  • In july i have 2 weeks free and the first weeks of august also will be a bit less stressful so i can work on CF1.8 there.
Eventhough the workload is still massive I plan to release CF1.8 in late august. Thats the plan.
If everything does work we will see soon enough.

I need to buy painkillers now as modding 16-18h a day is something you really notice the day after.

CF1.8 will get released as a clean mod ... that means no additions such as dynamic universe or lag reduction kit.
Those server sided addons will be recreated as soon i know that the mods base is working perfectly.
The changes done in CF1.8 will very likely lead to better performance even without the lag reduction kit.
During the beta testing (before the final release gets published) there will be the need to do the FLhook update and balance everything.

The biggest problem I see is the time needed for the re-texturing. The coalition fighters already have been retextured but the battleships still need much attention. I also planned to retexture the original FL stations a bit to show higher details but i am unsure if i am able to do that in time.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • not if i can prevent that

  • I am a ISEB certified software tester if you need anything checked. I can also run Loadrunner to check for bottlenecks and deal with whitebox testing if needed.

I hope that would help the workload?

  • for white box test you need the knowledge of the structure of the software - i doubt that you may get this information from OP. What about black or gray box tests? ;)

  • Grey box testing also includes knowledge of the program operation even though the tests are performed on user level.

  • I can black box and stress test using load runner if needed but my current licensce limits me to 50 users. I didnt plan to renew the licensce as it cost £40k. Beside testing 10,000 users on the server would be pointless.

I think OP would prefer white box anyway as this would be the priority for release.

I have a few bits of software kicking around ill have a look and see if any of it would be of use and make life easier.
