ok finally i found some time to write this

you ppl put so much time and effort into bitching at each other that you dont realize the only truth in this
the reason for your problems are you both... you all (to extend it to the rest of the community)

im not sure about your way of thinking but i believe its terribly one sided
you see it either from the point of the member or from the point of the leader
but you dont see it from the point of the community itself

so let me explain what i think about the whole situation here and then you can judge
but be aware that both sides wont look good afterwards

the leaders job is to lead... some leaders often seem to forget about that... they say "lets create a clan" then they recruit some members... and soon after that that clan starts dying because the leaders didnt put enough time and work into this clan... into their members... into the training... the administration... the leading
in this point the leaders are guilty of what they have done
if you decide to lead a clan you should know that you take up the responsibility about a bunch of members and that you cant say "fuck you all - i go" just a few weeks later

true such moments can appear over time... and even i was in that situation several times.... but either i tried to find a solution for my clan or i decided to go on with that job
to leave your members behind is the worst you can do because they have put their trust in you and your clan

the members which think they join a clan and can do whatever they want... go to other servers and so on aint better
you have taken up responsibilities towards your clan and your clanmates
when you did join your clan you decided to play together with them, help them and represent them (on the server your clan has choosen)
if you are just about to play where ever you want... then why did you join a clan?

you guys did join clans or lead clans... and both sides have duties/responsibilities and rights
if you come now and say different that you also say that you were not honest to the others... not honest to your members... not honest to your leaders... and for sure not honest to the entire clan

and this is for all clans here... for all leaders... for all members
think about what your duties and responsibilities are... think about what you can do for those you call your friends... think about your place in this community

many clans have some internal probs... just to name the recruitment crap...
most of you see some1, recruit him, give him a tag and wonder why this member is gone just 1 week later
have you ever thought about checking members first? have you ever tried to create some kind of recruitment procedure?
i tell you how we do it in BG:

1. we get a membership request via mail (usually a member had contact to this guy before)
2. we open a discussion topic about this guy publishing all information we have about him/her
3. we ask our members if they had contact to this possible new member
4. if there was no contact then we send a member to open some contact to this possible new member
5. if we find something we dont like in the information that were given to us or from our experience with this guy on the server then we deny the membership
6. we make sure that the member did read our rules
7. me make sure that we have a valid email adress
8. me make sure that the new member has access to the forum
9. and they we try to integrate this new member in our clan

and now you can compare our way of recruitment with yours... and then you can compare our problems with disappearing members with yours and you will notice that BG knows where our members are and that our members dont make as much trouble as yours

just take this as an example... there are many other probs and im also aware that we have probs in BG aswell... but unlike others we try to solve problems instead of ignoring them

in my eyes you simply give up while you simply should search for solutions

again i had to read something about multi-server/multi-game clans O_o
please stay realistic - you guys were not able to run a simple FL clan, how can you even think about leading something that is "multi"
i tell you where this will end... in a "multi-disaster" where you guys disappoint and loose even more friends

how many clans have left from CF to other servers? how many? how many wanted to go "multi"?

lets see:
IcePirates -> dead
Gods -> disappeared/dead
Chaos -> dead
DC -> decided for CF before it was too late
Fallen -> decided for CF before it was too late
R39 -> dying
PiA -> dying
UAC -> is dying on both servers if nothing does change

i could name even more clans which did a stupid decision
i also could show you the opposite of that list...
-> "can somebody please name a CF serverclan which did stick to the community but died in the past 3 years?"
(i would b surprised if some1 would know one)

you want to play other mods? you want to play on other servers from time to time?
ok fine
but what you do know is split your clan into 2 parts... each part being weak and not able to solve the problems
you spread out to other servers... your clanleaders dont know where you are... your clanleaders need to know where you are because its their job to plan things for YOUR clan... they cant lead the clan if they dont know about your status... they cant do their job
and the members cant do their job if the clanleaders dont do the same

its quiete simple... the leaders need to know where the members are to do their jobs
and the members need to know that the leaders are still around doing their jobs
both needs each other... that is a fact
if one side doesnt do its job everything you created will fail... is that what you want?
is it so hard to stick with the clan you have choosen?

i tell you something about freedom
you guys most likely are or where living together with a girl... how was it? Did you have your freedom?
I bet you had to make compromises to ensure that living together with her and a personal freedom is possible.
and here it is the same - you have to give up some of your freedom to get something even bigger back
if you have a problem with that then you are completly wrong in a clan and should never join one in the rest of your life.
a clan does take time and work
and all members need to work for it if they want it to be successful

i noticed many things these days... beginning with clanleaders which are not online to lead their clans (i havent seen some of the leader for a very long time)
and there are members which didnt do their duties... which didnt stick with their clan in times of need
i also noticed this stupid flaming all over the forum about stupid pointless shit... and all this isnt good for the community
not to mention that ppl which keep complaining about not enough RP whilst it is their responsibility to get roleplay running
some ppl seem to wait for something instead of doing the right decisions
you want roleplay then do it
you want events then run some

hell im still waiting for a working event shedule... im already waiting for it for months now... and there are still ppl which are complaining about not enough events or no console rights for event managers (how should i know who is event manager if i dont even have a event shedule?)

