I've started playing Freelancer with Crossfire Mod 1.82 again and loving it. I've just completed the Tekagi Transport mission and am required to go from 12000000 to 27000000 before I get to do the next mission. My problem is that I've taken a lot of Escape Pods to all of the prisons I can think of and I can't land on any of them because they're all hostile, including the ones on Vega and Neophobos - it will take an awful long time to do missions and trade to get from 12 mil to 27mil so any advice would be very gratefully received.
HELP PLEASE

Hm. I'm not sure, but since pirate bases don't buy escape pods, and at this point you're more or less hostile to all house police and militaries, maybe you could sell the pods at pl. Murmansk in Sovetskaya! I know it's not even remotely practical, but you can also get a Haidar in those systems, that has (I think) 330 cargo, which should technically pay itself off quickly...

lol sending him to the Altair sector, which is two sectors away from Sirius sector (whcih is all vanilla)... is a bit radical... but right

Try taking some wrecks( I hope in the SP the wrecks are operational ) and you'll increase your level. There are lots of wrecks in Sigma 13. And if you don't remember the map , try the DB from 1.7 in here -> http://www.cfdb.sivosten.com

Thanks for the advice. However, I've managed to get to Sol on my way to Sovetskaya and I can't land on Earth as it's hostile to me. I've landed on Order HQ and can't find any bribes - everyone in the bar tells me nothing is happening. I've found the Dimensional Rift which I presume gets me to Styx but can't dock with it - I can't select it despite clicking all over it, both from a distance and very close up. Is it possible to get to Sovetskaya at all while still trying to complete the Basic Freelancer storyline?
Advice need please

Just take the wrecks and you'll be fine. Or also try taking the disk from the Death Valley System in Nomads Lair ( X-3043 leads to Nomads Lair). You'll find the gate to Death Valley in south-west somewhere outside of the cloud field. And be aware, there are nomads in there... the wreck is at the top of the Nomad City. Once you get it , you can sell it for 10 millions at every station or a planet.

You can fix your rep with some of the factions by buying bribes. Neutral bases (Junkers, Zoners) are often good places to buy bribes for the major houses.
Bribes do work in SP. The missions will make you hostile to the major houses one time (sometimes two). After that, you can change your rep as you like.
Regarding the Dimensional Rift, you do not select it. Just enter the Rift and press the Dock key.

The Coalition bribe is not required, although it is a good idea. And I mentioned fixing his rep.

He's right. You can fix your rep. at least for the duration of that particular mission. They might get kicked back into the red though once you take the next mission. I parked outside Ouray and dock r'ed Xenos shieldless fighters as they launch for half an hour. Fixed my reps with all the houses and corporations in a hurray. Might be easier than trying to navigate Altair.
