F1 Key not working

  • Hi Everyone. I installed Freelancer earlier today and played about 2 hours before noticing this cool mod. I installed it, enabled the mod in the mod manager and deleted my old saved games. I went to start a new campaign and everything started up OK but I have 3 issues.

    1) I see a blank screen when the opening cutscenes play. I just hear the sound (not a huge deal)
    2) I noticed that I get some scrolling multiplayer information during the first mission (no cheating, server rules, etc.). Not sure if that is by design or what.
    3) My F1 key doesn't seem to work when I'm in game. (that one is the biggie)

    Any help would be appreciated.

This probably needs to be moved to the Freelancer technical support board. Sorry.

  • F1-key is not supposed to work while in space. So people don't switch chars, when not docked anywhere.

    ps: thread moved

  • you don,t not in space, you have to dock with a planet or space stations because it saves you game at the same time

Ok, thanks for the info. For my first play through, I'd like to just play the vanilla FL story but keep the Crossfire graphical updates. Is that possible at all?

  • Yes, you can play the regular Freelancer story with the Crossfire mod installed...as long as you didn't choose "Open SP" during the mod activation process. I do every once and a while when I'm feeling nostalgic. :D You'll have the graphical changes and there's a few of the newer ships scattered about in the vanilla systems.

Awesome, thanks Rex. Would there be any problems with me using my save games from before installing crossfire if I'm not using Open SP?

  • You have to delete Restart.fl in order to run the game, other than that it should work. Worse case scenario: the game will crash during loading or Mission script will glitch and story will not advance.

As for exiting game (if in a rush) just hit alt+F4

  • you shouldnt use old savegames, they are incompatible

Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • I noticed that enemies health and shields regenerate with the mod enabled making them really tough to kill. I assume the difficulty has been ramped up even for the original campaign.

Yes thats true, but not by much.

If it was too easy, you would get bored and not
    play the game anymore.

A lot of work has been put into this mod to make it
    more challenging and fun.

If i am online, just hola and i will give you some assistance,
    but not too much. ;)
