I would play the entire campaign through on Vanilla. Then install CF and get ready for a much bigger challenge. Your tactics will have to be very different, so in many ways, it's like playing a completely new game. Although the vanilla game is flawed, it is still a great game. You said you never finished the campaign; so I highly recommend doing so in vanilla first. Have fun!

LOL...this is like the 10th thread complaining about this. I recommend you look through some of the old threads to see some hints; but I can tell you, any class ship is available to you from the start of the game. You just have to find them and it is not as hard as you think.

Neural Net Log issue - understood and not a big deal at all. I'm glad you guys took the time to even put anything in there. There was some funny stuff in the original campaign in there, like when Trent makes fun of Quintaine for pronouncing methane, meeeethane.

Orillion cutscene crash - understandable and not a big deal either. Restarting fixed that easily.

Osiris docking crash - Instead of dock, maybe say fly to the Osiris. After that first crash, I now assume that docking is handled automatically, and if it doesn't, only then will I try to dock. But on my first try, obviously I had no idea it would auto-dock as that never happens in the regular SP.

Sol train issue - the workaround is fine for me

Also I will repeat my offer to assist with English grammar/spelling in the extended quest. Obviously that is not a big deal, but as a native English speaker, it makes me cringe sometimes. I'll charge you as much for my assistance as you charged me for the mod.
Thanks for responding to all of the points I raised.

Copying this from a previous post I made:

If you open the Neural Net Log after doing some of the extended missions, some of your personal log entries are triplicated (the same entry repeated three times). Obviously not a big deal but something to look into at a later date, perhaps.

I have crashed three times since starting the extended missions. First, about 5 seconds into the cutscene on New Berlin where you first talk to Orillion, it crashed to desktop. Restarting the game and trying again fixed the problem. Second, when told to dock at the Osiris by King, I attemtpted to dock myself instead of flying past the Osiris and it crashed to desktop again. Restarted and just attempted to fly past the Osiris and it docked for me. Lastly, I got the runtime error that other people got on the Nomad Strike Carrier orbiting Saturn. Following the advice of others in this thread, I loaded the last mission-specific savegame and got past it without a problem.

Aside from the last one, I didn't get any useful error messages, and it hasn't happened since. If you tell me what to look for (Freelancer error logs, event viewer, etc.) I can check if it happens again.

Also, when escorting the trains to Sol, they don't enter cruise speed when I enter formation with them. i found that if I then disengage formation, start my cruise engine, then reenter formation, then they will activate their cruise engines.

I didn't make a ticket for this as you said mention it now, which I assume meant in reply to this post. I'll make tickets for things I see in the future. Thanks for your continued efforts.

Do you want the autosave after you jump back into NY from Alaska, or would the start of the mission after the rescue the president one suffice? I'll send you that one for now. If you want the autosave, I would have to load from the Flee from Prison save, go thru the jumpgate, and then send you the autosave.

EDIT: Just sent you both Mission 12 and the Autosave after jumping from Alaska to NY. Good Luck.

Get a Rhino and do some local trading in the NY system. And yes, once Texas is opened up, sell those prisoner pods at LPI Huntsville and then you are on easy street. DO NOT sell them for 1 credit anywhere else; they are worth a minimum of 30,000 credits so hang on to them until you can get to Texas, even though they are taking up a cargo slot each. There is no better money-making opportunity than selling lifepods to prisons in Crossfire until Crossfire storyline missions start.

I am not certain, but you may also be able to jump to Texas through a jump hole before the gates are unlocked.

EDIT: Sigh...the savegame editor? Really? What would Vince Lombardi say?

Hi everyone i am having a small problem

I get message that MISNET.OCX is missing i have gone to the topic about this but the file is not there to download can anyone help me thanks

    Check this thread:

    index.php?page=Thread&threadID=22271

    It's MSINET.OCX, not MISNET, btw.

Can you provide more information, most importantly what version of the OS you are running and if it is 32 or 64 bit. Also, you can just do a search for MSINET.OCX and find all of the related threads. This is an ancient problem with several possible solutions. You may just have to try them all. Good Luck!

A fantastic Russian game with hilariously bad English translations. This game shares a lot in common with Freelancer actually. It is single player only and turn based, but don't let that turn you off. It has space battles, trading, arcade-style hyperspace battles, Starcraft-style RTS battles, FedEx missions, and my favorite, text quests. I have played this game as much as I have played Freelancer, and I have always wished that there was a hybrid of these two games, because the great aspects of one game complement the faults of the other game. It has a learning curve but it is a lot of fun. Make sure you get the Reboot version if you buy it.

