  • Having a sizeable number of battleships, I was amazed when something revolutionary had happened. OP's promise to make the battleships as manueverable as crusiers came through, giving the ships at least less of a disadvantage. Though still outgunned by their smaller cousins, the dreadnaughts now sacrifice firepower for speed and armor, which makes them a feasable option now for anti-capship engagements, train hunting, and mowing down of inexperienced players :D


    There was also the thrill of the hunt while scouring the Unknowns for Lost Paradise and the Deva Station. Having 5 Unknowns is somewhat confusing though... there is an Upper, a Lower, and 3 without much distinction. I encourage clans to give the new ones nicknames to avoid refering to them as "the blue one" "the one with the mines" or "the big cloud". The systems are beautiful and deserve a bit more respect than that :P. The moving jh makes the system difficult to get to at any particular moment, and inserts a false sense of distance between it and the rest of the systems (which is great since it really ought to take you an hour to get from X-3043 to Paradise rather than the 10 minutes it'd take if the jh was fixed). Reaching Lost Paradise itself was its own reward though, greeting the eye with candy in the forms of water, grass-coated earth, and beautiful, sprawling beaches. After searching the map for awhile I realized that we're not meant to wander too far from Cathedral Outpost though... once I nearly died in a sun corona and another found myself flying over an endless stretch of ocean :O. The empty bar at the outpost is great though... if there had been Bretonnians in there I would have beat my head against my monitor. As is there's a vibe of abandonment and I'm pretty sure that's what you were looking for :)


    Back in space there's the station to pin down of course. Deva is an easy find, but doesn't show on the nav map so one has to be careful to memorize its location once found. Though the visual effect of the weapons therein were not that of a DK pulse cannon like most of us had hoped, it remains a coveted prize and something worth waiting long to attain.


    As for Hyperspace, I'd like to know how one knows when it's open or closed? Without a station along the way it's a 3-4 hour round trip and can only be undertaken on a weekend. I certainly don't want to spend that sort of time going though only to find that the gate is locked. I'm sure there's an easy way or it's on the launcher, I just haven't picked up on it yet ;(. From what I've heard though the motherships beyond the gate put up a good fight and turn the skirmish into something of an adventure, so I'm sure the journey will appeal to many.


    At any rate, I would like to thank you for these outstanding features OP, the others I forgot to mention, and praise once again your mastery of modding. May 1.7 be yet another standard for the other modders to reach for. :))

  • well it was on....but its impossible to dock to the gate...why! becuase its red now...and it will kill you as soon as you are within 3k....with weapons that can not be seen and wasting an hour to go there and die...with or without a group of people...i mean come on, who is gonna want to spend and hour to go to menton with a group and ''play'' the decoy on the gate turrets and get killed while your other friends if they are lucky enough to even go in and then get killed either way by Mothership DKs. Even if they survived that what happens when they escape that place with the DKAs, wont they get shot down by the Gate itself and loose there valuable DKAs? Good thing i can get DKAs on the Deva Station atleast.


    so far this is only the thing i dislike about the mod...other than that everything in this mod is great..although the dynamic commodities..it seems too easy for people to get rich..i see alot of new people already on rank 63 and above..in less than a day. or maybe someone is helping them i guess.


    p.s. i wish the DKAs were actualy the DK pulse gun texture rather than a cerebus or whatever those MKII guns are called.

    the commodities can be readjusted to prevent super trade routes but that will take time


    and the textures hmmm lemme see if i can change them

  • I have taken screenshots to see what the gate is shooting at me... the refire rate and sheer power of the Dom'Kavash Hypergate's defenses make it the most powerfuly armed object in the mod. I've been told that it stays neutral and doesn't shoot usually, but in that case it did. I'm certainly not going out there if I'm going to get dockraped by the gate on my way out :P It presents a challenge though and that's always good I suppose.


    With the commodities... aren't there uber-routes in real life though? The values and locales of things are ever-changing, but there are supposed to be good routes out there. I'm not saying that everyone should get rich fast, but the challenge should be to find the great route, not to scratch out barely enough for the next upgrade. There needs to be a fine balance between amassing credits and the time it takes to get them. I think we'd be best off waiting awhile and seeing whether that has a positive or negative effect on gameplay before crippling the best routes. :D


    A change in the textures on the DKA really would be awesome though (I'll use it for its stats if I have to, but atm it's got a negative eyecandy value). Better as is though than having no gun at all, so either way I'm appreciative :D

    cuz Deva station gives out too less guns and i cant get it even when i get on the server after the server restart when the wrecks are restarting, lol
    now, thats a ll bit strange for me

  • Re - the dynamic universe and 'Uber Routes'


    What is happening is that hi value BMG routes can be found in the next system,


    for example in the last 3 days


    NL to Dublin and NL to Leeds


    these routes can be 8k profit per item


    this needs to be sorted by OP - or smoothed out a bit more - cos if its random - this will happen everynow and again.


    However, if its random, but happens often - then yep we all gonna be rich!!


    Let's wait and see if it happens often or rarely.

  • My arguement is that I used to be able to make 60 million credits per hour and thus far I've only been able to pull off half of that... you're right saying that it should be looked over, but the fact remains that if we can't get rich fast then we're just poor (and not being able to get a good fighter scares newcomers away like nothing else can). Maybe I've just been unlucky or picked the wrong routes, but so far I've found this to be harder than how things used to be

  • is that not the idea that it is ment to be harder and make ppl look more for the uber trade runs? i found one and made some good money on it and then it was gone the next time i played which made me go to other systems to find a new one.


    azadurrahman might have found the secret to the dynamic universe which is cool for him but dont be surprised if one time its not where you expsect it to be.


    i like the way things are and as for noobs well there are always ppl around to help them out and get them started and there is always custodian which could still have good routes for them.

    Dont change it, it is realistic and it makes you involve in team work to bypass the gate. About someone to be sacrifice, well, it makes mod challenging enough to pump up your adrenaline what else would you ask better than this.

    If they are too scared we can help them a bit. But the newcomers usually don't trade in train and with the dynamic universe there are very good and short routes for APC every single day :D:rolleyes: .

  • wow i knew they hurt but i didnt know they were deadly enough to murder DK mothers :D And btw nice job making the DK gate kill DK mother lol. I really think the DK gate needs to be toned down quite a bit. I visited it in SP a while back too with invincibility and i got screenies of it too...that thing has REAL Gattlings, the refire rate and damage is insane. It is possible to dodge it...for the most part(I call it the barrel role move, i learned it from npcs lol), but when u start docking itll kill u.

  • Lol, I think I'm the official Gate Charmer :D. I can fly up to the thing in a Bullpup Mk 3, bump into it, and get away again without losing my shield (though insane evasives were employed :P). The gate is savage though and unless the wep stregth is reduced hardly anyone will ever be able to extract the new weps for Hyperspace in one piece... It's bragging rights as it is to survive a trip to and from Menton when you're alone, but this pushes the envelop to the point where you either need to be really lucky or have a full team of 8 or so (skilled) pilots.

  • what the hell are those green beams? i hope that arent weapons projectiles, lol.
    and isnt the gate supposed to be white from time to time? well, i think the way is clear when the gate turns into white. maybe could this help us further ?

  • The green streams are contrails from the particle projectiles... and the gate will shoot at you when it's white too (I learned that the hard way :P)