you guys keep waiting for some1 who does the work that is YOUR responsibility and if nobody does it you start complaining

well ok - i have to admit that i am pretty glad that there are at least a hand full of ppl which took up the responsibility to improve things... without those guys i would be lost here

what do you expect from this community?
i tell you what i wrote about 11 months ago in a thread called "a dream"

that thread was started by me because i was asked about the future of the SWAT-Portal
my dream was to have a community that does stick together... clans that work together
a few mods on different servers that all are part of this community
hmm lets stick with this idea

right now you think you need to play on different servers for what reason ever... dunno
your clan is splitted... the leaders are here... there members there

why not working together to get some projects running and finished so we can have not only a 24/7 SWAT Crossfire? why cant we work together to get problems solved. why cant we work together to extend this community... create new mods... new servers...
wouldnt it look good to go online and see the following:

24/7 SWAT Crossfire
24/7 SWAT Blaster Universe
24/7 SWAT SirEx
24/7 SWAT Scifi Wars
24/7 SWAT The Darkening

all those mods created and running on servers that belong to THIS community... wouldnt it be good if your clans would be part of it... wouldnt it be good if you guys here would have dont your part to help to create all this?
Wouldnt it be cool if your clans could play on all those SWAT servers but still be united because it is SWAT... because it is the same community... because all ppl from all those servers would come to the same place to meet, discuss and share experiences
Wouldnt it be good to have the choice without being seperated from the rest of the clans?

from my point of view this is a vision worth working for... and you know that i took up the responsibility for helping to make this possible

What i say now will sound harsh but its the truth
Either you help to create such a vision or you can go to other communities and watch FL dying while your friends will disappear bit by bit

It is your decision if you start to get your ass up and do something or if you keep loosing everything

Very well said and very true OP, i think we all have to sit back and have a think about all of it, as you say for things to work all have to play thier part and do what they are supposed to do and if they dont yep it falls apart, prime example is SL, not pointing any fingers or bad mouthing anyone we joined for a reason and were proud to do so and are STILL proud to wear that tag, no offence has been meant to anyone and if it has been taken then i do appolagise, the main thing we are lacking and ALL calns must do to make things work is COMUNICATE and get involved in things that are happening, without that vital comunication and active involvement in 4 weeks or so this is what has happened so i think everything OP has said is right on the mark not just for the command chain but us aswell, i will add 1 more thing to Gust on this and say no more of it...Not every comment or suggestion has been a complaint and the topics that were repeated were simply brought up again and again to try and push things along no flaming no bitching just trying to pull us together a bit

I'd like to point out (again) that tjis thread was started because I heard our last active members left. This was not the case and I'm sure as hell going to try again. I already sent an email to Warlock about it and he should know my thoughts once he reads it. I said this to you guys before and I'll say it again, we need to start over, because our past had no origination at all. I have put a lot of time in the clan, but if no one is playing, there is no much use in commanding. Warlock will probably tell you about the email scream, so I guess you should just wait until he reads it.

As a final note about the multifailure It wasn't the idea to create a clan like here, but just friends playing together. The freelancer division would be the part where most attention would go to anyway. I'm not sure if you can get in my mind here, but I tried :]

like i said... you are not able to lead one clan... so you cant expect that leading a multiclan does work
it does come with way more problems you can solve... including mistrust

I meant RL friends which I can beat the crap out if they dont obey me. :] Since most of my friends don't play FL, but they do want to be in a clan with it just seemed like a nice idea and it still does actually.
O, and don't come telling me I can't run a clan, because I never even was the leader until this thread started.

The successful clans of Crossfire and the ones who are succeeding are doing so for a few primary reasons. There are other reasons as well, which are clan specific:

1. Strong Leaders who are accountable for their clans and their clans actions. Also noting, you do what is right, even at your own expense.

2. Growth planning and adjusting that plan to fit the needs of the clan AND community.

3. Trust, trust from the leaders to the members and from the member to the leaders.

4. Community trust. The other clans and players trust your clans integrity and role. (refer to line 1)

5. Team work.....no need to explain this one.

6. Communication: enough said on this one too.

You all wonder why CFPD is small. One of our criteria is having freelance server time AND be well known in the community.

Merc role play is a hard one and u need to be well known by all the community to attract contracts.

What about changing your RP to something that allows u to be proactive like Pirate. They dont need contracts they can just go out and its instant action.

Just a thought.

I appreciate the suggestion, but mercs are mercs. I know I am one and I would never give up the role.

IOC do it as does CFPD (ish-as in corrupt police), UAC are smugglers, but i'll take merc/contract work! any way to boost UAC's economy!!

good Ideia dopp, and it is true that it's hard to take only one role since we all smugle for example, same way you join a fight to kick a pirate ass, why can't police be hunted time to time

about clans, all I can say is that a clan is not made in one or 2 months, it can't be made of only newbs, specialy a merc clan.
