  • You don't even have to use that launcher, as it requires different files as patch....

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • I had the same error on Win7.. what solved it for me was installing FL in a diffrent location then the default program folder..

(between here I also started FL and disabled the 3D sound as told in the XFire install instructions, if that got anything to do with it)

And then in FLMM choose "option -> choose a diffrent Freelancer directory" and find the freelancer folder..

    and activating it went painless..

  • Ha-ha stupid microsoft windows . I figured , that windows really removes a "read only" attribute when you uncheck the box in properties , but puts it back on once you click "ok" . So to activate Crossfire in FMM , you should :
1). Install fresh version of Freelancer , then FMM 1.3 , then Crossfire .
2). Restart and click F8 while OS is loading to enter Safe Mode .
3). In Safe Mode open Properties of Freelancer folder ,remove attributes ant DON'T click ok , instead click apply . Same for Crossfire folder in Freelancer Mod Manager\mods .
4). Start FMM and activate Crossfire .
5). Close properties and FMM .
    6). Restart .
    7). Profit .

  • Info about remove "read only" attribute added to FAQ
