If I remember correctly, you can't mount a power generator on a freighter. You can only mount them on fighter ships. So buying a power gen for an APC or Bullpup MkIII is a waste of money. It just sits in your cargo hold.
And, as GK has experienced, if you die, it goes poof.

2) The main reasons for exiling all players above lvl 60 from NY are, as far as i understand, campers in NY and maybe the intention of OP to make people visit other systems more often.
Point 1 is just a failure in information policy, which can be easily handled by making a short notice in the forum in ADVANCE.
Point 2 is a little bit more complicated for me, as I have to guess, what intentions OP had with this step, but the Problem with real campers was handled in the forum in a very detailed form.
SP had already the necessary tools at hand, to handle this situation. You got problems with campers, so warn and / or kick / ban them.
You got problems with high level players "farming gold" in NY? Create some other interesting routes for traders (Just have a look at the famous Sol-Run). As long as 1 point of the Route is outside NY, pirates do have chance.I do appreciate the work of OP a lot, as I had much fun so far, but as far as I´m concerned, this action was totally unnecessary.

I may be wrong about this Mephisto, but I think the reason for the ban was to prevent experienced pilots from running to NY to escape opposing pirates during ASF-CSF roleplay. -

there were probs with void months ago... and the trouble did not completly end... but i see no reason to punish the players for this
in fact i noticed many players from void on CF these days.... clans... and alot of ppl which want to join BG atm
i will not interprete too much into this situation even if i had some trouble with strail again one week ago
Sounds reasonable Op.
"Welcome Espana" comes the message from my product of China that only types English characters.
If I type, "Bienvenue mon ami!" does that make it a European keyboard? -
Whenever you modify Freelancer, your firewall settings will need to be updated. This is especially true if you're usein ZoneAlarm. Each time I install the newest level of Crossfire (I've been with it since 1.5), I uninstall and reinstall Freelancer. This process wipes ZoneAlarm's settings so, despite the fact that you had it set to allow Freelancer.exe full access to the internet, you will have to do it again.
And, if your version of ZA works like mine, you will have to do that before you try to connect.
Open the Program settings, find Frelancer.exe and check the buttons to give it unfettered internet access and to allow it to work as a server. Once that's done, you should be able to connect to the global server. -
Speaking of trespassers in clan systems, there's a new character online by the name of Slick-Wilie-McGoo who delights in trading in clan systems when there's no one home to watch the gate. I confronted him in Casius and he dismissed the whole idea of clan space and refused to leave. I killed him twice and he snuck out to invade Seltos and later Purian Lake. He spent quite a while in Purian Lake--perhaps buying (stealing) a Warblade. Here's a screenshot for the Fallen clan members to view and consider.
IOC has issued a KOS for this character to teach him a lesson about violating clan systems. Anyone from MW or Fallen who wants a piece of the action is invited to join in the hunt. -
Wasn't the whole Void thing a big taboo here just a few months ago?

That's only true in MP Trinity. In SP, your rank advances by alternately making money and completing the plot missions. For instance, you may go from level 8 to level 9 my making more money, but then to reach level 10 you have to complete a plot mission. At that point, your rank will not increase to level 10 no matter houw much money you earn. You will be stuck at level nine with access to only level 9 ships and weapons until you complete the next mission.QuoteSecondly, modding a saved file can corrupt it... or just not work... It's way more difficult... If you want to make things easy, I don't know for sure, but you can try a trainer which increases/freezes your amount of money.
What's a trainer?QuoteThird, you'd probably be better off just finding a way to make quick money, making it that way, buying the ship you want, then going forth with whatever.
Can't do it in SP. See note on "First off...."Any other suggestions?

It's probably your firewall.

That brings up a similar question. I'm playing the Single Player version too, and I'd like to be able to fly the plot missions this time in a Shroud, Predator or other Crossfire VHF (Take that, Nomads!) But I seem to be stuck. I'm at level 5 with 2.5million credits and I can't buy any VHF's because you have to be at level 30 to do so. I learned from my playing of the SP verion of 1.65 that you have to...

you have to buy whatever you're going to buy in Liberty before the 3rd California mission (the defense of Willard Research Station) because afterward all of Liberty, and therefore, almost every dockable base in Custodian, and the new X-3043 linked systems goes hostile. So I'm trying to buy and outfit a cool Crossfire VHF before the point of no return.
I have just about given up on finding one and am thinking about installing SDK and editing the saved game file to give my char 40million credits and a level of 32 so I can buy what I want and continue in the storyline.
If I succeed in figuring out how to edit my saved game to tweak my money and level, it will be my first FL modification. And there will be great rejoicing. But I expect it to be a challenging and time-consuming undertaking (but not as time consuming as reading this post, eh?)So I have two questions: If I succeeed in modifying the save game,
1) will it screw up my CF MP account or gameplay?
2) will it make the SP game crash, resulting in more hair loss and higher blood pressure?
3) Is there a VHF I can buy at level 5 so I don't have to risk either of the above?? -
We reinstalled CF and the problem disappeared. :]

Yes it is. Welcome to Crossfire Daniel. -
Yeah, it's generally not a good idea to piss off a bounty hunter.

I'm told the CSF pilots are the most valuable, but I haven't bagged one yet.

Are there any VHF ships that can be purchased early in the stoyline, before all of (spoiler alert)
...
...before all of the Liberty bases and therefore all the bases in the new systems become hostile? I'm at level 5 and can afford a Dark Angel VHF (at Ice Palace) but I have to be level 24 to buy it.

Glad to hear it OP. Enjoy the weekend.

That makes a lot of sense Marhall/Lance. I'd love to have a Midnight Hammer to complement my APC. Something for heavy combat or trading in hostile territory.
And it would patch the big plot hole at the end of Freelancer. Orillion asks Trent to be his eyes and ears in Liberty, but never contacts him again. If we assume the Order continues to be a strong force in the war against the Nomads and DK, and we are involved by having to fight said critters, it would make sense to be able to fly Order ships again.
(in addition to the Deimos, that is.) -

Milkshape 3D (Needed to making freelancer ships.)I'd list off some downloadable ones, but I use 3DS Max 8.
Sounds pricey. Guess I'll stick with trying to figure out CorelDREAM 3D... -
The Serenity looks fabulous. Slate that for 1.75 please. btw, I have some designs I'd like to translate to 3D too. They're only sketches though. What software is best for modeling?
