    hi there,

I would like to point out that if you are used to the vanilla FL missions, you will find the CF ones quite a bit harder.
with this in mind I would advise you to play the game from the beginning, it will acclimatise you to the harder more intelligent NPC's in the CF storyline.
also you can purchase far superior ships to help you through them, where you were limited in what ships and weaponry you could buy in the vanilla version.

anyways it is your choice, enjoy the mod and the extended storyline. me - I am waiting for the new mod to come out.

    have fun

this is probably for OP to answer.

for some time now, I have been receiving e-mails concerning ticket system questions and answers. the e-mail contains a URL that should take the reader to the relevant answer.
however, when I get there, on the portal, I am told that I don't have the relevant permissions to be on that page. so, my question is this, why am I being sent these e-mails???

    that is all.

    cheers

alternatively, you could re-install the mod, but this time choose the colour blind option, the sight will then be white.
I am colour blind myself and couldn't see the red sight in most of space, I still have troubles coz enemies turn red.

ahhhh, just re-read your original post.

once you are into the cf storyline, enemies (except for who you are supposed to face) seem to disappear. also you shouldn't go off doing other stuff or else the story line triggers fail.

you could, of course, go back to before the start of the new storyline, and with your new found wealth, buy a decent fighter then equip it before going on to Berlin. just be sure to start
you trip to Berlin from Manhattan.

    hope that helps??

the sabre is a reasonable ship, sort of. the best free class 10 guns are the nomad ones, they do not use any of the ship's energy, so are as good as anything really. also they will sort out your problem of not denting enemies shields.

    have fun.

    cheers

    Ray OK

    totally agree.

I have played all three Elite games on various machines, and loved them all.

in fact I still have Frontier Elite 2 and Frontier First Encounters along with their boxes and all the stuff inside. of course they are useless now as computers these days do not have floppy disk drives, but the memory is still with me.

I have been waiting patiently for Elite 4, and may well never actually see it, but I still live in hope. :sigh

I would agree with ajay except for the codenames.

an alternative ship is the chimera from helios, it also is very agile but has a much bigger cargo hold. once u have that go to Freeport 7 and kill nomads so that u can pick up their dropped guns.
the good feature of the nomad guns is that they don't use any of your ships power so you can keep your finger on the trigger and blast away forever.

anyways, you now have choices, have fun.

    regards

    Ray OK

hmmmm, don't know what error E5 is.

could it be that u have picked up a virus???

it all sounds quite serious. if it was me I would find an old restore point and go back to that, though that doesn't answer your immediate question.

it is all I can suggest, sorry.

    cheers

    Ray OK

yes, I get that all the time. my own solution is to reboot the computer and then restart the game. with me it is just gremlins, it could be something entirely different in your case.

hope it works out for you, I know how frustrating it can be.

    cheers

    Ray OK

OMG, so it has finally happened.

I am gutted, crestfallen, saddened, in fact whatever is understood in the many languages of people on this forum.

not much that I can say really, merely echo OP's thoughts.

hi, I spent a long time trying to find out how. the information is on the forum, in bits and pieces, all over. hopefully what I have here is a one stop shop as it were.

I hope this is useful for newish players who don't know how it is done and wish to expand their fleets.

TUTORIAL FOR CREATING AND SWITCHING FREELANCER ID's
    ______________________________________________________

First of all i must give the credits to Michael, WhiskeyRunner and Forlon. i have read their posts, PM'd them for advice, and finally, found out how the damn thing is achieved. :D So anyway, the first time that u use the Freelancer Mod an ID is generated for you within FL, it is vital that this account ID is printed out or written out so that u have a record.

The tool that i used was FL ID Changer and when u know what to do it is really simple. another very important point for u all to know is that to CREATE addition ID's u first have to CREATE additional computer USER ACCOUNTS this can be done easily through Control Panel, User Accounts. you can create as many user accounts as you like, and switch using Start (shutdown) switch user. then of course delete them if not required after their use.

When u are in a new user account and start playing the FL Mod, a new FL ID will be generated, make a record also of the new FL ID. On your own computer, and your main user account, no matter what u do FL ID will always generate your original FL ID. When u first access FL ID Changer you will see first attached picture (FLID - ID main).

Where it says 'current FL ID installed' it will have auto-detected your current FL ID. First then, save it. Then press the 'clear installed FL ID' button. Right then, fire up your FL mod and your current FL ID will show up for you to 'create'. DELETE the ID and replace it with one that u have already printed or written. carry on to the game then go back to your desk top where fig1 should now be displaying your new FL ID at the top, as before. save that FL ID, then go to 'manage FL ID's how you can see on second attached picture (FLID - ID selection).

In the 'Select ID' box there should be 2 separate FL ID's. highlight one of them and press 'change FL ID'. That will then become the new FL ID account when u go back into your game. From then on switching is easy, when landed F1 gets you the menu, press 'main menu' then press alt+tab which will get u to the desk top, change ID's as previously shown and go back to the game with a different set of characters. it is that easy.

PS perhaps, also, someone would translate this tutorial into the German language, thank you

:) yes, the idea has merit, and with a bit of POSITIVE thought, could well be improved upon and in someway incorporated.

Michael, such negative thoughts and sarcasm are beneath you methinks. especially as you are normally so very helpful on these forums ;)

I, for one, am eagerly awaiting CF2.0, the sequel, and something along the lines of nighthunters idea would help considerably with the RP ethos of the game. I am sure that forlon would relish the idea,
and concoct a scenario for his roleplay games in MP.

that is my two cents worth.

martind is right, to a point. there is another alternative - if u have at least 1 million credits in your account, go to custodian and buy a cheap vhf like a sabre, also get a level 10 shield and a couple of half decent guns. after the purchases go to the x system and then to the Freeport 7 gate and kill nomads to collect their guns. nomad guns do not use any of your ships power and are quite powerful. in fact this configuration will see you through most of the game and allow you time to build up your cash and experience enough to buy a decent ship and better equipment.

it is merely an alternative, one that I used. have fun, the SP campaign is a good tutorial for the CF MP.

    cheers

please don't lose heart. take it from me, the mission is do-able, albeit with a great deal of difficulty. I am 66 years old, 67 in a weeks time, and I did it, barely and went on to complete the storyline. my eyesight is gradually failing and I am red/green/brown colourblind. I am probably the worst PvP player on the site, but I managed the mission, and will now tell u how I did it in a relatively crappy vhf fighter.

first, obviously go the the gmg station and get the mission to kill 3 ancients. then go to the waypoint, when u arrive u will see approx. 11km out an ancient drone coming, do not engage but make your run
for the utopia jumphole. engage the drones near the hole and when u have three, get the hell out and mission over, if u survive the nomads waiting in utopia lol.

please believe me the mission is do-able but the subsequent missions are much harder to survive lol. try again and again and have fun.

    cheers

    ;):rolleyes::|

in first place id like to see ppl on the server and clans paying their systems
the current server situation is a nightmare and if that does not change anytime soon ill have to close it

if ever you decide to close the server, IMHO, it would devastate an awful lot of caring, loyal people.
however, as always, it is your choice.

whether you like it or not, you have many friends on this forum who respect and admire you very much. please think carefully before pulling the plug.

    just saying
