I hate people trying out new cheats

you are right.. A cheat is a cheat. no matter who does it.
BUT. The little tiny program, responsable for detecting POSSIBLE cheats, is not perfect and we all know that already.

Several guys got kicked for POSSIBLE cheat. New players AND veterans as well.
Other guys who REALLY cheat don't even get detected by the cheat protection.

Just reminding you of the guy who had all those Ancient Cruise Distruptors mounted on his ship, which surely was modifying of the game to use it to gain advantage.

I got told myself that I got kicked for possible cheating, DC_Sphinx got kicked for possible cheating even Picard got kicked for possible cheating.
But this does not neccessarily mean we all cheat, does it?

This "possible" in the message means nothing else than that it COULD BE that there is some try to cheat involved in the action those "detected" player performed.
It does NOT mean that there ACTUALLY IS a cheat he/she has been using.

@ all who think if the console kicks a player for possible cheat detection, they really cheat.

Do you honestly think that everyone who gets "detected" by the cheat protection, is cheating?
Do you really think that the cheat protection is always acting the way it is supposed to be?

Leveling up and down can either be money transfer between chars. BUT it can also be having a good load of cargo in one moment and loosing it (due kill or jettison)
In example. When I fly around in lower level. and I loot some codename guns I gain level, because the guns are worth something then I realize that I dont want those guns but I'm too lazy to dock and sell it (because I dont care for the money) then I simply jettison those guns in space. In that way I drop level.
That does not mean Im cheating, does it?

Being kicked for possible cheating is (like it is mentioned already) NOT shown to the player who actually loses connection to the server (this is all you get shown "your connection to the server has been lost.. bla bla")
It just looks like a regular time out or a server crash to the one who lost connection. Only the remaining people on the server can see the message appearing, if there is a message comming up.

The reason for that are not even known by OP (at least not all reasons)
Sometimes you got kicked when you had a "bugged ship" or you simply forgot about the restart after server crash, (escpecially at 06:00am server time, when the economy rotates)

The reason why I did cite Son of Angmar's post was just to tell, that it does NOT make ANY sense to point at certain persons like he did.
It was NOT meant to point against anyone nor any clan.

And DW is right, it doesnt even make sense to have this thread opened to begin with.
I was online myself as that CENTAURY or wahteverhis name is got kicked that often. I also tried to tell him that he needs to restart the whole game because he got kicked for possible cheating.
I dont even know if he read what I wrote, since he kept being kicked. Maybe he does not understand english, I dont know.

And I also said already in my first reply that I already have an eye on him. And when I say such things I usually mean what I say.
Unfortunately expecting the guys here on the forum, to get the meaning of that, that there is NO further "I did see some message like that"-posts needed.

Its great that people on the server watch out for such things. And I think a lot of you also apreciate that. But seeing a cheat in everything is not really leading to anything but confusion.

Just to clarify:

When the server responses you are being kicked due to cheating - then you are kicked due to cheating. Means you cheat. As this is evaluated by the backend software there is no maybe. Either yes or no. Software does not know the word maybe - at least not the hooking code ;D

The rules also say, that everone who gets caught cheating is going to be banned, since it is not tolerated.

Serverrules very first paragraph

Do you expect the persons who see this now to make screens and report them all? or when people are simply forget about to restart the launcher (cause we are ALL HUMAN and NOT PERFECT!!!) they might get kicked for:

If there is NO maybe.. then there should also not be any POSSIBLE being implied in the console messge, once the backend software does not know any maybe's.

On the other hand .. doesnt possible mean maybe? like: it is possible, in other words, it COULD be, its NOT definetaly, but the CHANCES are there. ???

those threads are NOT leading to anywhere, like I said already.
And such comments don't make it any better, since here are ALL just HUMANS and NOT A SINGLE ONE of us is perfect.

A simply bug can be regognized as a cheat and being handled like that from the backend software, cause the software doesnt know better.
Also if everything what the software is displaying on the screen would be taken serious by all persons? than thank you. Everyone who simply forget about the restart will be banned right away. since, uh. .let me cite. .it is cheating, cause the software did declare it as cheat.

Just to answer that question. A possible cheat might be that you tweaked your setting, another possibility would be you forgot to restart, another possibility is the server is not synchronising files, another possibility is bug in flhook. That all are possible cheats So one of many is one or "a possible" cheat. Maybe banning means just to kick him from the server - a semantic misunderstanding... Oo... damn world is doomed now... when is 2012? ;D

So we leave it this way, the Software is not detecting anything, we all know better how this software is working and call possible cheats tweaks in the future, we don´t suspect anyone of cheating anymore just because the complete anti cheat software is not neccessary but still eating server ressources for nothing. Still we believe noobish ppl not able to fly to decide which moves are possible and which are not and proceed crying for banning Freelancers who are simply better than us (and ofc. a treat to our egos). Soon after it when those ppl will find out how things are working in about a few weeks we let them call cheaters from the new arriving noobs. Just to make the neverending CF story perfect. Ever thought about how fast a Server will die when cheating/tweaking/manipulating/hacking will be accepted?

You Guys are great, realy. A cheat stays a cheat no matter how you call it, it is something you do out of skill to gain an unfair advantage over others, nothing more or less.

ps.: anybody except Huor already had a look into the code of hook so he is realy able to say something?

why are you discussing about a topic which has been addressed and announced to be dealt with?
most of you are judging by subjective feelings after lost fights... and the others can not even put in the slightest proof
