Yes it was explained on the CF 1.82 release , on the first page... I made a fast-way tutorial while downloading the mod
Display MoreCounting on how hurried are you, my way was pretty simple and the fastest:
While downloading the mod(now finished):
PS: Copia = Copy, the original installatioin was copyed many times
All mods work using only 1 FLMM, even I have 2 for unimportant reasons.
PS2: You can left click and view it in full size, or downlaod it to zoom it and see better it's high res.
After clearing the way for opening the mod...
[You can manually delete the old CF folder which isn't used anymore (as you renamed it, remember that step). ]
Double Click the Crossfire182.exe
Select the path of your FLMM 1.3
let it unpack
Double click on the mod's name on FLMM (as FLMM should open alone if you selected the right path)
DO NOT MOVE YOUR MOSUE NEITHER CLICK OR DO ANYTHING, if you want to see how the Green bar goes to the END !.
Youre game is ready to roll.
Enjoy !
---Works for EVERY Mod !
The FL folder which you changed it's name, is still working, so you don't have to delete it, even you don't need it, because Crossffire 1.82 DO have SinglePlayer option !
Once on the main launcher, click on "LAUNCH CF Singleplayer" and you will have this:
And if you click on the Multiplayer option, you only have the MP button !
Just keep in mind to rename the last FL folder you used with the last mod you activated with the FLMM, whichever mod it was.
EDIT: PLEASE NOTE hat in the lower corner of that screenshot, you see Avast closed ! (just in-case)
-Michael
Well, you mainly have to rename your old freelancer folder and restore empty backups, and ready for normal installation Unpack-open FLM-choose options- activate-ENJOY !
PS: If oyur first installation worked well, this one will go well... if you had some PC or connection issues which made the first one get wrong, hope you have more luck with this one
And sry for any grammatical mistakes on that manual, I was in a rush
IT WORKS ! IT WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!! Michael you are a genius !
Sorry michael, i've no see.
I posted it about 7 minutes later, but edited it a bit and it went to 12
Anyways thx for makign this thread... so people can see it.
(As you see noone else asked about it)
Instead of renaming the folder and restoring empty backups you can also simply use "Options -> Choose a different Freelancer directory" in the FLMM and apply the mod afterwards. I have to correct this. Doing it that way generally leads to an error message from FLMM.
Only be sure that your selected directory contains an unmodded vanilla FL.
And don't be scared: even if the FLMM is "not responding" and the green bar seems to be frozen, just wait another 10 minutes. In my case it did work even when i was doing something else with my computer... so using your mouse is allowed
Let me get this straight...Micheal
1-Rename your old FL folder at Microsoft Games\Freelancer\
2-You need a fresh copy of vanilla Freelancer installed
3-Delete or rename old CF folder in FLMM mods folder
4-open FLMM under Options choose to restore backups...showing 0 files 0 directories restored
5-Double click CF 1.82 exe, unpack in FLMM\mods folder
6-open FLMM or it should open itself then finally activate CF 1.82
QUESTIONS
What do I do if I don't have a fresh copy of Freelancer available?
Is there other ways to install CF 1.82?
Can I still use my old saved games from CF 1.81?
I and I'm sure others have many questions regarding installation, and we do appreciate your help Micheal.
ANSWERS:
1) install it from your CD. (if you don't have it anymore, you may find something in the deep dungeons of the internet...)
2) No. (as far as i know, for example simply copying the mod files into the folder won't work)
3) Yes.

Uninstall "old" 1.81 mod (CTRL+R in mod manager, then uninstall Freelancer, then CF mod, and at the end uninstall ur FLMM) and delete all Freelancer and CF relative data-use search option, run some software like CCleaner is, restart ur PC, "kill ur AV and download CF 1.82, then follow the installation instruction from tutorial which Michael wrote above, and save ur time that way!

