The launcher can be quite frustrating when it gets stubborn like that. If you installed it correctly though perhaps giving it some time and trying later might help. I don't know... enjoy the time off though. Think of it as a unplanned vacation.

Well I also did this recently and to my surprise - it did not work first time.

The second time it did. The diff was:

1. Second time I did not apply the patch
2. During the huge load of 5 Billion files where you go away and make tea - the first time for some reason it stopped and restarted - the second time it went through all the way without probs

At least I killed you a couple of times last night - maybe that caused the probs?

did you remember to delete the freelancer screenshot folder?
that was a problem for me once.

no because when i did a complete uninstall the screenshot folder was not deleted.
so maybe gunny has the same issue.

Last weekend when i installed CF i had E4 error the first time, i did apply the patch, then it tooks to the updater like 3 times to complete the update (the hole file download i mean). I stopped at some point and then i have to lauch the updater again, this like 3 times...but at the end everything worked. And i forgot to erase the FL folder

I have a question, how do you know when it's time to do a reinstall? I don't get it, why would you re-install?

it's kinda normal. like restarting/shutting down ur pc - you just HAVE to do it from time to time. you can't leave ur pc in sleep mode for, for example, two years...

Yeah but why? I've never re-installed it..... hasn't caused me any problems or glitches or slowdown.

if i get crashes to my desktops or undifined Pictures of BMG from CF i do a clean reinstall and all is going well again after it for about some month.

But this could even be a hint from a witch kitchen

I had the same probs on my Notebook, i copied the freelancer.exe from another installation to the notebook and i had the 1.56 launcher which was starting the 500 Billion files update procedure. After it all was k.

Funny enough I notice for the first time a few days ago in Soviets - if you press the info icon at top right after you select one of the Coalition ships - u get this interesting facts about the pilots name and some other things.

I wondered if it would be possible to randomise some things in there (or add some random things) to give npc pilots some background history and story.

ie Rookie pilot on first mission wants to kill some DK

Experienced General wants to secure the system come from planet X with 3 kids

And whether that could be applied to other npcs in Sirius?

just a suggestion - maybe the update (the 500 billion files and the new launcher) should be included in the setup? so you don't have to download 500 billion files right after you've installed "the latest version"
