Well, Sovetskava exists for a long time , i dont see why especially now the time has come to use it.
Besides, G didn't declare it open to events and judging by his comments during most events especially those held by certain folks, change in that is very much improbable.

Anyways, why smuggle runs didnt go to altair before:
- first of, the players need to kill each other, and sometimes it just happens that DKs dockrape u, so all would need to wait for the guy that got killed to fly 200k back where he came from. When the run should start in sirius, the chances are pretty high half the participants will crash due to sol bug on their way.
also im trying to keep the smuggle run as intense as possible, means small systems, some easy ways etc.
In Altair its quite the opposite, when u r in cruise u can tab out of the game for 5min till u reach the first trade lane, jump, and wait another 5 min. This is hardly fun, and for the hunters almost impossible.

plus, CD's will have to be delivered for fighting in altair, because with everyone in cruise for so long theres no way to stop anyone to tax them unless you wait at the end of each warp gate. With sirius is much better because of the trade lanes can be distrupted.

Well, the smuggler Run with a start in Sirius and end in Sirius while using SOV for it is quite hard to time because for a round trip NY NY you still need min. 1 hour and then u are very hasty were you would spend the most time flying alone in Sol and Sov. and hopefully be the first hunter docked on the Carrier.
But nothing should speak against a try imO - it could be fun waiting in lower unknown OG and OA for the Smugglers coming out of the JH.

Sorry but there's already enough people which prefer to camp instead of "hunt" and personally i dont see fun or doing a good job being a "hunter". I know, clever hunters wait for their pray, but then we can do arena to colosseum run or similar. Saves time and serves the purpose as much.
I don't have a problem with a try , but then keep in mind u r wasting at least 1 hour for waiting at 1 place, the only exit...

I didn´t bought any Shields and Thrusters since the Systems was rented - and i have them on my ships. Passing Custodian wasn´t a problem as a Freelancer neither was Alaska or will be Nephele.

Kerm, Sovets blocks off altair completely, no way around it = no altair for anyone, except a handful of systems with no docks.

Blocking routes like you say to X from NY was not an issue because of their still being other routes there, it wasnt totally cut off.

If OP agrees Sovet rental, then its the same as a clan renting X3043. I also heard OP saying some admin clan would be in Sol at one point. This further still will block off Altair.

I guess clan system invasions will now be common place.

well.. since sov is rented now, im not going down there anymore, im afraid.
and unfortunaly is there no way to go to Tomsk anymore, vorkuta either, neither to yakutsk. (unless i can dock backwards on the 1-way-JH in Omega 41 *lol*)

but so far sirius is large enough, and does have less DK, then the systems in altair have. and there are more players in sirius, then in altair.

but anyway. i wish Rackateer (Gunny, or whatever his names will be in the future) good luck with defending the system.

and for any new chars, does it just mean, no ships, from down there, unless you got permission, and no guns without permission either. too bad.

so i can just hope, that OP will keep the chars, in 1.8, not that everyone has to make all chars new.

besides. it could become funny, seeing all the rented systems, being defended by starfliers. not to mention the fact, that they will have to reach their systems alive, before they can defend them..

Either that or the Shrouds just going to have to be the ship of choice again since Tarsus is no longer being rented (Yet), and the Lagg is off limits for most people now.

Since blocking systems off doesnt seem to be an issue anymore, then someone could rent Dublin. That way Gunnys clan couldnt recruit anyone and get to their home system without invading someone. Also Dublin is a very nice system
