Crossfire 2.0 Launcher problems
let me know of the results. -
I reinstalled my Windows, and I'm downloading .NET framework and Visual C++ now.
-
Finally fixed it, thanks to Huor's help (a bit ) :
- Start Menu > Run > MSCONFIG
- Select the tab "Tools", click Change UAC settings, click "Launch"
- Move the slide to Never Notify, press OK, restart your machine
- If you don't have CCleaner, download it.*
- Open CCleaner, select Registry, click Scan for Issues, when it's done, Fix Selected Issues*
- Fix the issues*
- Select Cleaner, select Run Cleaner*
- Let it finish*
- Done.*
- Restart your machine*
- Open your Microsoft Folder (Default: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games), right click on the folder "Freelancer", "Properties", deselect Read-Only, and apply
- When it's applied, do not press okay. Double click the folder, go into the EXE folder, find "Freelancer.exe"
- Right click, "Properties", "Compatibility" tab, select Run as Administrator and select Compatibility mode Windows XP SP2/3
- Repeat step 13. for LauncherUpdater.exe
- Run game. GGWP you're playing.
* - Optional step, not required but it's advised to do it. -
Followed these steps. Am running fresh install, used instructions in FAQ.
Everything administrator. Everything compatibility. LauncherUpdater says: QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Access denied.
Antivirus is off, Firewall is off, folders set to write.
I have spent far too many hours trying to get this to work. Freshly reinstalled everything multiple times. When I try to play the game without an update, it crashes after the intro screens.
I have seen the crash issue posted by a number of people in this subforum, I guess I am assuming an update would help fix these issues.
I don't really know whether this is an issue with specific hardware, Windows 8.1, or a bug that is affecting alot of people. -
what are the versions of launcherupdater.exe and freelancer.exe?
-
Snickers Crispycrunch Can you please follow guide attached in next post? Your launcher message may indicate that something block launcher correct functioning (UAC, antivirus (sw off may be not enough in some cases), read only flag. ... )
Edit byAbove mentioned files in Huor's post are both in /EXE folder -
-
have started the Freelancer.exe as administrator from the installation folder on your harddrive ? ( C/:Microsoft Games/ Freelancer ....
