I don't really understand it.
Most people who "trade" don't even know what trading actually means.
Trading is nothing else than getting the most cash out of selling stuff you bought for as less credits as possible.
eg.
bying water for 5 and selling it for 30 = 500% profit
bying BMG for 1500 and selling it for 2000 = 50% profit. Get the difference?
It's not about making 100 million within 10 minutes.
You guys can't really expect to be on the run for 10 minutes and having earned 100 milion. The cargo usage of some sort of commodity is mean now, yes. Water/1 | Diamonds/3. So you can load 2.500 water on a train but you can only load 833 diamonds. But you have to admit, you make higher profit with the low commodity than you do with the "high value" stuff. You risk less but you get way more out of it (in the long run)
Other thing is the mass effect.
Sure its kinda odd when a starflier flips you off the track for about 4k while you are in a BS (for example).
Been through that myself. Flying a BS (which should have a lot more mass than a light fighter) and there it comes TL distrupted and right behind me are an NPC in his starflier bumping into me (because of that distrupted TL) and I see myself stop spinning more than 4k above the TL.
Same thing is when you fly with train or cap ship through asteroid fields. The smallest rock makes you flip like a pinball, spinning like crazy completely. But when you try to turn your vessel you need eternaties to get in another direction from standing. But hey. It's a game.
When you see it like "its not real, thats not possible and so on"
Then tell me please, how is it possible for a vessel IN SPACE to stop almost immediately without having to press any engine boost backwards in order to make a reverse burst for a slow down?
Tell me how is it possible for a CRUISE distrupter to bring your vessel to an almost immediate stand still, when being hitted while NOT being in cruise but in "sliding mode" ?It's a GAME mates.
If you want something real, then go in your garage and repair your car, play with your girlfriend, or make some homework for school. No offense. -
im not blaming anyone its just that i dont understand what you expect

its just that i dont understand what you expectI'm afraid, most don't even really know what they want to begin with.
You can put as much effort as you want into something, but you won't please everyone. No matter what you try to do. Unfortunately. -

1. Easy, anti-inertia system (aka own gravitational field generator in RL), it's seen in Star Trek, Stargate Universe, and some other places. The ship suddenly stops, and the people inside as well. In their seats, not splashed on the wall
2. Easy again, the cruise disruptor is not just a missile with an electric charge to stop your systems, it's a missile loaded with a projectile that when blowing up creates a small energized area which acts like a shield (field) which only blocks material with high speed, allowing lower speed one continue, like a filtering system. No matter you are in cruise or just "sliding". A thing seen in a Stargate episode, at some alien, where bullets couldn't pass by the shield but a knife thrown-by-hand yes. (and this was how a mortal human could hit that alien.)There you go, Crossfire/FL is a perfect game now

Dude.
Star Trek, Stargate Universe and all the others are fiction, and nothing real.
People have been complaining about things not being real, not possible, ect.CF is still a game.

I'm just using my imagination
Real Life is the worst game, so that's why we need these games.
-
Yeah, sure, I should feel guilty. Go play with a rabid bear, Michael.
Fine, drop the whole inertia thing.
OP, I haven't seen anyone make use of the smuggling routes. Fixed, distant and low profit, they make no sense as they're not worth smuggling. I know that's a lot of time and effort invested, but it doesn't work, in my opinion.
RP is concentrated to Tokyo - Berlin now (and systems in between), and that's mostly it.I won't count cargo pods, since you said they'd be fixed.
And I don't understand this thing about increased cargo for trains. In 1.82, Soulforge had 5000 capacity, and now 2500, and some commodities take up double room. I'd be happy to trade light arms on some reasonable route, but even that's a waste of time compared to NPCs.

Already working on it, soon other systems will be involved.Edit byFailure... I now trade in different systems, but no one comes to tax me. -

*reads back*
I'm pretty sure I mentioned in my post that I make use of the smuggling routes...and so do the other IOC guys, and a few freelancers. I mean....we're smugglers after all.
-
in CF1.82 the cargo limit of the trains might have been higher but it could not be used as the stations did not sell that many goods in CF1.9 the trade volume doubled (depending on the goods)

Freelancer is an exception to the fictional world? Star Trek has a legacy from action figures to conventions to video games multiple movies and tv series based on different time lines, characters and content of an episode from the 60s to the 2010 movie
Granted Crossfire, let alone Freelancer won't attain that kind of fan base (although it'd be cool) that doesn't hide the fact that Freelancer, like most most science fiction is still fiction. Fiction is written, programmed, filmed so people dont have to play the boring reality game of Real Life. if i wanted to do that, i'd go be a law-abiding Citizen in Grand Theft Auto 4 following traffic laws and not beating up hookers for my money back

shame most havent played jumpgate trying to dock a fully laden freighter was a bitch ,flying backwards with full throttle on and hoping you had got it right ,that is inertia.loved it tho
-
Can't even get Jumpgate Evo....would be nice
-
full loaded large transport with niobium took 20 mins to accellerate (you better did aim well to the gate because course corrections were hardly possible)
-
lol, THAT's a simulator
