Trains a pointless wast of time?

  • hi guys i'm not to happy with the Trains as a cop on there server im killed alot Due to the large amouts of pirates on the sever and 99% of this time im the only cop playing so im very outnumbered i have come to the point that i need cash and fast to keep on going with all the pirates. so i go buy a train costing 56mill to fined out i can only doc on 29 of the planits or bases in the hole of crossfire(i have flown that thing all over space its hard enuff to fly and according to my ships info iv only docked on 29 bases how many other's are there over 150 ) i cant even dock on shipyards that's a bit odd as they make BIG SHIPS do they not ? so they need lager amounts of mettles and things for the building


    a trains Role play trade large amounts of cargo to bases and planits according to Crossfire no its for hauling cargo pods only making 800.000k per pod note that it can only hold 6 pods thats about 5/6 mill for a 10min trip to house plaits thats a grate run make 70mill for 5hs trading but that really sucks its a train what happened to the 2500 Cargo hold it has are the pods not ment to hold the cargo in them yes ok i can try mine in it but its a train u can berly fit it in a lane or gate let a lone a mining rock field if i dont want to fly it in i can hire a miner o wait don't see many flying and the cash for mining is relly not that grate so im told not relly looked in to it my self but i plan to but i dont get how the miner works here is it shoot any rock that's in space ? let me know


    seems to me u can make more cash in an APC then in a Train its faster easy to fly and docs everywhere has a nice hold makes grate uese for smuggling nice and fast and can hold its own in a fight and can win that fight all in all a grate trade ship love it


    the cash wasted on a train its a pointless wast of time i may as wel given that cash to the pirates tax funds to leave me alone for a few days so i can trade in my APC ship so can anyone let me know the good points of a train so i can not think about the cash i spent on it ?

    @TGT_Drunken-master: Actually you can do in train in some days 70-80M/hour (maybe even more) if you know where and how and with legal cargo and not top commodity. If you can meet me tomorrow evening in space, I can give you more tips how to raise moneys faster. ... it need some practice, but imo you will be nicely able manage finances and have alot time for killing pirates and chase smugglers.


    ... and forget about APC, are better ships for trade you need :)


    ... and if you will trade not alone, you have even more options.

    Trains are still very useful to make large sums of cash, you just have to find some nice profitable commodities you can trade alongside those cargo pods.
    This often let's you double the 10 mill per round-trip you get from just podding.
    there are definitely more than 29 stations you can dock. i'll give you a little train-tour next time, if you're interested.

    Sell at Planet New Tokyo for 1,008,000 each - total 6,048,000 - profit 4,848,000


    At New Tokyo, buy 6 Titanium containers and return to Manhattan - another 4,848,000


    Repeat as necessary...


    There are slightly shorter container routes but this one doesn't travel thru clouds or asteroid areas. Trade lanes or open space [autopilot] all the way.
    Super easy and about 25 million per hour on average.

    @ Whiskyrunners_Inc. and Martind Forlonit be a grate help if u can help me out tho as for the 29 docs where are the rest I have been in every system only house systems let me doc in 1/2 bases there and most plaints hear mooring so I know I can doc on them and iv been looking for runs to join up for the cargo some days theres nothing yesterday there was a nice run but most of the week not seen much to take

  • Well, I could tell you a really good standard cargo trade run for today but then I have to tell you a different one for tomorrow...and then the next day because we have something called... DYNAMIC ECONOMY. It changes each day. So, here is what I do: if there is a good cargo to take along with my pods from NY to NT and back, then I buy some. If there isn't, then I don't.


    Also, a train flies poorly with a full 2500 units of cargo. A train also flies poorly with 6 containers. A train flies really, really bad with both because of the extra weight. Bad acceleration and large amounts of inertia. I have tried this and I didn't make any more money because it took twice as long to make a run. Takes twice as long to get up to speed and often overshooting tradelanes and gates due to inertia. It's really not worth it to carry both.
