  • wow.....excellent! I won't be able to join on the hard missions, I can't come close to those skills and spec's :) Well done!

  • Judging by that list of BOff's, you'll be able to make good use of the new loadout tool... ^^

My rig: i3-4130 Core Duo (3.4Ghz), Gigabit GA-B85-HD3 mobo, 8Gb PC1600ram, Samsung 2x 80Gb SATA RAID, Intel Integrated graphics, 3 optical drives, 23" Asus HD monitor + peripherals

Character names: Centaurian_Alpha & CA derivatives
Founder: Independent Operators' Consortium (established 2006)

  • I actually dont need that loadout tool as the boff setting ive choosen for space is final

For space I only use the boffs which have space traits and can boost my ship performance (this is done in such a way for all my chars)
For ground i actually have a standard away team but since i have so many additional ground doffs i can switch if the mission requires it.
But that is actually just result .... or better to say a side effect of my way of playing the game.
I always tend to try achieving and doing everything that is possible in a game... so as result I unlocked all special boffs you can get during the storyline, via accolades and special achievements.

With other words: the Pokemon syndrome (gotta catch em all)

But for space many of these Boffs would be useless since they dont have any space traits.
Still they are great for Ground coz of incredible ground traits.
e.g. Mandrake is a special Borg BOFF with great ground healing abilities so he is in my away team
Eclypse is also a special Borg BOFF but due to the EFFICIENT space trait is best used for the Bridge crew.

  • Of course, the rollovers don't work on the image, but it looks as though you've got the various space sets organized by reputation. I guess that means the "sort" button is off limits for you! :P

  • ive put it into that order to keep track of whats missing (the solanae warp core was as i still had the ship boxed)

    from left to right
first shields, then engines, then deflectors and then the warp cores

I dont have the lobi sets and some ship specific sets
and i think the nukara weapon set is missing

i think i also should have all ground sets except the nukara ones (but didnt check it yet)

im just wondering if with the R&D update that we can expect soon the Aegis set which i already have is getting adjusted or if i need a new set

I read on the STO forum this morning that the current Aegis set will get an automatic upgrade to the Mk XII in 9.5 if you already have it; makes me want to hurry up and craft one for each of my alts before then. Sadly, I don't think there is time, since I only really pursued it on 1 of 4 char's. :S

  • Aux2bat is a very reliable setup and I clearly would use it on most of my chars.

On my main char however I would go for the Zemok build for the fact that it more effective.
But i guess that also depends on the ship.
I cant really imagine that its working that good on a science vessel since you dont have enough eng. and tac console slots.

One big problem with the Zemok build compared to the aux2bat is that with zemok only your cooldowns of tactical boff skills is boosted while on aux2bat all boff skills take benefit of the cooldown reduction fron the 3 technicans.
That results in much better more frequent use of heals which make an aux2bat build very durable while you have only minimal heals on the Zemok build.
I have tried to compensate that with the threat-scaling science consoles from our embassy. Without those my ship would explode every 30seconds in an adv. stf.
Using these threat scaling sci consoles in combination with a plasma build has the additional benefit that you can make use of the additional plasma modifier of these consoles which adds +9% plasma damage each.

The Zemok build in my eyes is perfect for somebody who has enough EC to afford it (you easily need 100-150mio EC for the doffs), has choosen tac as captain and has a ship with many engineering and tactical console slots -> escorts or tactical cruisers.

  • i need a few opinions on my build as i feel its not right yet

I got rid of the commando T6 starship trait -> demolition team
"Space Trait. Every 4 sec, applies a Demolition Team debuff to your primary target (or nearest foe) within a 2km radius. Once 5 debuffs applied, deals 71.6 kinetic damage (100% shield penetration) Additional Demolition Teams cannot be applied for 12 sec after a successful detonation."
Putting aside that its hard to stay in 2km range when flying a cruiser its also a ridiclous amount of damager to a single target for a time period of 5x4secs)

