Splash damage

  • currently it doesnt matter if you are close to an enemy or not during a pvp.... the explosions when you kill him do no harm yet



    but it is possible to create a splash damage for those explosions
    that means you kill some1... he/she explodes with the ship and the explosion does damage to your own ship (lets say in a range of 50-100)
    -> meaning that the explosion might kill you if you are not careful


    this would create more realism but it also would make the combats a little bit more complicated



    so what do you think? yes or no?
    i will add a heavy splash damage to the roid miners no matter how you vote (this way ppl cant camp at the opponents base)

  • great idea OP.
    is it possible to vary the value of damage concerning ship type, e.g.:
    light fighter: 500 Shield/ 500 Hull, distance 50
    battleship: 10000 Shield / 10000 Hull, distance 200
    (values are fictious)
    I think a BS has a bigger Power Gen and more ammo so there has to be a bigger explosion :)
    A nice extra were different colors of explosions like yellow for a LF and deep red for a BS...
    Im a modding noob so i have no idea if this is possible...

    I just imagine the tactical possibilities of this, like sacrificing a BS pilot to kill lots of enemies with one strike... in ASF/CSF maybe...

    Streamer's idea is good to... If it's possible it should be logical that the blast value and radius depend on the power generator of the ship and maybe the armement too.

  • When flying through a ship explosion, we currently hear and see debris impacting on the hull, so it seems logical that this would also cause more damage to one's own ship, especially a capital ship. I would expect nomad (and Dom K'vash?) ships to have a higher energy yield than human models, so blast radius would be proportionately larger... Great idea, I look forward to trying it, OP! :D

  • marc for pvp it doesnt change much.... the guy that dies first is the looser


    so it doesnt matter if you die because of his explosion or coz you crash into the next planet just coz u dont want to repair the ship

  • and how do you want to find out who if its a draw or if someone is the winner?


    in some fights it happens that both die. for example slow missiles or they just shoot at the same time.


    and other times you just survive with some hull points, when now the splash damages come its a draw :(


    i only crash into the planet when i need new missiles, not when only some hullpoints are missing.....




    oh and the roid miners splash damage is useless
    - when you have shild only the shild is down
    - the own team will be attacked too

  • well marc if its a draw then its a draw... finito... no winners


    leave it to the fact that splash damage will be limited to a small area for fighters


    oh and the miners
    ur right thats why i have to shoot 1 times with my railgun
    but what if i find a way to time the explosion?... put a 2nd explosion in it with a delay.... first shields down then hull


    the defenders can respawn on their base while the attackers will have to fly the whole way again
