Op, correct me if i'm wrong, is it possible to add bump maps to stations? IIRC it is. I know it doesn't seem to work on ships as i've tried that but i seem to recall it works on stations with the BcBt line in the type section in a mat file

FL is a directx8 game
bump mapping is not supported
Bt = Bitmap tile (something like detailmaps) -
Ok, wasn't sure of that as i have loads of different textures available for a new station model and thought i might try one of the extra maps to see what happens
-
dx8 has bump mapping constants - they must be useful somewhat... I just could imagine that the engine does ignore it for some certain reasosns. Maybe it wasnt stable enough at that times the engine was created...

When the dx9 plugin is done then i'll go nuts bump mapping all my models i think, will look great on custom planets, ships, bases, whatever
-
if you can use it
i doubt that ill be allowed to include it into my mod (your chances are probably better) -
I distinctly remember Sushi and the rest of the Star Wars: Tides of War mod staff are using some kind of DX9 conversion/plugin/whatever on the Freelancer engine and are currently utilizing DX9 bump mapping in the mod's development.
-
thats right... but question remains "is everyone allowed to use it?"
-
kinda, they found a way to hook the graphic engine and implement dx9 stuff, so instead the dx8 usage the dx9 code is executed...
As far as i understood everyone except weBut noone was yet killed for asking a kindly question^^

i wont and cant ask (afterall i got banned and for sure i am not a person that begs for something)
-
But i can ask
-
Is it available for induvidual personal use?
