I'm thinking of joining a clan (not sure which) but I don't know how. Do I register here or do I buy a license in the game and select which clan I want?

It depends, what type of clan are you wanting to join, Police, Pirate, or Mercenary?

There are many clans to choose from, and they all have differing policy on how and who they recruit. Clans exist for the roles of being police, mercenaries (bounty hunters), traders, explorers, pirates, and military. For many of these there is more than one clan to choose from. The best way to choose is probably to come onto CF multiplayer for a week or so as a freelancer, and talk to representatives of clans that you see online as they are available. Most clans have websites that could give you a better feel for what they are like, and there ought to be plenty of people willing to help if you ask.

I Fully agree drakon... about checking out all the clans. The main reason i think people join a clan is to have people who you know has your back. look around and if you'd like check out the UDP Website

Just seen as a hint Nitram,
don´t follow the bribes, don´t let someone take away the fun you have while exploring the Game yourself - make friends around. If you are done exploring try all of the RPs to be secure about it. After it look carefully which clan will match your interests and favorite RP most. Give the Clan a try as they will give you a try.
If you match all of the criteria for yourself CF can be a long and interesting Journey for you and others. In every Situation FL, RP FL and Clan you will have loads of fun.
