Context:
I landed this char on Planet Issos on Arena system yesterday evening.
Today, after I successfully logged in with this char, I un-docked with the planet and the game crashed shortly. Since then, every time I try to log in with this character, the game crashes.
I am able to log in with any other character of mine
I managed to get the game to log on his stuff and this is what I have in the output file as soon as I double click Radical_Onion in the char list:

I believe that something that is equipped on my ship is causing the render errors.
Is there anything that can be done on server side, like stripping the ship of all the gear and put some defaults on it ?
My main concern is just being able to fly this char again, as I have over 100 hours in it and have mapped all Altair and >90% of Sirius with it. Losing all the stuff in it really doesn't matter.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue. When launching to space with any char, the game crashes during loading screen. After that, I cannot login to the same character again. The "corrupt" characters now are Event_Manager_Wanderer and (IOC)Fencer.
Windows event viewer shows the following info:

Launching to space works fine in single player. In MP, I can still fly chars which were previously left in space (undocked).
Tested with different shaders in Win XP and Win 7 (running the game on different graphic cards) and with CF files restored from a working backup. The problem was present in all cases.
P.S. Looks like the server is down at the moment.

Perhaps they are, as its the only char with the problem - hence my guess that a particular piece of equipment is causing it.
I was able to log in today, then hit undock and game crashed. This is the point where the crashes started to occur.
So I guess that the ship is now located somewhere in Arena system - and not docked - hence the error when I try to log in:
"E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\space\space.cpp(394) : *** WARNING: [CockpitCamera] unknown property 'znear = 2'"Perhaps relocating the char on a base would fix it ? In the essence that if I am able to log after relocation, I would sell the ship along with all it's equipment.

There is similar problem with different chars and different users (e.g. here is another report banned again - SWAT Portal). It should have a more general cause than bugged equipment.
