Here's a couple of general observations regarding the new ruleset and other things.
I hope it will be seen and taken as what it is: The observations of a concerned member of this community. Nothing more, but nothing less either.
Thanks in advance.
Suicide:
As of now, any suicide to get an advantage over other players by the fact that a char respawns where it last docked is forbidden, be it by hitting a planet, the use of npc or mines/radiation.
Fine with me. But it shouldn't only hold true in SoS, it should also be followed by cops/mercs on the hunt. Still, no real biggie (for me).
But i see big troubles in enforcing that rule. If SP decide to enforce the rule they will either be permanently trying to figure out whether a player is killed by npc on purpose or because he was just too weak/unlucky/idling/whatever.
Or they safe themselves the time and fine everybody who's killed by an npc and pretty soon will be with lots of time coz they're all alone on the server.
Conclusion: This is a rule that is impossible to enforce. And rules that cannot be enforced are by nature unnecessary or even harmful rules.
Imho this should work like the batts/bots-thing (if at all): you just don't do it, coz everybody frowns upon it and doing it is a disgrace.
Appealing decisions:
It says that if a player (non-clan member) wants to appeal regarding a penalty he/she should contact an SP. Well, this might be difficult since there aren't too many SP around (see below)
Why not just provide them with an email in the rules?
No use of batts/bots:
Personally i couldn't care less if it is allowed or not. But again i think it is an unnecessary rule. 99,9 % percent of all players learn not to use batts/bots very quickly.
However, almost every new player does it, because it's a habit. Personally i think the way it is now is the nicer (and just as effective) way, especially if "old players" make an effort to tell the newbies in a nice manner
If it is a rule, it must be enforced, be it by telling the player in question or - after the second or third time, maybe - by penalty. Again, just more work for the SPs.
SP:
# SWAT_OP-R8R (Admin): never seen online since i started playing CF
# BG_Wavey[ServerPolice] - BG: gone
# Canoso[ServerPolice] - LP: not seen in the last couple of months
# Gunny[ServerPolice] - SFP: more or less regularly online (probably i just don't see him too often because of diff time zones)
# Haegar[ServerPolice] - DC: seen once in the last couple of months
# Heaven[ServerPolice] - IOC: not seen since months
# Huor[ServerPolice] - TRF: regularly online
# Kermit[ServerPolice] - PX: regularly online
# Myric[ServerPolice] - SMG: more or less regularly online (probably i just don't see him too often because of diff time zones)
# Phoenix[ServerPolice] - DP: seen like once in the last 6 months
# RyderHook[ServerPolice] - Fallen: regularly online
So basically it's three guys who deal with most probs because they are online when it's evening in Europe and most people are playing. Not too much, imho. Especially not when you expect many new players with 1.8
Now, what i would really like is that only people post in this thread who actually want to express concerns. I would have sent this by pm, but other people share the same thoughts as i do and didn't know where to post, so i went public in order for them to express their concerns too.
However, i don't think we should start discussing the rules, that's the job of SP/Leaders/OP.
