early storyline money making

Hi I seem to be in a similar predicament:

I'm not quite sure exactly which mission I am playing right now in regular story mode, but I believe it is towards the end of the bretonia section of the missions. Since I am an outcast from liberty space at this point (after Trent and Juni must run away to Leeds with the artifact etc.) I cannot access the prison ships in the Texas area for obvious reasons. Additionally, the Custodian system as well as a couple more that I visited that branch off of the Custodian system are all hostile, presumably because ships are also hostile in Liberty. Therefore, it seems that I cannot land on the bases in those systems either to sell prisoners and what now. If, to get to level 10, I need to bring my 3.5 million dollar player value up to 6 million, how can I make enough money in this situation in a somewhat timely manner (trading with the clydesdale will probably take about 5.5 hours of my life, under the best circumstances). Are there any systems I can get to in order to make a large profit quickly?

There are prison stations in Bretonia as well, but I'm not sure where they are. Someone else may know, though. Anyone?

I buy VIPs on Manhattan for 600, sell them at Trenton Outpost (about as short a trade route as there is) for 1200, then buy water at Trenton for 24 and sell at Manhattan for 90. Repeat process, make decent money, buy bigger ship, make more money. Not difficult at all.

thats a good bit of advice, however I need to make 3.5 million before the next level and have access no freighters larger than the clydesdale. I do not believe that it is possible to land on the BPA Newgate in manchester so is there another way that I can make this amount of money relatively quickly, or do I need to spend many hours on relatively small trade runs

So in the next version if the money levels before you get jump gate access where similar to the original I'm thinking about 25k or so for the level and then they went up as pod selling pays well it would allow people to not be stuck with a 400k grind inside New York. This also would allow people to play to story line with fewer work arounds.

The balance is pretty good as it is now.

As Nothingtown14 pointed out, you can earn credits quickly with a few simple trades without leaving New York. It is a bit repetitive, but it is easy enough.

I like the Rhino early in the SP campaign. It has more gun mounts than most fighters and has enough cargo space to help you to earn credits quickly.

As freighters go, the Rhino is maneuverable enough. When you become good at sliding, you will see that maneuverability is less important, because you will make most of your turns while sliding.

Well, you could play it in Vanilla. Until 1.9 comes out, there's no real advantage to playing SP in CF. I mostly play CF for MP anyway, you just need to play SP so you know what's going on.
