It is my extreme displeasure to inform the crossfire community that I will not be able to play Crossfire or any game due to a medical condition that I have been diagnosed with within the past few months. It is called Vasovagal Syncope syndrome, and simply put, it causes me to pass out or black out after the adrenaline rush from PvP is gone. The more in depth explanation is that it causes the blood vessels to dilate and the heart rate to drop, which causes a drop in blood flow to the brain, resulting in passing out, or fainting.

This happened earlier today when I was facing a few pie rats (I still have not received my Pie...I WANT MY PIE) in New London. The first time was after I fought Crysis (though admittedly not without the help of Rex) and engaged the Liberty Dreadnought (Patches....we don't need no stinking patches). I felt light headed, weak, and dizzy and I assumed that it was from something I had eaten. However I did not make the connection until after I faced a different pilot, whose name I cannot recall. I do remember they were flying a persephone, however and were in {LP}.

After that fight was over, I blacked out completely. I know this because my nostromo was on the floor and there was a dent in my forehead from where my head had impacted on the edge of the desk when I came to a couple of seconds later. I know that it was only a couple of seconds because when I came to, my death message was still on the screen.

To make a long story short (too late) I won't be playing CF for some time because I can't fight without experiencing negative physical side effects. And as anyone who knows me from when I first started playing this mod waaaaay back in 2006 will tell you, I live for the combat in this game. I would literally set up camp in Arena and stay there for months with a character dedicated to doing nothing but fighting in there.

But I digress. I won't be playing any games for awhile, and will instead focus on my photography. And now I have to go take care of some business. I'll check back shortly.

Well since the server is down, you could go exploring the systems and look for powerful and shiny new ships. :D I found a fairly decent ship earlier while doing this and I do believe it will be replacing my old love, the Saracen.

*gAsP* Say what??? That's right, I found an alternative to the Saracen (And it isn't found in Altair thankfully). I still have a few ships left to find, however, so I'm not going to settle on this new ship just yet.

But getting back to the point, open up SP, and just go exploring. Come back in an hour or 6 and the server should be back up and running (or at least we should be able to access it by then).

I've been away for quite some time taking care of other things and getting my life straightened out (to some extent) and have been beta testing what was a promising game called Black Prophecy for a while now. However that game is going to fall flat on its face due to the shoddy design of the core game mechanic (crafting...ugh) and the fact that it is a PvP oriented game and the only way to get the best equipment for PvP is by using said constructor. But I digress, I am beginning to ramble. I am glad to be back with my first multi player game, and it feels like home. Sadly enough, and I hate that this has happened, my dad (formerly known as (IOC)Lev_Arris) tossed my multiplayer code long ago and I don't know how to get it back. So I'll have to start over from scratch again, which I feel bad about because I basically wasted an untold sum of resources and equipment by losing that code.

But nevertheless, I am back. I also brought a few tricks along with me from Black Prophecy, though only a few of them will actually work in Crossfire (no ability to freely roll the ship in combat or flight). The best part, is that while I was away (and this is going to sound really corny) I made more friends along the way. Say what you will about my magicians act of disappearing and reappearing frequently, but some things are more important than a game. I won't get into what, because that seems a little bit personal to post here, but trust me when I say that my life has changed for the better.

Enough of the mushy talk. When can I start shooting people?

I followed your instructions and looked at the preferences for the archiving function, and it was set to the default "Save my messages until I log out" option. So the entire conversation isn't in the message archive, which I found earlier and it was empty. :(

I got the PM, but it doesn't show the files that were transferred, only the locations that you told me to put them. So I still don't know exactly which files go where. I could guess, but I'd rather not do that.

And how do you access the conversations on Yahoo Messenger if they are saved automatically?

Well my original plan after the Yahoo conversation was to save the entire conversation so that I would have your instructions handy should I need them later, but I forgot to save the conversation. I still have all of the files and everything, I just forgot where to put them and what to replace. So if you could remind me, that would be great.

One of my ideas was to have a fight sequence play out throughout the vid (which I would imagine to be about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes long) but I'm not sure how I'd accomplish this. It would have to be on the multiplayer server of course, but I don't know how I would be able to get rid of the console messages and messages from other players as well so they wouldn't interrupt/ruin the filming process.

I added you on Yahoo messenger, btw. And my PC is capable of recording at a constant 60fps with full size resolution and maximum quality settings. I'm going to give the widescreen another go so that my GPU has less real estate to render during the recording process, and the widescreen format will be better for showing the systems off (at least it will for the shots that I have planned). I did find a rectification for my GPU drivers not letting me use a 1280x720 resolution with the bars on top and bottom, so that's another plus.

You register Fraps with an account, want mine ? As Fraps really captures the entire screen and everything perfectly :D

And I also told about the offer to record everithing without the tabels menus and stuff you have on the screen when you play... with some edited files. If you need it.

Sure, I'll take the Fraps account. And yes, those files would be helpful. Now if I could only find a mod that makes your ship invisible...but I suppose I could just use the cockpit view and disable the cockpit instead.

I wanted it to be in HD, because nowadays it seems that people are more impressed with the 16:9 format than the standard 4:3 format. But now that I think about it, a 4:3 format would most likely be better for showing the bases and other stationary objects, as well as some of the fight sequences that I had thought up for the vid.

And the graphics card I'm using is an ATI Radeon HD 3850. But it's a moot point, because I don't have the resources to work on the vid anyways. Every screen capture program that I found through Google sucks (it either lags or doesn't capture the entire screen) and I haven't found a suitable program to put the final video clips together, though I suppose that Windows Movie Maker would work since I found a good freeware special FX program called Jahshaka, but I don't fully understand how to use it yet, and it crashes quite often. The only screen capture software that I've found to work without lagging while being able to capture the entire screen is Fraps, and I don't have the money to purchase it. I'm almost positive that my dad won't purchase the software for me for this project, so I'm SOL at this point.

Bad news, guys. I won't be able to make a movie for the server, because I can't get the game to disaply in widescreen. I've followed the tutorials I've found through Google, and the results have been mixed. I've only gotten the widescreen mode to completely work one time. My graphics card drivers are the problem, but reinstalling them and the card haven't helped. The resolution I was trying to record at was 1280x720, the starting point for HD resolutions. I don't think it helps that I play on a 4:3 format screen, but I thought that it would still work regardless.

Sorry to let ya down OP, looks like I'll have to sit this one out. :cursing:

It's always sad to see a clan lose a member, whatever the reason may be. I hope that you continue to play on the Crossfire server as a Freelancer, and I look forward to meeting you in space.
