Ping and Lag

    I Live in South Africa. .. and the best ping I have ever had to the server is 252 .. then I play with people that have a ping of 52 and they complain about it ... aaarrgghhhhh


    Ships and NPC jumping around ( specially in IC) seems to be the reality of my life... unless there is something I am overlooking ... ( other than moving to another country )


    Any ideas to stop ships and NPCs from jumping 1/2 way across the screen in an single instant ?


    I have already set my graphics details lower, but that just seems to benefit my GPU and not the lag (lots of yellow and red)

    I have the following settigns for 3D .. ATI Radeon HD 4290


    Please indicate if they are good or not ...


    Anti-Aliasing - Use Application settigns
    anisotropic Filtering - Use application settings
    Catalist A.I. - Advanced
    Mipmap Detail Level - Performance
    Wait for Vertical Refresh - Always off
    Adaptive Anti-Aliasing - Not Enabled
    Triple Buffering - Not Enabled

    IC is always a bit lagy... especially light fighters.

    I can handle the yellow and ping in Sirius :) ... but it makes pvp close to impossible for me.. :P


    The moment I enter IC, the ping jumps from 250/300 to around 1100/1200



    With this ping, the NPC's don't even show on my screen, but I can see my shields/armour decreasing and then I get killed :cursing:


    My GPU sits at 45% - 65% irrespective of being in Sirius or IC


    It's like SP and MP are two different games altogether.

    Check Internet speed and ping with some of the server in Frankfurt, I do not know exactly where is CF server.

    And sometimes it is too lagy in IC for play and so do not waste your nerves just sw to Sirius. Usually, when over 30 players on the server IC for me too lagy.

    All I can say is that I've played here for awhile.....from west coast USA I average ping of 185,0,0........to be honest I think the " 0,0" is the important part. I do avoid the larger battles due to everyone jumping off my screen. Reduced graphics settings have no effect if you have a fairly modern pc.
    Don't listen to the guys crying about your "ping".....they would cry about something else if they couldn't blame you for that.
    Yes it sucks to give the other guys advantage due to ping......they think everything looks great from their viewpoint ....and probably wish us higher ping guys would just leave....I've been told many times over the years, but I don't think thats OP's intention in working so hard on the game.


    If you have a clean ( whatever ping,0,0) most times.....then it "is what it is" and you just have to play to what extent you can handle it


    BTW...I'm in the "PVP is almost impossible for me" situation as well......you're lucky you aren't trying to pvp Galacticfire.....but in general the very skilled pilots with great pings are just about impossible to beat, don't feel bad....


    My answer has always been to try and beat them anyways :cursing: ....sometimes even I win one...lol

    What really got under my skin was european guys complaining bitterly in game about a ping of 52 while i was sitting at +600 :D


    Marauder. I have also NEARLY gotten lucky at times against other pvp


    Playing the game as is is OK against NPC.. so Exploring and NPC killing is the main activities ...

    I was going to recommend maybe using a Windows TCP/IP stack manager program on your connection to see if that would help any Riebens...


    But after my experiences with it on Freelancer, I'd almost tell you you're better off dealing with your current setup...


    Perhaps it's worth a try though in your case, surely it couldn't be any worse haha! :D

    We have two lines connecting us to the rest of the world.

    I think guys in New Zeeland may have the same type of problem.

    Just a few moments ago I have got the red pings and very slow connection that I have never seen before... o_O
    All fights are going to impossible. And this is continues a hour already.
    What happend?

    Serverload was high, so everybody had yellow/red laggs.
    Server will crash soon for sure, and it will work smoothly again.

    How familiar the situation...