Wrong.
The "Choose a different FL Directory" option ONNLY works when you have NO mod activated.
that way is simple, activating 1.82 from 0 mods installed is easy, new and fresh of everything.
But if you already had cf 1.81 or some other mod activated with that FLMM, you have to get ridd of the connection btw FLMM and the Mod first, as if you try that option it will tell "Please deactivate all mods before changing directories"... and unless you want to compleetly destroy and make unusable your last installation, simply renaming it

No, Delete or rename old CF INSTALLATION in the MICROSOFT GAMES folder, where your game is Installed, not the mod files inside FLMM, but the one OUTside
Please look at the screenshot again, as you see the FL folder is somehere at program files/Microsoft Games, where all other installations are, nothing to see with the mod files you unpack.
I use the caps only to show it clear, or remark it, so there are no confusions

Yes, you are right.
Even so, in my case (and i don't know why) the FLMM didn't complain.
But i'm interested how Bond is going to install 1.82 otherwise.
And i'm flying around in 1.82 SP with my Savegames from CF 1.7.
So i take his statement as mocking...
P.S.: Bond's advice to Uninstall CF 1.81 in the FLMM and afterwards activate 1.82 in the same game folder is most probably not going to work. I once compared a fresh installation with a modded and then unmodded one - they are different. You can try it nonetheless, it's always worth to go new ways, but be prepared for a flop.
I didn't noticed that part of Bond's post....
well, yep, that's a big part of useless stuff to do, you don't rlly have to restart PC, use CCleaner or uninstall everything by parts, you have a CF Uninstaller there which deletes all CF and FL files !
wouldnt it just be easier to completely re-install CF instead of going through all those hoops ????¿¿¿
and dont forget to save account id

If you ask yourself how you can have serveral mods at once without doing all the procedures from installing Freelancer and activating the appropriate mod again and again, i have a following advice:
1. Do a regular Freelancer installation. The game is normally installed somewhere under "C:\Programms\Microsoft Games\Freelancer".
2. Once the installation is finished. Make a copy of the Freelancer folder to another location (e. g. C:\. You can simply copy the entire Freelancer folder by selecting it, press CTRL + C, and paste it to where ever you want with CTRL + V
3. Now that you have a copy - you just need the mods you want to have.
4. Most mods needs to be activated by the Freelancer Mod Manager tool. But there is one tiny disadvantage by this tool. You mainly can activate only one mod at once. Nevertheless the following steps explain how you can avoid deactivating other mods.
5. The mod that is activated is stored in the registry. So if you want to delete the information which mod is activated open the command shell (Start -> Run) type in "regedit".
6. In the registry search for the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Freelancer Mod Manager
7. There is an entry called "mods\<Name of the mod you have activated>"
8. Select this entry and delete it. Now if you restart the FLMM no mod should be active.
9. If you want to activate another mod, first rename your current Freelancer folder. Exampel: Freelancer___CF181
10. After this is done, take your copy (from point 2) and copy it again in this folder where now Freelancer___CF181 is located.
11. Now you should have a Freelancer___CF181 folder and a Freelancer folder
12. Go back to FLMM and now activate the mod you wish to play
Repeat this procedure for every other mod you want to play. I personally meanwhile have 4 different Freelancer folders with activated mods. If i want to play one of them, i rename the folder back to Freelancer (before renaming the current one). All i have to do now is to dopple click on the Linkage on my desktop to the Freelancer.exe.
So you only have to activate each mod once and you can play them all by just renaming the appropriate folders. Its faster and easier.
This whole procedure has taken me half an hour (where 95% are downloading time
ok well nobody has really answered my question
CAN I JUST COMPLETELY UN-INSTALL EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH FREELANCER AND RE-INSTALL EVERYTHING? i mean remove literally EVERYTHING...!!! because i do not have time to do all that extra stuff considering i have 2 children to take care of and im sick so i dont really have the patience for all that right now
you can - save your multiplayer id before!
@ Bond:
Hey, it's free-lancer, so ofc i feel free to ask^^
So the "other way to install CF" you meant to be possible is what you've written about this whole uninstallment stuff (even if i'm not really convinced that it'll work, but i'm also not going to risk my working 1.82 for recti- or falsifying ^^) and then install CF just like all of us with the FLMM?
To your answer relating to the save game question - i'm honest: because i was never able to get 1.8(1) working on my PC i just deduced from my experience with 1.7 and 1.82 that the old savegames will work. IMHO it would be a little bit strange if a "bug fixing release" is working with thesave games from older versions but not with the ones from 1.81. But if you have other experiences, so i wouldn't neglect this possibility.
So can you confirm this?

TYVM Huor.. i have my ID written down and saved in account manager on a flash drive
