Crossfire + Windows 10 build 1809

    Just a quick info.

    I was able to reproduce the problem that prevented some players with the latest windows 10 version to launch the game.

    As it looks Microsoft redesigned a part of their Dx12 runtimes when they implemented the DXR Raytracing API which now fails to call certain functions that were available before. Result is a crash in the kernelbase.dll.

    Eventhough I have located the problem I have no final fix for it yet.

    But I have implemented a workaround into the vanillaFL shader that you can access on the launcher options.

    That should at least allow you to run the game.


    Ill see if i can find a true fix to the problem as soon as possible.

    wie komme ich an den "FL-shader" um CF starten zu können?

    Ich habe in der Launchermaske unter Shader auf FL-Shader eingestellt.

    Ohne Erfolg.

    Muß ich einen neuen, aktuelleren L. herunterladen?

    Wenn ja, wo?

    Doesn't work for me.

    I selected the Vanilla FL shaders in the settings tab.

    But my game still doesn't launch and I get the same error code as before (ffffffffc06d007e [E000000D3]).

    did you allow the launcher to do an update first?

    Nabend, jetzt mal auf Deutsch ( :P ) Der Launcher selber zeigt mir keine anderen Shaderoptionen an als "No Selection" versucht auch nicht zu updaten, habs auch shcon mit der "Launcher Updater" Exe probiert aber der schließt den Launcher und macht auch genauso wenig, weder mit Adminmode noch sonstwas, woran kann das liegen?

    Der Launcher muss eine andere Option als "no selection" anzeigen weil selbst wenn man nichts dort ausgewählt hat standardmäßig FXAA eingestellt ist.

    "No Selection" sollte da dementsprechend überhaupt nicht existieren können es sei denn man hat es selbst so ausgewählt.

    Die einzige Möglichkeit wie das doch sein könnte wäre wenn irgendwas auf deinem PC verhindert dass Updates überhaupt heruntergeladen werden (was dieses etwas ist ist mir nicht bekannt).


    Mal abgesehen davon habe ich gerade ein paar Tests durchgeführt und festgestellt dass die neue Konfiguration für den VanillaFL shader leider verteilt wird wenn der Launcher bereits auf der aktuellsten Version läuft. Die neuen Einstellungen werden nur übertragen bei Spielern die gerade neu installiert haben.

    Das lässt sich aber beheben indem man die ".\Freelancer\EXE\launcher.ini" vollständig löscht (ein Launcherupdate wird damit ausgeführt) und beim nächsten Launcherstart den VanillaFL shader erneut auswählt.

    I did some tests and noticed that the latest changes did not apply correctly to users which previously did a launcher update. All users with a fresh installation by default get the update applied but users which had CF already installed need to manually initiate a launcher update.

    For this you will have to delete the ".\Freelancer\EXE\launcher.ini"

    Once done the launcher will start to update itself on the next launch and also apply the latest changes to the configuration. All you have to do after that is to select the vanilla FL shader from the launcher options.


    I will try to figure out a better solution how to distribute the new config automatically but atm deleting the launcher.ini should be working.

    However, a confirmation if this has been working for you would be nice.

    Hi, I'm totally new here! looking foward the experience, I like to think thatfreelancer has been one the best games I've ever played. Crossfire 2.o just looks amazing to play . although, ever though I followed the instructions religously, with a clean install, the 1.31 version of FLMM and the vanila FL in the launcher, I still get the:

    any idea as how to help me ?

    caragenine sometimes when I had to reinstall Crossfire my anti-virus would mess with the install proses so try disabling it when installing next time that should help if not it could be some other software issue with your computer

    letzter Crash nach dem die launcher.ini rausflog...

    direct play und net. sind on, vanilashader ist im launcher angewählt

    alle mods+ corssfire 1.8 und 1.9 laufen nur 2.0


    alles ohne Erfolg....!

    diese Datei bitte mal in das ".\Freelancer\EXE\" Verzeichnis entpacken und die files.bat Datei ausführen.

    Die neu erzeugte files.txt dann bitte hier posten.

    Hi OP I have a New machine with the new win 10 & MSI GEFORCE RTX and I am Getting the same Crash Exit code.

    did the files.bat worked for you?

    The workaround should work 100% and so should the bat file.


    Based on the image you attached I am wondering why you did put that file into the FLMM folder instead of the FL folder where Crossfire is installed to.

    And Im really hoping that you didnt install FL into the "Programme (x86)" folder because windows will only grant you limited permissions in there.