Instead im using now the "all hands on deck" trait which reduces the cooldowns of Sci Boffs abilities and Captain abilites by 5% everytime a tactical ability or a command ability is used... max once every 5 seconds.
Since I have a tactical captain an zemok build with many tactical abilities which periodically cycle the chances to trigger such cooldowns are damn high.
It certainly is not realistic to claim that i would really be able to get a cooldown reduction every 5 seconds since its nearly impossible to have such a perfect timing but i would say that its possible to get at least 2 cooldowns per 15 seconds.
Afterall im running 2x FAW, Attack Pattern Beta, Attack Pattern Omega, 2x tactical team so the chances are fairly good to trigger the effect of this trait twice every 15 seconds especially since due to my zemok build my tactical boff ability already have a minimal cooldown and trigger very frequently.
So in theory i should get every 15 seconds at least 10% cooldown reduction on my 2 sci boff abilities and on all my captain abilities.

    That would be atm:
    Science Team 1
    Hazard Emitters 2

    Attack Pattern Alpha
    Fire on my Mark
    Tactical Fleet
    Tactical Initiative
Go down fighting (if low hull)

Abbandon ship (which i never use)
    Brace for impact
Fleet Support (only when low hull)
    Ramming speed (nerver use that)
Evasive Maneuvers (im not sure if this is working here as i did not notive any CD reduction)

The CD reductions on the sci abilities will help me to survice a bit longer considering how much aggro i get.
The CD reductoins on tac abilities, especially attack pattern alpha, tac fleet and fire on my mark will buff my dps. Tactical initiative will also trigger more often which actually would reduce the cooldowns of tactical boff skills even more.
Brace for impact will certainly also benefit from the cooldown since i can raise my kinetic resist and crew death resist rate this way. And since i have a shield dist doff in active space duty i might receive shield heals more often from the brace for impact now.
Fleet support might come to use later when i unlock the t6 trait for the Command spec... then i can call fleet support even when my hull is above 50%. -> might serve as an additional combat pet.
I didnt notice any improvements to the cooldown of evasive maneuvers... dunno why.

The "all hands on deck" trait does even reduce the cooldowns below the min cooldown. Means there is no limitation. And the 5% reduction from the first few looks like a flat out calculation based on the 100% cooldown time... not based on the still remaining cooldown time.

Ive found this analysis of the trait on reddit:

    Quote

Attack Pattern Alpha: 30s duration, 90s cooldown... after 45 seconds the CD is reduced to 45 seconds.
Tactical Fleet: 30s duration, 300s cooldown... after 70s the CD is reduced to 75 seconds.
Tactical Initiative: 45s duration, 180s cooldown... after 60s the CD is reduced to 63 seconds.
Fire On My Mark: 30s duration, 120s cooldown... after 50s the CD is reduced to 54 seconds.

However... putting this trait aside (the purpose of it is pretty clear).... i am wondering if i would improve my build in further ways.
Is it possible to improve my Sci boff abilities somehow?
Is it possible to improve my Eng boff abilities somehow?
Tac boff abilities are perfect the way they are.

Any cool traits that might improve this build even further?

I was also thinking about replacing my Sci consoles now that they were nerfed.
e.g. I could replace one with a "rare" tachyokinetic converter (and try to upgrade it then to get better stats)

    Quote

    +22.9% Flight Turn Rate
    +17.2 Starship Graviton Generators
    +0.76% Critical Chance
    +7.6% Critical Severity

The 3 sci consoles I use atm produce about 1500 dps. Removing one might reduce the dps by 500.
Assuming my ship does 20k AP damage and 20% of that is critical damage (-> 4k dps) I would get about the same back when i use the converter as blue console and more when upgraded.

I also was wondering if it might be a good idea to remove one of my rear beam arrays and replace it with an Omni-Directional Antiproton Beam Array + Reactive Antiproton Cascade Emitter

    Quote

Taunts the target and up to 4 other targets within 5km, forcing these targets to attack your ship for 20 sec.

To Self:+100 All Energy Damage Resistance Rating for 20 secReduces Damage to Shields by 50% for 20 secTo Self:After 10 sec, Grants Reactive Antiproton Cascade for 10 secReactive Antiproton CascadeReflects energy damage back at the attacker for 200% of the incoming damage up to 4 times per second.

in order to get the 2set bonus -> "Focused Antiproton Emitters - +10% Antiproton Damage"

    so... thoughts... opinions?
