  • Well, enough with the arguing already, it leads to nowhere. And thanks to those who offered some advices when I or somebody else falls into a crisis.

I am relaying a message now:

I am on a hunt for BMG carriers now , whoever is caught , he meets the consequences. Whoever tries to stop me , he also meets his consequences.

    Have fun and good luck

  • So, your message is: "The police will do their job." As they say in Starcraft, about damn time. Just like a trader (who will remain unnamed) said a few days ago, and this is almost a quote, the cops of several clans mostly ignore them. WTF, people? And there are cops online most of the time, AND YOU'RE ALL ALLIED.

There are ways of making money outside illegal trade, some of which are quite good and profitable. It can't be compared to early 1.8 or 1.7 with the prisoners run, but I guess that was the whole point. I can't say if it's balanced or not, but it was always harder to make money for a cop, than any other RP class. Since now it's harder to make money for everyone, I guess the cops feel it the hardest.

I won't say anything about the cargo limit and trains, smuggler licences or something - it's just none of my concern anymore. All ships have their uses - just adapt to the current situation.

  • Yeah, easy for you to say when you can make like 100mil in an hour (BMG) and we can't. And I have other issues regarding CF which is here Resolution Problem

And now that's my last post... whatever you post next, I won't reply. I am out of this arguing over here.

  • Yeah, easy for you to say when you can make like 100mil in an hour (BMG) and we can't. And I have other issues regarding CF which is here Resolution Problem

There is no argument, especially since I can't make 100 million in an hour, which is what I said in the post above.
I saw the resolution problem, and I can't help you there.

    |DP|Shock · |DP|Shockwave · |DP|Skyfall · |DP|Red.Dwarf

  • "I can't make 100 million in an hour"

Not true cos ppl can do that in BS/APC in Frankfurt.

But u can make 100 mil in taxing ppl trading your monopoly annyway 20 mil per trader as i have seen.

  • I really don't understand what all the complaining is about. While it is true that there are occasional "super-routes" yielding massive profits in short time, profits from "legitimate" goods are also at record highs, especially alien organisms, diamonds, gold, engine components, and others. I have not experienced any problems with collecting escape pods, even doing random NPC hunting, although I have witnessed NPC's also tractoring escape pods; this is a first for CF 1.82, as far as I know. The (temporary) loss of wreck looting does admittedly remove millions of credits from the game that would normally be available to players, but I have not had any particular difficulty building 6 characters from scratch, without any "donations" from clanmates or others. I agree with those who have noted that all of the major RP's have the means of getting cash from other players in the pursuit of their roles, even if not all players will pay in equal proportions.

One adjustment I would like to see OP make is to adjust the randomizer algorithm to make the highest-paying routes be indexed to distance, so that the $100 million/hour routes would be eliminated. As I recall, when CF 1.7 was about to be released with new BMG cargos, the stated intent was to make the "super-routes" long and hazardous, to justify the profits by overcoming the risks. Unfortunately (but predictably, from a storyline standpoint), the economies of Sirius & Altair have developed quite apart from each other, and there seems to be little if any linkage between them when it comes to rewarding supplies of scarce commodities. In my view, profits should be indexed to scarcity of trading, or the number of systems to be crossed. So if commodity has to cross 20 systems between the seller & buyer, it should reward such a risk. The reason players do not run such routes is that there are too many shorter routes with higher profit over time. I am quite happy to settle for $1000/unit profit if I only have to run it down a single trade lane, and also reduce my initial cargo investment.

One thing everyone here should remember: OP has been working on this problem for a very long time, and if it were an easy thing to build a "perfect" economy, we would already have it. In fact, even though it is HARD, we already have the richest economy in the FL universe, and people are still not happy. A few years ago, I spent some time on another popular server, where it took me WEEKS to make the progress on a single character that I can make here in 24 hours of server time. Be careful what you ask for, you might not like the way your complaints are answered!

  • HI All

I don't know if this is possible, or if it would be to time consuming for OP to do ?

But I would like to see the randomizer for Wrecks and NCP Gun drops turned off until it's fixed, as there's no point or fun going all the way to wrecks to find them empty or killing NCP's that don't drop anything at the moment.
Even if the price for the guns was dropped a bit it's still fun going on expeditions collecting them and a good way to make some credits. (IMHO)

  • Some days ago I went in and made around 5 mills. in about 35-40 mins. by just shooting Red Hessians in Omega 5 (cargo bay full of "liutenant" and "major" pods)

In my opinion, the last thing CF needs is more lucrative ways to make money ALONE, without any human contact.

The smuggler license thing could offer indispensable human interractions but then smugglers would have the chance of ruling the server and that would not be good...On the other hand, if the smuggler could not sell the BMG himself directly and only buy it...that would solve that problem. But how can that be accomplished...As I see it:

    a. either because game mechanics do not allow him to sell, just to buy (forcing him to make deals with other players, meeting in midspace for transfer=> tons of RP)

    b. There would be a need for "territorial" soverignity or jurisdiction, allowing police and lawful clans to shoot down smugglers on the spot. (and instead of fining & dropping cargo = two hours of freedom, fining & dropping cargo would have to be unlimited and if resistence is met then a KoS for one day could apply -> BUT in order to prevent any abuse this would have to be restricted to a designated territory (such as House Systems or a large area -ie. 1 or 2 sectors in each direction- around Bases that belong to lawful NPC Organizations - ie. BMM). Additionaly, the smuggler should be able to retreat to a "safe heaven" (which is not as small as a clan system but more as the borderworlds or wider areas like that) or buy the BMG but not risk to lose it by selling it himself.

