to get on in crossfire I'm told to trade. Why then is there such a poor choice of freighters?

'soultrain 60,000,000 $ poor shield cargo 5000
freighter I've not used yet is in between.
is there a coalition freighter Im unaware of. I would expect this to be an order of magnitude above the others, they have better weapons and ships it appears.
perhaps a few intermediates in the next mod upgrade?

There is also the APC Freighter which I use, it has 450 cargo and massive amounts of weapon slots up to class 10. You can get it from Nephele at Hessian Base there, for about 10 million credits. I like it, but I also see where your going with this conversation and i agree with you, freighters are either black or white, a little cargo hold or a HUGE cargo hold. There really isn't anything in the middle, maybe with 1.8 there will be an introduction of new freighters.

the situation with freigthers is on purpose in order to balance the gameplay
it would be stupid to allow uber freighters which can avoid RP and have tons of cargospace that can make a new player a billionair in a few hours -

IMO, the choices are ample, and I have never had an easier time making $$ on a FL server than CF. My freeighter fleet includes 2 APC's, one Armored Transport (430 cargo) and a Large Transport (700 cargo, plus BS turrets & good armor). I prefer these ships to trains, as they are more manoeverable, dock universally, and you can actually do missions in them!

only choice it seems between 450 and 999 cargo is the large transport. Having driven it many times, i can tell you, you will go out of business in it. due to the cost of the turrets to repair. on a 30 mil profit BMG run you may loose an equal amount in repairs for just travelling through a system with just moderate hull eating radioactivity.
that said, it does make an awesome ambush ship for pirates to attack trains with.
