Check out the spoiler below. This is in Vanilla Freelancer as well, so it is not really a Crossfire spoiler, but tagging it accordingly for those who want to search everywhere on their own.

    Good Luck!

"the James Morell or only James Morell - what are native speakers saying?"

If you say the wreck of James Morrell, you are implying that the person named James in the wreck, lol.

It should read "The wreck of the James Morrell."

Another bug I noticed was when I had a Swashbuckler freighter. When I tried to dock on some bases, it just kept floating around and never completed.

I am playing SP campaign and I was looting wrecks in many systems. At one point, I found a datadisk and I sold it for $895. Does this screw up the extended storyline for me? I was reading through threads here and saw there is one in the Dublin system wrecks, which I got a long time ago (I think that is the one I sold). It would be less than fun for me to go back to an old save to get the disk again and not sell it, as I had done a lot since then. Thoughts?

Although I am playing SP Campaign, I don't think NPCs are attacking the wrecks themselves in MP. A couple of times, I had found a wreck and there were Bounty Hunters all around me (Neutral to them at the time). I shot the wreck and tractored in what I could. A second later, I heard them tractoring in whatever was left over. The only other possibility I can think of is if there were a lot of skirmishes in that area. If an errant laser blast (or gigantic flak explosion) hit the wreck, and the loot spilled out, then the NPCs would definitely grab the loot. Do skirmishes occur near those "not commonly located wrecks?" If not, I doubt that NPCs are the culprit.

Search every base and battleship in Liberty that you can land on for ships to buy. You will find a couple that are way more overpowered than the usual Liberty ships, and that have no level restrictions. One is a freighter, the other is a light fighter. I used the freighter to get enough money through trading to buy the fighter. They key to Crossfire is information. Landing on bases gives you trade routes and lets you know what ships are available. Any base that doesn't sell ships I just land on and take off immediately, so it is stored in the neural net (when I am not actively trading). Once you are in a robust freighter or fighter, you will feel a lot safer in Liberty and beyond. For reference, I am playing the campaign and I have a VHF that carries 4 lvl 10 code weapons and my character is only lvl 13. NPCs recharging shields are inconsequential. Once you can kill the NPCs, tractor in their escape pods and sell them at prisons for a ton of money.

    Good luck!

Go to the site in the spoiler for help finding bases and wrecks. The ships sold on each base is not accurate, so you will still need to land on bases to find new ships. Favor battleships for that search; they sell good ships. Thanks you, Daywalker for the hard work on all those maps. They have come in handy for me.

Awesome! I have played over 500 games and I am platinum in all leagues, and there have been a few games where I was sure I was being maphacked. Glad they are working to make a better experience for people who actually play the game.

I saw this error popup a few times when launching from the Crossfire Updater screen. Usually, if I wait until it checks for patches, shows complete, and then I launch it, it is fine. If I rush and try to launch it right away, I sometimes get this error. The other thing you can try is to remove the mod, and then re-add it with the option to skip all intro movies.

Wait, hold on. Is this the video card you are running?

    http://active-hardware.com/eng…eviews/video/ragefury.htm

If so, It will probably not be able to run Crossfire which has graphical enhancements beyond vanilla Freelancer. I doubt that card could run Freelancer at all; at least not very well. It was released 11 years ago and Freelancer came out 4 years after. Please post a link to the exact video card you are using, if the above link is incorrect.

If that is the card, make sure you turn all graphics settings down to the lowest option, or off, when applicable. Even then, I doubt it would work and it would probably look awful, as well.

You should just click yes...it's a known error since Freelancer is such an old game. If you are running Windows 7, run Freelancer in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Try that and see what happens.

I am now saving up for a certain $4 million fighter ship sold on a certain battleship in a certain Liberty system before I do the mission from California Minor. I currently upped my freighter to this 250 cargo pirate ship that maneuvers like a cruise ship, so I am trading to get money till I have enuff dough to get that fighter, since the freighter is almost worthless in combat (not entirely, though...thanks turret view). I talked to Juni and declined, which I found is nice to stop the incessant waypoints from popping up.

