official PVP against Tanatos and was advised of the rules.

Used them once again when PROKILLER was shooting me in the back after I think he undocked and crashed into me and thought I had fired at him (killed me before I could explain).

Someone mentioned earlier that PVP should be down to skills and equipment - but is not bots/nanos part of the equipment categories? Aren't they a decision when choosing a ship? Just as buying Champion Shield or Project Pheonix Guns? Does not OP look at balance of the bot/shield ratio to cargo/speed when designing ships? It certainly looks like there is a balance being done and bots are included in the decision making

Don't remember using them again in PVP but I have been a bit suspicious of some players - but maybe that is more due to my poor shooting skills

    Anyway - I say
Dont allow them in agreed PVP (where rules r agreed b4 fight) or Arena
Remove them or raise price to 1mill each or something.
Limit the nano/shields to 25 each for all created ships (should be easy to do)

I may be a poor pilot as I could not have travelled through the Nomad Systems and to the Sovetskya without using them and then tractoring new ones - am I the only one using them against Nommies?

I accept the offical rules of VHF PVP is that u dont use them.

Best wishes to this forum - thanks for your help and friendship.

I am assuming that quite of few of us will have Level 10 VHF and will equip it with at least 4 Pheonix or Coalition Gatlings.

We would all like to enjoy ourselves in the game but also be able to defend ourselves from rougue elements if needed.

    So, in PVP, we have

    A. Skill of Pilot
    B. Ship we choose
    C. Selection of equipment in other slots ie. 2x9s (guns/missile/torps possible) and 1 turret
    D. Lag!!

Considering I am not good enough to do anything about A (although trying to get better) - can someone give me tips on B and C?

What is the name of the ship that has 6 level 10 gun slots available?

So far I have learned -
if your opponent is using missiles/torps - dont run straight at them at beginning of fight
Speed of ship and thruster power are very important
If u win - commit suicide - dont dock as this could cost you 700k (I learnt this from Tanatos - thanks mate)
You can beat better opponents if there is lag (thanks ur Highness)
Using guns that quickly reduce shields are good versus NPCs but don't help that much in PVP
