  • Maybe we all lost our pvp skills during the long period Crossfire was unavailable and waiting to be downloaded from Lancers = probably not.


    I actually think that some changes occured in 1.7 either planned or unplanned that has now affected PVP.


    My own evidence for this is simple - people that beat me easily in PVP in the previous version - are now finding it harder - and I dont think I improved in pvp cos the server was unavailable so I couldnt practice.


    This could be an affect of the (yes I am ignorant I know) of the dynamic universer or the asf/csf scoring thing.


    As for missiles not locking - several people have told me this - and I am for keeping it this way :-)

    those original FL missiles havent change from the original version and those other (new) are coded in the same way



    i found a pretty easy way to solve this missile problem in pvp.... i dont use them

  • Sorry if this is a stupid question. Missiles were working fine up until about 3 or 4 days ago. About the same time as when the prices stopped changing in Dynamic Economy. Could there be any connection?


    Gunny did you download the patch for the CF launcher? I have not yet as I had no need. I will try adding patch tonight after work. May be why missiles work for some but not others.

  • On prices I will be checking that and I would like others to do the same .
    I will need details on exactly what is happening ,not just prices havent changed :)

    as a testament to things not homing....The other day Rhone let me torp him to calm me down. He stayed still and i fired my torp at him it went stright and missed him. In the end i actually had to stand 500 m away, line up the shot and spam the torp key. Even then they almost missed :O I believe the homing probs r directly connected to lag. since at that time there was 50 or so people. And no i dont suck at aiming :P

  • I started back up in trading a few days ago, which is prolly after prices stopped changing. Ill take a look later on this evening, though. And i dont think theres a connection between that and the missiles, either. I pvp'd Rev last night and killed him with a torp hit, so the lag is definetly whats killing everyones game, as well as the missile guidance systems.


    There were 47 people online yesterday when i was in NB with some other players; it was lagging and jumping like nothing ive ever seen. Later on, around 9:20 ish central, there were only 17 people online, and the server was running nice and smooth. The lagging and jumping is most likely a combination of FLStat running in the background, and all the new players who saw the mod on the front page of LR.


    The server rpobably either needs to stop running the stat tool, or simply to have a lower player limit. The most players i ever saw online at once in 1.62 was 27, which wasnt even the record high ov over 30. And there waws sone decent lag even then.

  • I am NOT interested in missiles ,I need info on trading ASAP.


    I suggest pilots see what happens when they do not use missiles or mines ect.Try guns for a change:)

  • Btw, as for an update on the missile thing...


    Burro and I conducted a test in New Berlin five minutes ago. He stopped his ship 1K from my rhineland battleship (turned broadside to him). First he fired missiles and CDs aimed slightly below my hull. The missiles did not home (there was one beep for the lock alarm and then silence) and they passed harmlessly below without even changing course. The CDs on the other hand, though spinning around madly, did home and strike without incident.


    The second test included a salvo of missiles aimed directly at the centre of my ship from about 800m. When the missiles were fired exactly the same thing happened (as a matter of fact, I was just barely able to avoid them with the battleship's horizontal straffing jets). The missiles might work for some of you, but for the rest of us they shoot straight and without any form of intelegence... interpret as you will :D

  • There are 2 programs: the stats tool that does the PvP score ranking at http://www.swat-portal.de/sektionen/bg/bg/pvp.php and the CF_RRS (= Crossfire Robotic Referee Tool) at http://www.crossfire.swat-portal.de/cfevent.php.


    Both run once a day to calculate the score u see in the tables.


    They use the pvp results that are recorded by FLHook... (those u can check online with the "/frags" command)

  • @ Wavey: No changes have been seen in Dynamic Economy for at least 5 days (unless OP has fixed it before I could post this). I have a "library" of high-value goods in one of my ships, and it does not even display where the goods are sold anymore, only the base price and the top prices known to be paid for the item.


    I had been tracking the locations of the base commodity menus, to see if there was any pattern to the rotation, but they stopped changing. The only thing I can say for sure about the dynamics, when they were working, is that the entire base commodity list is swapped for another bases' list when the updates are done. I initially thought that these lists were only rotated within each house, but in the last few days of dynamics, saw that some offerings from other houses were showing up in NY, for example. I have done enough trading in all these bases to tell which one a list belongs to when I see it. In some cases, individual commodities are bought for historically high prices, and in others, one or two commodities remain fixed in location.


    At the moment, however, it's a welcome break to go to a location for a known bargain... :]
