Font problems and missing videos...

    Well, first post and a returning player after a long time of abscence...
    While moving a bunch of old stuff around in my flat I found an old, dusted version of Freelancer and remembered hours of sweet gaming...
    So I thought, heck, give it a try... Did a quick google search, found a list of promising mods and tried to go with the Crossfire Mod...


    Well, so I had a vanilla install of Freelancer, patched it, installed the mod, changed the resolution (according to your tutorial on mod db) and wanted to play...


    First thing I noticed is the missing picture of the intro videos... I do hear the sound, but I am missing the video itself. The intro video of the single player is working just fine...


    Second problem are the fonts, throughout the game... They are somewhat blurry and nearly not readable, really pixelated... I tried to do a screenshot of it, but it doesn't work.
    The menu is useable, but tooltips and any ingame text is not readable at all, anyone got an idea?
    I inserted the Freelancer fonts into the windows/Fonts folder, I removed the "ForceSquareTextures" directive in the flconfigdatabase...


    Can't think of anything else to do and I'd love to spent some hours ingame again.

    Will be best, if you give here what resolution you use. Here are more experienced players who use wide-screen and they can then help you.

    if you disable the visual designs of windows while running Crossfire you will see the intro
    the other stuff might be due to the enb shader... press shift+f12

    That fixed the font problem perfectly, the other one is too annoying changing it everytime, so I'll just pass on these.

    Game crashes in quest Death Valley (Kussari fleet)!
    is the quest event a video?
    Intro video runs for me only all16 bit resolution,
    Playing with 1280 x 960 32 bit and I play the way through it with 16 bit!
    FL and newly installed mod did not help. New crash !
    therefore seek other proposal ?


    Spiel stürzt ab in quest Death Valley ( Kussari Flotte ) !
    ist beim quest ereigniss ein Video ?

    Neu instal FL und Mod halfen nicht. Erneuter absturz
    suche daher anderen Vorschlag ?

    When exactly your game crashed? (Single player?) ... You activated low graphics settings during mod install?

    Yes, I play Singel Player
    The game with high graphic setting stable with win 7 64 bit only crash Quest Death Valley,
    with low setting even crash, I do not play on 16 bit, no that I will not!
    I have black box Kusarri and Russia in the bars and talks due to hard disk with the Coallition
    I found prior Earth and Coallition (nice Gatting, almost cheating)

    Das Spiel ist mit hoher grafischer einstellung stabil mit win 7 64 bit nur Quest Deathvalley crash,
    mit low einstellung auch absturz, ich spiele das nicht auf 16 bit , nein das werde ich nicht !
    Ich habe schwarze Box Russland und Kusarri und in den Bars gespräche wegen Festplatte auch mit der Coallition
    Ich fand voher Erde und Coallition ( nice Gatting, schon fast betrügen)

    It crashed only when you enter Death Valley system? ... some systems are much more difficult to PC hardware or you have corrupted some game files.

    Today I deleted everything with freelancer and mod had to do from the program x86 , installed it again under porgram.
    Played it is going to 16 bit low setting (it makes the eye diseases)
    2 - 3 hours, crashing in Death Valley, yes it crashes only there, because when I last nomads in sight kill!



    Heute löschte ich alles was mit freelancer und mod zu tun hatte aus Programe x86, installierte es neu unter Porgrame .
    Spielte es doch mal auf 16 bit low einstellung ( es macht die Augen Krank )
    ca. 2 -3 stunden , absturz in Death Valley , ja es stürzt nur dort ab ,wenn ich denn letzten Nomaden in sicht töte !

    I had the same problem, and sometimes i have the same problem again, and yes this problem occurred when i sw from XP SP3 to Windows 7 pro 64 bit, but i cannot blame the game cos i have a new hardware too, so this can be an issue...anyway i can live with this ;)