    Requirements for this would be:

    - introducing the smuggler license, (optional: with the additional perk that a smuggler can't sell, only buy) and making BMG more lucrative to trade (so that profit could be split in two -> should be even more expensive to buy so that if you lose the cargo then you lose more and are forced to work together with someone else) OR

    - making BMG more lucrative (and more expensive to buy at the same time) BUT - make a jurisdiction system for cops (either clan-related, dinamic territories that would enter a bigger RP -ie. conquest- or just RP related with no additional clan interractions - the example I gave with the Lawfull NPC Systems and basses)

P.S I would also propose that cops do not smuggler at all. On the other hand, I would propose that cops should consider either taking along a fellow policeman flying a cargo ship (evidence ship) with them on patrols (or hiring a cargo ship) and tractor in any BMG a smuggler dropps and then sell it and split the profit (that would be fair because cops wouldn't smuggler anymore and would generate RP). I would also suggest that if one is caught smuggling and resists "arrest", then police should attack that character (not player) for the whole day -> that would work well with the policy of not letting people get rich so fast instead of trying to "get rich fast" too.

Voila, in view a humble vaudevillian veteran...cast vicariously as both victim and villain, by the vicissitudes of fate...

That is easy for PX to say this, as I mainly only see them in top global/money server stats!

Asking to reduce benefits once you guys are maxed is a good move though to avoid competition ;)

  • @ Faaby

No. This is not about this so don't try to make it like that.

If you had read more carefully you would have seen that I proposed a raise in BMG selling value. That would topple any economical status-quo.

In another argument to your accusation, PX is the biggest (or among the biggest anyway, didn't see the stats...) clan atm and the most active so the fact that PX have more money is sort of logical...What can I say, I am sorry that my mates are so active and have nothing better to do than to trade...we're at least trying to generate RP and you can see that on the forums but we can't do that alone. Hopefully we'll have more interractions like the one we had with SA in the future...that was a nice change of pace.

This post was meant to put some new ideas about generating RP and enrich the whole CF experience, please don't try to hijack it for accusations that prove yet another time that any attempt at RP is met with RL grudges and resent.

Moreover, it is not in PXs interest to avoid competition but to encounter it and have fun while RP-ing. We are all here because we want to have fun...that only happens when you can compete or interact with another human being...and it's not interesting if it is not challenging. I think that the dullness of these times at CF is a direct cinsequence of the lack of challanges.

Voila, in view a humble vaudevillian veteran...cast vicariously as both victim and villain, by the vicissitudes of fate...

  • was just teasing :)

Personally, this money stuff is way over my head lol

Can have a new maxed up fighter with 50M at most, and it does
not take that long to reach that... and that's all I need, except for
little pocket money for missiles (1 or 2 missions and done)

    Hi

    randomizer / Drop chance ?

Whats changed ? the Ancients used to drop a pair on guns for each ship killed, now you can kill 10 and get nothing apart from an expensive repair bill, an ass whopping and a short stay in Hospital in Omega 41 while your ships being repaired !

All the wrecks are empty. Something must have been changed ?

It used to be fun to get Alien tec now it's impossible and not worth the time and effort.

I really really really love this mod and it hurts me to say these things, and I really appreciate all OP's hard work, time, effort and expense running the server, but it's not really any fun anymore except for the Great events watching i.e. Picard evade 15 hunters in the smuggler hunt and PVP in the Arena. IMHO

I think this should be the number 1 priority to be fixed before working on 1.9 (that is unless it will be fixed in 1.9 )

All the Noobs ask where did you get those guns / missiles and how can we get them, and I have to say you need a time machine to go back a few months to when the NCP's and wrecks dropped stuff.

There was a time when I had lots of these guns and would give a noob a pair and tell them / sometimes take them (if I had time) to where they could get the guns for themselves. This is what happen to me when I was 1st taken to the Inner Core and i've been hooked on this MOD ever since.

  • suggestion to everyone who has a storage : why not try to make money out of the weapons you have, establish weapons smuggling rings (criminals) or weapons technology sharing (lawful) ? There is RP that can be made out of this problem in the meantime...

Let's try not to go over a million for each gun not to fraud the n00b players. They'll still be able to have for goal to obtain alien tech : instead of alien hunting to loot guns, it'll be trading, pod hunting to afford the rare weps sold by clans and freelancers....

  • That is easy for PX to say this, as I mainly only see them in top global/money server stats!

    I 110% agree with Faaby.

Coz clans like PX for example is as rich as Uncle Scrooge and other clans are broke and are feeding on the scraps to survive.
