Does this mod have player owned space stations/buildings like discovery does? Also,is there really any population left in this server , I just recently found out about this awesome game, and sadly I found out about it as it was dying
Couple newbie questions

Hello, and welcome aboard! First let's answer the most important question, the game and the server is not dying! How much activity you see depends on the day of the week, time of day and time of year. Lots of players are students. Now that most schools are out there will be more on the server. There are over13,000 members in the community and more joining every day. Also a lot of players are waiting for the new mod to come out. Take the time to load up CF1.9 and play it. 2.0 will be more challenging! Lots of changes, additions, improvements, etc, etc... You can join and search this forum for information and also Moddb. On here there is a thread called "Preview". So stay around and spread the word, you won't be sorry and you will have fun!

player owned stations do not exist in Crossfire 1.9 but are part of the Crossfire 2.0 mod
but unlike discovery we have a much more complex base design which perfectly integrates into our new clan management and conquest system

To answer initial question - Crossfire 2.0 will have 'clans' owned bases which will be possible upgrade. Access and management for these bases will be in clan leaders hands. New mod version will bring many things which are focused on server role-play and server clans. Players chars will be transfered, so if you will made some progress and chars build-up (in 1.9), you will have them also in 2.0.

OK. Now to a completely different "noob" question:
I know Crossfire is hard. But currently I am shocked with how bad tricks I have to beat the SP Missions. Currently I have to guard a transport in California to Reasearch Station Willard. The transport gets attacked and the freaking attackers destroy me in my Liberty Defender within a few seconds! The only thing I can do is to activate my Cruise Engine and fly in circles, hoping I keep their attention for the others to shoot them. I can enter combat mode for a few seconds to maybe destroy a damaged one, but thats it. TOO hard with Defender!
Before that I earned 1 Million through trading with the Swashbuckler freighter. After that I wantetd to buy a good Heavy FIghter, because combat is very hard with the Liberty Defender.
I looked in the Wiki and wanted to buy a Falcon or Valkyrie from Rheinland. - But the Gates are closed! I seems I have to stay in the Liberty system. BUT I can't find a better Combat Ship than the Defender! And no, I don't want to keep trading until I earn 35 Million for a Gunboat. Is there a better Combat Ship in Liberty early on (lvl5) better than Defener? Maybe I missed it.

Dear Flashpoint,
with a bit of training the missions are even be done with a Startracker or better the Police Patriot - VEEERY manouverable ;),
but the Shade will do fine too.
For its "proper" weapon equipment - search a bit the rims of the radiation cloud in the upper left corner of Texas (forgot the name). There you can find some fine loot. The other ships you mentioned are to be found ..... elsewhere in Sirius AFTER you get the .... possibility to leave Liberty-space, what might become somewhat ... troublesome
