What's hapening with my ID?

There are 12 replies in this Thread. The last Post () by Night-Hunter.

    So, here is my problem.
    I use FLID to switch to my primary ID. Connecting to CF server. I get a character list and select my primary.
    Then dialogue window "Please wait. The requested operation takes longer than expected, press ESC to exit to main menu". I press Esc, and then Freelancer freezes for some time. If I wait, it says "We're sorry, the connection to this server has been lost..."
    Then it returns back and doesn't shows CF server.
    Other IDs work, but there are graphic lags.


    Is that my ID got damaged (Storage + 3 cloaks), so I will need to delete my Secondary2 (the char I need least)? Or is that server problem since I see "could not write to the server's socket" on server status on Crossfire site?
    However my ID was alive yesterday as I've done some flights, including one to Inner Core.

    "could not write to the server's socket" is a different problem
    about the rest... dunno

    How much unequipped items was on this char?
    Was this ID with normal chars and storage? or it was only one strage char on seprate ID?

    It was my (originally) only ID so there was a storage among usual chars. Some of them have cloaking device.
    I know it might be something with it. I wanted to ask: will deletion of one of chars (with cloak) restore things?
    (I know I'm a noob that couldnt have a time to get storage to other char)

    I think that you have a real bad network connection to the server. I get the same symptoms sometimes and I restart my pc.
    What's your "normal" ping with server ?


    If you have an empty space on that ID to make a new char, try that (you probably don't have) or delete a char which you won't miss ^^

    You have to wait for solution on your problem before delete some characters (that's final solution if other not help you). If is small problem, cleaning on your PC maybe will solved the problem (if you have error on FLID). In worst case scenario you have re-install all (the game and mod). ?( Is bad to delete all characters on some ID. :cursing:

    Ajay: this explain all (imo). Problem is that your ID (char or chars) was/were corrupted due "too many equipment" on it. There is not exact number what is "too much" but info/experience I got is that max 300 equipment on ID and 100 on single char. With more rise chance for problem exponencially. Next to this is more as recomended to have storages as standalone char on separate ID and have there max around 90 unequipped equipment. I myself lost one full storage before I got and applied advice above ... from that point no more probs.

    Well, thanks OP and Forlon, problem is solved. I sucessfuly connected the server today.
    My first battleship that got deleted won't apparently get missed, as I rarely used it.
    I think I soon will need help to transfer some equipment to not let this happen again.

    Not completely yet, I have a lot more of guns to dump.
    But partially yes, now my most precious trophies won't get lost, and I'm thakful for that.
    P.S. anyone who is equipping a new char, today I'm giving away Nyses'o Blasters and Que-irtor guns for free.
