  • I have recently bought a new laptop. Everything is great about this new laptop... ?( But the files on it are the things I'm unhappy with :cursing: . I installed the crossfire mod. Did everything how it should be, Although, While activating the mod An Error, about half way through the prosses appeared :cursing: . And this is what it said. "Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Crossfire1.81\EXE\MSINET.OCX' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\MSINET.OCX')" ?( ?( ?(

I'm not sure whether this is new or not to you but this Laptop is worthless if I can't get this working on it.

Please help me out here. ?(

  • There are more answered questiosn at his link, even it's not the msinet.ocx , it could be something blocking the installation or sth..

  • Not true, I went on Crossfire multiplayer. Everything worked ok. server crashed (Nothing changed) and I Restarted everything. and When I clicked on the LUANCH crossfire multiplayer. It said, Problem Running multiplayer E5

  • I alreayd told about that E5 on a thread with the same topic of E12...

When you see that, open Task Manager ( Ctrl+Alt+Del) and manually close the Freelancer.exe you find there...(which cus it got bugged will show as it takes 90-99 % of CPU, it's when your PC makes a bucle somewhere) as for some reason on your PC the game didn't closed and it's still active... as you can't start 2 games at once, you have to close the old one to open it again :)

    Have fun.

  • I should have known, But I'll keep that in mind for future references, But, As I didn't know the answer I desided to leave it and install AVG, Unfortunatly I don't know how to deactivate AVG or put crossfire/freelancer in a exception file. I found how to put it there but it won't let me put folders in, Only the files in the folders. There must be an easier way. Because of this I then had a virus and needed to uninstall it all again.

All I need to know is how to work AVG and I'm there.

  • AVG ? dunno...
I just tested few antiviruses with popularity, choosed Avast and stood on it... after years without any antivirus(while I have myself, everything can be knocked out except the ones which isntantly destroys your PC, but that don't happen, and if it happens your AV can't stop them very well neither :D ).

  • There are big differences...
On Avast simply right-click on the AV's icon on the lower-right bar and click on "Stop On-Access Protection" is enough, which are 8 different shield protections for each stuff even torrents and all close at once. It also has one which scanns your PC constantly... file by file and slowly and that also stops.
on AVG dunno, but Kaspersky don't even has that option there.

  • Hi guys, I'm new to the game, I have a question that I cannot find the answer anywhere...

At what level should be patched the vanilla FreeLancer, if any?

I played a couple of missions on vanilla... well... okay, but then I get some interest into your mod which also offers a single player campaign... Went through the same couple of first missions but then I get some several weird error message with the mod and could not pursue... Seeing 1.82 is coming up, shall I push with 1.81? In other terms, will save game be compatible?

    Remarks/questions:
    - FLMM 1.31? Check!
    - I use the unofficial patch 1.4 (maybe the source of the problem and thus my question above)
    - May I ask confirmation from you guys on the installation guide: Is it critical step 1 FLMM, step 2 Crossfire, step 3 FreeLancer? Spontaneously I would rather do FL, FLMM, CF.

EDIT: I also get insane amount of money from transporting people (cannot remind what kind exactly) from Manathan to Fort Bush (buying 600, selling 1200) but also other highly lucrative short trade lanes right from the beginning. I am not sure this was intended because I read in other threads that trade profits are the same than in vanilla (e.g. it has not been looked through because of the huge amount of time it would represent given the possibilities).

Edited once, last by Kelben ().

  • Don't use the !.4 patch forFLMM. It does not work apparently. And The trades are like that.... For me it is anyway. You can also install FL first or last. It doesn't matter. But I suggest you stick with one or the other.

And don't worry about it now Micheal. Zeroth has told me how to do it with AVG, Although it seems much harder than with Avast.^^

It's not critical to use that way, it's ok while you install first FLMM Then CF, as when you install CF it makes a call to the folder where you put it at FLMM, and so you can't do ith another way. But FL before yes, it's ok.

It's not really insane, you have to check Vips from Manhattan to Newark in front, and lane parts back... it's the main newb route for new players with freighters.

Trade profits aren't the same as in vanilla, mining is Much easyer, bigger profits in general routes, and on multiplayer dynamic economy and universe will be back functional... which means routes get changed each day and sometimes the opportunityes of uberprofit routes :D

  • It's happened again. Only this tim when I run FLMM as Admin It still does it.
    Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Crossfire1.81\EXE\Freelancer.exe' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe')
    Any answers?

I am not talking of FLMM but rather of FL the game itself, sorry for the confusion. I have FL version 1.0, it has been patched up to 1.3 officially then there is a 1.4 patch made by players. Question is: is it recommended to patch the original game while using Crossfire

Yeah I like the idea actually... Like there should be some stocks on every planets for each resources and some sort of production rate (mining station will mine at a certain rate for instance) so that trade lanes can be exhausted. If the stock is big, profit is not that huge and if the stock run low then demand increases. Might be complicated to mod though and I let it to you guys to find a way to create variations of some sort on prices (would be already great).

Patch 1.4 is made by other players, it's like another mod like CF 1.8 is, not that it's not recommended, you can't use that patch (any other mod or patch).

In the manual it says a Clean FL Install :) Expect many conflicts in the gameplay if it's not clean.

  • Yeah, I worked freelancer with just 1.0 but look at where I am now....... I'm stuffed, I can't even activate it. stupid Flmm, No wait, it's not the flmm's fault,....... stupid file conversion.