I came across this Finnish movie recently and thought it was very funny. It's in Finnish with English subtitles. Great if you are a fan of both Star Trek and Babylon 5 (the greatest sci-fi show of all time, IMO).

The first 6 parts of varying length and quality are here and are all Star Trek spoofs:

    Star Wreck: Legacy
    - YouTube

The first few are animated and use video game rendering from Star Control, but the last few are live action and they get much better.

In the Pirkinning is a feature length movie that took 7 years to make and is now the most popular Finnish movie of all time (an amazing feat for an amateur film). You can buy it at http://www.starwreck.com/ or watch a lower quality version here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5504660695876228465

The special effects are actually quite amazing. I would say it is worth buying the full quality version just for that, but the story and dialogue is also pretty good as well. It continues the story from Part 5, but you can get by without watching any of the older installments if you are not interested.

Your accents during the initial Orillion cutscene were very difficult to understand for me. You typed out the entire conversation after the cutscene was over, which was great, but I think subtitles would have been nice as well. I probably would have had an easier time understanding it if the volume of the dialogue was turned up against the volume of the music in that scene, as I found myself straining to hear you guys at some points. I'm from New York so I hear people with foreign accents all the time, but you guys have really thick accents, and as I just said, it was hard to hear some of the dialogue at all at times, which hurt the immersion aspects of playing a game like this. Still it was a great effort and much appreciated. Just trying to give you some constructive criticism on that front.

All in all, the extended campaign has been great so far. Thank you so much for your tremendous effort. It is so well done I am almost thinking about trying MP which I always hated in Freelancer. We shall see.

EDIT: One other issue is that there are dozens of grammatical errors in the extended campaign. If you don't care, that's fine. If you do care, I can help.

    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    Intel i7-920
    Nvidia GeForce GTX285
    Realtek onboard sound card
game at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed out and adv. shaders at default setting

When I landed on New Berlin for the first CF story mission, I went to the bar. I started walking towards Orillion and King and then the game crashed to the desktop. I relaunched, tried again with no changes, and the whole cutscene played without a problem. I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate with a Geforce GTX 285 and all settings maxed out at 1920x1200. I consider this minor as restarting solved the issue.

For the hell of it I decided to start all over again and amass tons of money along the way before I even left Liberty. I currently have over 2 million credits from selling life pods, and I was wondering if it was necessary to buy a new ship in Bretonia to get the Bounty Hunters off your back. I am thinking about saving up for the Shade which is 4 million credits, before I make Liberty angry at me and have to leave. Does this seem like a good strategy?

And a question about missiles. I can't hit a damn thing with CF missiles like I could in vanilla. And suggestions on what I am doing wrong to get at the NPCs?

I already ran into a few places where I got stuck in CF1.9 because the cruise speed is 450. I've dealt with this in other mods and it is easy to deal with once you know how to avoid it. And, there is no way to fix it, so there is no complaints from me. As for the voice actors, I personally wouldn't care if the characters suddenly had German accents for the extended missions. I am not sure how you guys handled it, but nobody is expecting you to replicate professional voice actors with American accents.

Long time no see everyone; I heard about 1.9, got very excited, soiled some clothing, and then installed it. I don't play multiplayer in this game; I am just not into it at all. So, I am always stuck playing the single player campaign over and over again with different mods to spice it up. I've played so many mods where the game is made to be ridiculously easy (your buddies wipe out the competition before you can fire a shot), way too hard (it takes 10 minutes to destroy a single rogue fighter on the first mission because they are constantly recharging shield/nano; not fun), unrealistic leaps of money required to level up...need I go on?

OP said he balanced the SP by hand and I believe it. So far the game feels just right in how it ramps up the difficulty, provides you with resources and moneymaking opportunities. The graphics look incredible; this is a whole new game. Seriously, the graphics are awesome. I'm not very far yet, but I look forward to the new missions you guys have created; the sheer number of missions that you added has me extremely excited.

Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to this flawed game that had so much potential. I am greatly impressed, and will float a donation your way once I finish the SP. CF 1.9 IS Freelancer now, as far as I am concerned. There is no equal.

    Keep up the fantastic work!