For those having trouble finding wrecks/stations in different systems, or those like me who don't much enjoy the grind of searching every sector in each system, see the link below. I tried the reveal map option using IONCROSS (not so much to reveal the map but reveal trade routes so I wouldn't have to visit every friendly base in every system), but that doesn't work in this mod. Just as well, because it is more fun to explore on your own, and IONCROSS would ruin that enjoyment. However, if you need some help finding stuff (including new wrecks), check the link below.

You can try the fix in this thread:

    http://www.swat-portal.com/php…age=Thread&threadID=16245

I would, however, recommend just doing another clean install of Freelancer and FLMM

Follow the below instructions which I copied from another thread. I didn’t use CCleaner and I was fine, but if you want to be 100% sure, go ahead and use it:

    Removal of Crossfire 1.81/2:

    1. Go to your Control Panel(CP) and uninstall Freelancer and the Crossfire Mod.
    2. Go to your My Documents and delete the Freelancer Folder.
    3. Go to the folder which contained the Freelancer game and delete it, because it remains after the uninstalling from the CP.
    4. Go to your Freelancer Mod Manager, and you'll see 2 uninstall exe files. Use them both, use the first one and then the second one, as they are placed in the perfect order. Once this is done, the 2nd exe you've just used will delete the whole FLMM and its folder automatically.
    5. Use a Cleaner program, such as Advanced System Care(better in this case though..) or CCleaner.
    6. Remove your remaining iso files within the Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%/52%.

    Installation of Crossfire 1.82:

    1. Install Freelancer
    2. Restart your PC(The Setup wll request it when it finishes with the installation process).
    3. If you're running Windows Vista or 7, after the installation , right click on the FL Icon/Properties, compatibility and then choose " Run it Under Windows XP SP3". , you can also change your FL icon from there too.
    4. Install Freelancer Mod Manager 1.31(FLMM)
    5. Install Crossfire 1.82 ==> Both Freelancer Mod Manager and its mod(CF) must be in 1 same folder. (As the CF Mod installs within the FLMM program).
    6. Activate Crossfire 1.82 => In the process of your activation, you will notice that the windown will go to a " Not Responding " mode ... => ignore that and keep waiting until it activates it. It requires several minutes.
    7. Once that's finished, if you're planning to play in the Crossfire MP ( or even CF SP) , wait for the updates to download and then click CF SP/MP button to play.

Just make sure that when you are activating the mod, you select the correct options for OpenSP, which i believe is what you want. I just downloaded the mod last week and I have been thoroughly enjoying going through the campaign again in this environment.

I just got to lvl 3 (from the place you guys were stuck at) with some simple trading in the New York System. The key is to first visit every base and battleship in the system so that you can quickly determine the best trade routes, as you would have had to do in vanilla if you weren't using a mod. Then, get a damn rhino and start trading. I leveled up in less than 30 minutes. Make sure you visit Rochester Base (behind Manhattan and next to the Custodian jump gate), as they buy something from Manhattan for a large profit. I did a big circle to about 5 different bases, determining the best trading deal available, and ended up leveling up at Rochester in just one complete circle. Don't bother with those chintzy job board missions that pay $5000 when you can make 20 times that much in a quarter of the time in one trade with the Rhino. Also, I sold all of those pods for $1 to maximize cargo space. When I get jump gate access, then I will worry about selling them at one of the Texas prisons.

Acegard, what systems accessible from X-3043 had prisons? I went there when I was lvl 2 and visited Tarsus and Vega, but there were too many to check out now in my pathetic excuse for a spaceship.

I just installed Crossfire yesterday and, so far, it is my favorite mod yet. I only play SP campaign, so I have enjoyed several of the changes you have made so far already (first of all, not leveling up just from looting the cardamine-filled Flint wreck, which was just silly). I liked Discovery Freelancer and TNG, but this feels way more polished, especially with the graphical enhancements and optimizations for campaign SP. And, unlike previous mods, I look forward to checking out the news and embarking on those new quests once I finish the campaign. I remember when I was working in downtown Manhattan (the island, not the planet), and picked up this game 7 years ago from Best Buy, and have played through the campaign so many times with so many mods, several times a year. Even though Microsoft screwed over the developer, and we still don't have the source code, it still turned out to be a fun game with great potential. This mod shows that potential far more than any other I have played, so hats off to you.
