Who plays single player?

  • Then i'll have to wait for cf1.8.


    The tip to trade and get faster ships is a good one ^^.
    But I am just at the beginning. That means i have the third hunter which is really good for now. I have 3 Lvl3 and two Lvl4 weapons and a turret. My enimies are meant to be 'Dangerclass 1' or '2'.


    I think you know the problem is that i need 5-8min for a lvl 2 pirate. Waiting for the Battleships doh [8]

  • with CF1.8 low lvl NPCs in liberty will use less bots/bats but their fighting abilities and shield regens (normal shield regeneration) will be equal to real players


    It might be possible that I will include wingmen into CF1.8 which can help with missions... dunno yet

    and i did all misions and explorations
    also i got the DKas in hyperspace with singleplayer


    everything is fine and playable
    :)


    just containers for train are not buyable because of the maximum level in SP

  • I didn't realize one could go that far. Hehehe, I remember following the campaign and getting stuck on one of the missions late in the game. People used to all tell me that OpenSP didn't work for CF for some reason, but X-Ray proves otherwise I suppose. Will need to give it a try sometime. :D

  • Would be better if normal pirates and equal would not have or be able to use nanobots and shield reg. Make another option: "Non-Story Enemies can use repairs Yes [] No [X]".


    Regenerationrate like Players is a good thing.

  • Now i just lost against a named target ('arrest ..') because his regenerationrate was - - full. 2 seconds to full shield.


    When his shield gets down my weapon energy is empty and his shield 'respawns' as full. He is supported by ~6 pirates.
    No fun left if you cannot even beat the side-money-missions.


    It is necessary that the regeneration and nano/shieldrepair usage is deactivated for enemies in SP!

  • The problem with recharge and repair for NPCs is a awkward compromise. While it helps the NPCs survive longer and simulate a more intelligent pilot, it also makes certain ships very difficult to kill. That had been my own problem in the singleplayer campaign - that my Dragon had not the oomph in its guns to smack down some of the Liberty fighter swarms on the satelite destruction mission. All the same, this is more realistic combat in my opinion. It also encourages the player to get more credits and obtain better ships. Say, for instance, that mission I kept losing would have been more manageable if I were to get an Eagle and stronger guns first. Technically it is possible to achieve this by trading or selling ejected pilots' pods at prisons between storyline missions or in OpenSP. By that point victory becomes more likely in Sirius at least. For those who like it hard, just enjoy the challenge and don't work as hard on the credits. :)

  • Me too Guys I SP most games
    Prob is I also have all the other decent mods still here on my drive and every so often I will throw one of them on the screen and have a few hours fun and ' ahem' occasionally go for god mode with a fav ship with no limit missiles/torps , full on mega weps and ship boosted to aprox half light speed , blip the booster and I'm way across a system wheeeeeeeeeeeeee catch me if you can [94][92]
    8)

    All those moments will be lost in time , like tears in rain . Time to die.

    LOL i definitely know that personally but with some persistence i got the RAGNAROCK witch is usually impossible cuz the base regenerates its shield in a split second and surrounded by a nomad fleet lol nothing is unbeatable.

    i just hope that the old saves work in 1.8

    and in the campaign, id recommend you be careful of corsirs
    iv been in a battle with on for more than 20 minutes!

  • I understand that you Swat wants to make the Universe more realistic by making good enemies.


    My suggestion:


    Make a file in which players can edit the strength of pirates for Singleplayer. Best would be an option "Freelancer normal Strength - FnS".


    As written before it is not only that they use repair/recharge kids. They also respawn their shield too fast and full!
    My (players) shield does not respawn full. But even if it would, it would still take too much time to kill one of them.


    I beat the Story-enemies just as in unmodded Freelancer, but i die against one no-name sidemission pirate! And the missions are Dangerclass 2 or 3! 2 takes 10 minutes for two enemies and 3 means i die or fire and fire and they do not die.

  • Well i simply edited the st_equip in the data/equipment folder and changed the regeneration rate on the npc's ship to 0 and I also went into the pilots_population in the data/missions folder and changed all the shield repair and hull repair lines to 0, i found that the ships were just as they were, no regen or use of bats and bots, i went through the whole game and am still playing, its so much better.

    the first battle completely stunned me to the point i had a mind laps :D
    its a great training aid i think ;)


    hay OP um just asking, will CF have the battledust effect like in Flak88? cuz it makes battles more dynamic :)

  • Hi there, I don`t know if this has been asked before but I will anyway:


    Speaking about the Single P, could it be possible to make available the single player missions for a party of players? It would certainly bind together the two sections of the game.


    And there is this matter about the possibility to dock capital ships owned by players... But the first one is more important.

  • i like the wingmen idea;) cuz you have a buddy by your side that guards your rear, would be useful
    in the domkavosh area, but it can make the game to easy as some AI's can be the dominant
    player and kick some serious ass, LOL it can be very entertaining to watch though ;)
    my idea of an AI wingmen, is in some systems where its really hard that some wingmen will join
    you as an escort and help you in that system, you get the idea:P if this was incorporated into a
    mod,i think it would be quite fun, not to hard, not to easy
