error while launching\loading the mod

    i have freelance mod installer 1.3,i uninstalled the game,reinstalled it,delted savegames,activated the mod.i luanch it,it starts,i t shows the intro movie,nd it goes to the loading screen with the tower and the starships etc,after 5 seconds i hear a very brief sound coming fro mthe game,then it crashes and goe back to windows.i have win 7 6 bit,freelance and other mods have always worked perfectly.

    have you removed the restart.fl from your savegames?

    hey, while we're on the subject, can anyone tell me if there is a problem with "Open single player".. I have played through the game normal mode , but have re installed the game again, cleaned all saved games etc etc..tried to play the game in open single player and it keeps going into the sigle player campagn cut scenes and then goes into the game.



    So is there a bug, if not id like to report this and ask if i need to do anything otyher than selecting open sigle player when i select the mod set up.

    So you have a 64 bits Operative System ?


    not sure if it's related but I don't think so, even CF is way far from others mods counting codes or complexity ;)


    Usually the problem was from teh savefiles... ANY savefile including autosave and restart. Which they come back after you start teh SP mode in CF as it's normal...


    I remember there was also something else related with that issue, but not exactly which.


    Anyways try visit our FAQ, maybe you see something you missed about installing or possible bugs.

    error logs do not exist
    only reason for FL to stop working at that point is a corrupt installation (file missing or file incompatible) or the savegame issue

    SP aswell as Open SP has been tested right before the release
    both are working fine

    I selected Open SP mode in the activation using FLMM but it keeps going to normal SP campaign with intro cut scenes. ?(


    Is there a way to check or change this? I really don't want to play normal SP campaign all over again for the 50th time. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I've got the same problem. It loads, goes to the Crossfire splash/logo screen with the red background, then it freezes and closes. And when I try ot restart FL:CF, I get an error message and it won't open. Also, fresh install of both Crossfire and the base Freelancer. No saves, nothing.

    First of all, this is my first post, just joined and i look forward to play Crossfire.


    And second, i have the exact same problem like the one below. I deleted the savegames, even the hall folder, reinstaled fresh copy, tried everything i could think of and read about.

    L.E. allright. i tried again, and again, and again...and i begun to wonder, is there a patch for fl vanilla, needed in order to make crossfire work? i have freelancer v.1 so, is there any patch out there? was a patch ever released?
    Another thing i noticed, after a fresh install of everything, before the game atleast shows the loading screen before crashing, there were supposed to be some videos. Well, these videos come only with sound, the video is actually missing. Maybe this will shed some light aswell...
    Man i really want to play this mod, for two days i keep trying to make it work, i cant even play anything else because i keep coming back doing fresh installs and stuff...my brain acts like a broken record lol.

    Sorry but there's no other patch to be used for making cf work, it only needs a fresh clean (not with any other mods on it).....


    If the activation works successfuly, the game should work.


    If it doesn't... are you sure you chosen the right, low performance options to fit the power/capacity of your PC ? Let's say there are many options for cards of above 128 Mb.... if your cards are 128 or lower (which would expain a red background when loading char or something) you have to activate teh "Low Card Compatibility mode", also it's safe not activating advanced stuff options or bloom...

    Oh, hope you also have the real Freelancer... not a cracked version (some or most may not work, as they are not 'fresh' or 'clean' installs).

    the problem with the intro movies is related to windows 7 and Aero
    deactivating the visual design while playing FL will show the vids

    I myself have "enough" pc to run FL. 512 mb video, dual core cpu 2gb ram etc. Vanilla FL works like a charm, so does other mods (tried others after CS failed. CS was my first freelancer multiplayer attempt).


    About the "real" freelancer, yes it's official, no copy, no crack.


    About the below post regarding the videos, again, vanilla videos work. only after installing CS they dont.

    i cant say why the video prob happens with CF, all i know is that the problem is the aero visual designs (and i had similar probs on different mods)
    probably there is a way to do a special setting to the freelancer.exe via the launcher that automatically turns it off... dunno
    i have not investigated into that direction yet as it never was a high priority

    Just want to say that these tech threads are really useful for me. It's been a long time since I played this game and I forgot the install process. Here's hoping it goes smoothly though I don't remember Crossfire ever giving me any problem!
