Hey,
I was thinking if it's possible to edit the stars that they would actually glow. I mean, just like in Mass Effect 2 when you're in open space and look out of the Normandy , you see that the stars are glowing pretty good. Glowing so strong one after another and since they are so many, you get the awesome effect.

Heh, the best example I can give is the night sky in the RL ... when you're not near a city area , out of city lights , you see the stars best and you see them how they glow so strong ... is it possible to do in CF too ?
Do you mean that they should blink ? Like, alternating more and less light intensity... or just to be more bright to simulate glowing.

as i am currently working on suns i would say that it is possible
but the amount of stars would probably be an extreme performance killer or in worst case cause crashes

well, even a simple 2D barely no polys flash x 5000 times in the distance could be hard to take for some PCs... but they could be made so they only bother your PC when you have max settings.
Well, as much as I love to see those in 2.0 , do you know how many people would be on max settings and eventually slow the performance of the server? (talking about MP)
If they do cause that ofc , since they will lag and this will be uncomfortable for the others and himself as well.
The graphical improvements do not affect the server, as it's not a data that transfers between the server and client.
Else everyone would have a higher fluct at having to load tons of detailed textures and effects from CF

Nah, it won't be used anyway as it's not that easy to do (counting consumed time) and there are many other things to do for 2.0

ill think about it (made some tests with something else a few days ago which might help)
Just remember that not all people who play CF, do have a high end machine on their end.
Which could mean they wont even able to enjoy this kind of feature (if implemented), since FL and CF don't need that much performance to run.
What is minimum performance for actual CF 1.9 , if you want full details? When i played on my old machine(just simply Athlon 2,8GHz, 1,5RAM,GF6600 256/128), almost all time without problems, but on v1.82

We could have a Lost Paradise planet-type, where it's always dark... and stars blink 
That could even attract some chicks over here to have romantic planetary flybys under the stars ahaha
If you want blinking stars then open and close your eyes very fast
