I don't want to know what ship is best, I want to know which ship is the fastest!

There is indeed a faster ship, however it is a scout ship. so its not as heavily armed as a Flathead.

Very interesting. I always assumed the max cruise speed for all ships was 450. I have no justification for this other than every ship I've owned its max. cruise speed was set at 450. Part of my role here is to explore Systems and publish my/our findings (working through Matind Forlon) in updating maps at the Sectors and Systems section in WIKI. Anything that makes my search faster is always appreciate.

However (1) other ship's stats don't appear to specify the Max. Cruise Speed.

Dragonfly being an exception.

Also (2) there appears to be no information in ship stats that give details on their Scanner range.

An important issue for me when exploring a System. No point in flying faster if I can't see as far.

Any help regarding (1) and (2) would be appreciated. Thanks

I believe most small spacecraft have 450 cruise speed. Battleships/Dreadnoughts have 550. Dragonfly and Battleships/Dreadnoughts with Battleship Upgrade (Engines) applied have 600. Ragnarok Gunboat and Yggdrassil Battleship are even faster.

In Crossfire, scanner range depends on the scanner installed on the ship rather than ship itself, and it is listed on the scanner's stats. IIRC Vanilla ships come with basic Scanner and Crossfire ships with Deep Scanner.

If I look at the details regarding the Ragnarok, it doesn't show me its max. cruise speed.

Where do I do to find that out?

EDIT: Looks like I can't buy it anyway. Only available to Admins, Galaxy Rangers and Server Police! Ha!

Regarding scanners, my ship has fitted an Adv. Subspace Scanner with a range of 12500m and I don't believe there is any scanner with a higher range. I've bought the best there is.

Am I right?

You probably mixed the numbers. The Flathead has a cruise speed of 450.

Thanks for that denne. At the moment I'm heading for Sigma-17 in SP to see if I can buy the Dragonfly. As for the Ragnarok, I'll give that a go as well, if I can find a place to buy it.

the Dragonfly you can buy only on clanbases. clan bases you can find only in MP. in SP u cannot obtain the Dragonfly. the only way getting a faster ship in SP is docking on the Nomad Station in Styx and buy the Ragnarok there. i have never done this, but other players say it is possible.

or, buy a Battleship or Dreadnought. they have a cruise-speed of 550.

Arrrr ….. problem. I'm at Styx. Looks like I have to be an Admin or GR officer to access the Nomad Station. Meer Corporal me.
