When you are in X-3043 there's a gate to Regalis (turn around from Omicron Alpha gate) or have a look in New London system for gate to The Corridor. Real close to X-3043 if you continue that route.

So my question is, how important are roles on the swat server?
is it mainly a roleplaying server?

longterm aim: get into a role and join a clan that offers the role you like to play!
No there is no way to bypass the CF launcher. If you do so you can cause server crashes and others from having fun. Its required.
Pirates role is to get your money, shot at you and make your life on CF a bit more complicated. Police however should try to protect you. You are part of these roles as soon you join the server, although in limited ranges, but you are part. Get aware of these roles... finally they are important and keep the dice roling
