Freelancer.exe blocked by Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware

    thanks for the awesome mod.


    Today, Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware detected and blocked Freelancer.exe.

    I uploaded the file to virustotal.com, which (as expected) returned 0/56 positives.


    I still wonder why the file is being picked up and whether Malwarebytes should be contacted about a false positive?

    Sure, I can exclude the file from being scanned. I suspect that potential players may be scared away from the mod if their AV scanner tell's them that it's going to encrypt their hdd. That's why I was wondering if it might be a good idea to inform malwarebytes about the false positive. I'm also curious what aspect of the .exe is responsible for the (generic) alert.

    Excluding can work, FL will not encrypt the HDD, as it hasn't with anyone else that I've heard of. My old PC had a problem similar like that, so I turned it off and it worked fine. I think about the .exe is because it is it is run by an unknown author that the computer hasn't heard of before, so it treats it as "untrusted" Like the apple software do, so the Generic alert is probably known for the "untrusted" Side of things

    please if you can, its always good send report (or send file for theirs own scan) to AV manufacturer for false positive check. AVs messing with CF files are behind big % of players issues with CF mod.

    you should report it as false positive so this problem can get fixed
