Looking over the global server list while waiting for the SWAT server to restart, I noticed another CF 1.7 server online: Australasian (CF), IP # 125.237.224.26 There were 3/48 players, and the site is apparently passworded... just an FYI for OP, who probably already knew about this one!?!
Another Pirated CF??

i tried it to see whats the ping on it and i had it around 350 and kicked my out immidiately.
and noone is playing there eitherthis server is still the best
-
Maybe OP's emigrating..to austrailia...or attempting global domination..

Hi there...
Just to clarify OP - you didn't tell 'those guys' anything. LoL
Question - How are they to react if you dont contact them. Oooops I just did.BTW - Getting Angry wont help
"Australasian (CF)" is there for lag reasons. Not such a big deal.
-
lag reasons? That makes no sense. It will resolve teh lag of course, but nobody else will play on it. So to say tis for lag makes sense but is sensless.
-
The server is not running so SWAT peeps can come play.
Infact, I would expect your lag (and therefore kick) to work the same as if we tried playing on the SWAT German server.
The server was actually password protected not in an attempt to hide it from you but to stop SWAT'ers from playing on it. Our intention is certainly not to reduce numbers from the German Swat server.
We do EnJoy the experience without the lag thou and obviously we all think it's an awesome mod. Congrats.
-
A better connection? I am in the western part of the US and I have a better connection to the germany server then the australian one. The only thing the au server could offer is the same maps as it seems to not have nearly the same size player size so it is good for getting use to the map without having LP flly around and take pot shots at you.

1. i DID send a message... i also wrote a few pms to a guy that plays there and i was online there aswell
2. there is an agreement of usage for this mod which has been broken
3. even the readme does say to ask for permission
4. to get that mod running you had to edit/manipulate several things on the mod... and that was not permitted
5. there is only 1 CF community and that is this one here
-
how can it be that they got the same commdities in the same places on the same days as we have?
today eg they are absolutely identically distributed as on our server.

because they get their updates directly from the SWAT server
-
hmmm this is annoying [11] [11] [11] [11] [11] [11] [11]

1. not recieved. sending a msg to a player aint contacting.
2. the agreement was studied before the server was put up and we obviously believe it has not been broken.
3. not in the readme we have. however we did ask you before we started and permission was not denied. OP you knew we were doing this months ago.
4. to get a crossfire server up and running NO Crossfire files need be edited, as you would know.
5. agreed.
A. WE cant play on the SWAT server.
B. LAG is the ONLY issue WE have. (it's difficult to kill AI, Impossible to PvP)Actually, I cant understand why this is such a big deal for your server. It's ok to play offline single player but not ok to play together without the lag, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD LoL. Come on fellas relax.
@Boyscout - We playing the crossfire mod. Whats so annoying about that. Why get annoyed at all.

Although... that is the way the mod is written. Anyone playing the game (Single or Multiplayer ) anywhere in the world, is required to get the updates from the Swat Server, everytime they start the game up.
WOW... that must amount to HEAPS of Downloads.
Personally, I would have written the downloader to download all the dynamic updates once and then just have the patchrules tell the clients which one the server is running. 22b compared to 600kb download eachtime. oh well. *wink*

This Mod does contain models greated by several other Mod creators. The SWAT-Portal does hold all neccessary permissions to use these models and proper Credits to the original authors have been given.
The SWAT-Portal and the Crossfire development team do not have the right to grant permission to use these models in other projects."i marked the important parts... and since you changed files to make the mod workable on ur server you did alter the mod itself which is a violation of this agreement
to say that you didnt modify any CF files is not correct coz the files which were needed to run a server are protected and are part of the crossfire mod3. i dont remember if you did ask or not but for sure i didnt give any permission
this is the part of the readme (which is included EVERY crossfire mod since the first release 2 years ago)"NOTE: This mod is copyrighted by the SWAT-Portal.

you run a mod on ur server containing data that is copyrighted... including the clanlogos... names... any many other parts... only the original Crossfire server has the right to use those

if you would understand how the launcher is working and what purpose it has you would know that this is absolutly impossibleit also would open a wide spread door for cheaters if it would be done in that way and limit the functions of the launcher dramatically

wrong!
there is no update needed to play single player...
-
annoying is that there are ppl who work for something and that other ppl do not respect the work or/and use that particular work without permission.
that was simply said!!!!!
u sound reasonable m8 i must say. ur only mistake is that u actually never had permission to open another CF server - and still recieve the updates from the right one.
many missunderstandings would have been avoided if u would have asked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is how i see it
-
My goodness ppl. Being in Europe and America, you have tons of servers to choose from without lag problems. Infact, I doubt that you ever have to deal with it.
Give them a bit of slack here. All they are doing is trying to appreciate a great mod without the warping AI or constantly being disconnected because of ping.
