OP when I last had a problem with the Armoured Transport I flew straight to Regalis through Custodian and bought the ship with no problems. But on an attempt to leave the station it hung up and crashed to my desktop. When I went back in I was back in my Starflyer. No special equipment except for what came with the Starflyr. No exorbit amount of money. We usually flew the AT without guns or such because it indicated that it took BS turrents that were rather expensive. And the armour was so good, no extra was needed. So nothing extra was bought for the ship. And I had no other characters created at the time.
There was a report to me early this morning, (Sunday), that Elite Defender was not taking damage in a fight.
I will test that myself in game today.
Lashan use the Freedom fighter online for a long time. She went in and out of Altair with the ship. Maybe she can give some more info about the ship.
As for myself I used th AT for almost 15 hours (5 with 1.6 and 10 with with 1.61) online on both versions and extensively visit several systems and I never got kick for cheating out of the server.
About the kick to descktop this rare thing happen to me occasionally with any ship (3 different types)but in freeport 7 but rarely. Maybe the ships are not the problem...

PS: I use Freedom fighter for SP in 1.6 for the whole SP campaign and didnt have any trouble. I tried to modiied stuf to speed up things but CF didnt let me so I think the anticheat also works offline 
I tested it on the 1.61 tests, the problem was not to buy this ship, the problem was to undock with it, everytime I tried, I got detected as a cheater and kicked out of the server. As far as I know the same happened to ChiefRedCloud, Wavey and Petrus....
Later I reported the bug to you OP, you have made something, I tested it again, it seemed to be OK....maybe the pipl who told you about this bug again had still the old 1.61 version??? Or older chars from 1.60....but as I said, after you have made a new 1.61 version, I was able to take the Armored Transport and use it for whatever I wanted
I used AT for many days and for me, there was not any problem (I mean at the time before the server was offline for many days)... except those server crashing we all have experienced at that time.

7 flak turrets and 2 BS turrets listed gonna try and buy 1 of each
worked fine no bugs ,was a new char ,couldnt afford any more guns tho.

well talking about AT try to dock at detroit with it, or in a BS.
in detroit you can try 20 times before you do it.
in a BS the problem is almost the same.
like that the auto dock program mesures wrong the size of the ship.
BS at detroit? didnt know it had a mooring fixture

Argos is saying to dock AT with Detroit or a battleship is very difficult.
Elite Defender in Casius seemed fine today, no crashing or kicks. However, taking damage from ASF npc in X was rather slow.
Also, the Nemesis, Cataclysm and Sunslayers are not tracking targets, NPC's or players. Cd's were used to intercept the sunslayer and the cd went through it instead
I had the same problem with the Shooting Star as Wavey, except that the first time I bought one I couldn't even launch, and had only minimal equipment mounted. (In detail: I began a launch sequence, part way through launch "loading" screen the game crashed to desktop, and on attempting to re-load repeatedly crashed.)
I erased the character, tried again with the same setup, was able to launch and fly it for approx. 3-4hrs before a server crash in Enyo(?) with no special equipment apart from a Champion Shield and 4x MKII Special Project weps(can't remember which ones) caused the crashing to desktop to start again.
I'm currently flying a Malice which is currently partly loaded out (only need dual mines and mosquito's for it), and have had no problems/irregularities with it so far.
i had problems with AT while undocking(same thing happened with the liberty cruiser) It got stuck at the shipyard at regalis(and carmona- for the Liberty ship) it started hitting the walls of the dock and after that i had to press F3 seferal times before i manage to get out of that "box"
And for the Liberty cruiser i have screenshots showing how one side of it is showing from dock1(carmona shipyard) and the other side sticking from the other dock(dock2) - and just to notify this happened only in SP when i bought those 2 in MP i had no problems of any kind .
